I find it insane to pay for holes in my clothes. And it seems not proper to wear such clothes. If I should ever manage to pass the test to get on a date I would wear a dress or skirt. Something femine, atleast. Right now I am wearing a green woollen dress that is one of my favourites with a nice scarf. I could wear that one a date if it is cold weather outside.

You can even get new trainers now that look 10 years old and are falling to bits!

I think I will dig out my old ones and save some money :p

Insane it is.
But few holes is like wearing jeans with built in ventilation. Lol.

What if you dyed the blonde a teal green colour? That would be cool. Or bleach the blond white?

*Obligatory 3-year time skip*

I am perfectly fine about a few imperfections in attire, but come to my date with brown rags that haven't been washed in a month, busted muddy shoes and pants that are WAY beyond torn up and I would likely go the opposite direction, you know what I'm sayin'?

It depends, if it's a spontanious date where you meet someone and decide to go out then what ever your wearing is fine,
if its a planned in advance date, then you should dress for the occasion, if its like fastfod and an amusement park, something light and running shoes would probably be ideal, if its dancing and a somewhat up scale restaurant than perhaps something formal would be more suitable.
If its a very formal event. Then definatly a formal wear would be idea. Tuxedo and a dress.
But the bible is clear that modesty is important so you should be modestly dressed at all times.
The bible is clear that looking and lusting is commiting adultry so anything that would cause someone to look and lust shouldnt even be considered on any occasion.

How important are a persons clothes to you in considering dating? I don't just mean if they are dressed modestly, but what if there dress in old worn out clothes or maybe their shoes need a shine. Or what if they're dressed like they're going to a meeting in the white house even when they just go to out to a movie?

Growing up spending time with southern roots...when you went to church or to town you wore your Sunday clothes and took extra care in your appearance. I do the same thing now more or less...but I'm not big on wearing dresses often. At home? Jeans, shorts, t-shirts, and I like to run around in boxer shorts. When I'm at home I want to be comfortable and get dirty without ruing good clothes. I do not like irons or ironing boards anymore.

I've been living in Mississippi for about 16 years now, in some churches everyone wears a suite and in some people wear a dress shirt and bule jeans, most women dress about the same in all the churches, some wear the big fancy hats and all that. I usually throw on a dress shirt and khakis.

I shop at the thrift store but always look cute. Not everything I buy has a brand name to it, some things do, but it's all cute!!! It's amazing what rich people give away...

But personally it's about taste. I like country looking me, jeans and a flannel, or jeans and tshirt kind of guy. So it depend on the girl, as long as he likes my thrift store finds it's all good!

You can find cheap clothes at flea markets and garage sales too a lot of times. People just want to get rid of the stuff so they don't have to put it back into storage. One time I got leather jacket for $7:00 at a yard sale, another time I found three pairs of brand new cargo pants for $10:00.

i dress purely for comfort. currently, cotton jammies , but whatever it is (jeans and a t-shirt, sweater, dress) it's gotta be cotton. i'm single minded that way. (pun intended)

in other people, obviously one prefers clean and tidy-ish, but clothes in and of themselves aren't off-putting to me.
it's in the eyes, the facial expression, the words spoken. you know, the person.

Hmm... I'm reminded of a comic strip in which an elderly man was headed outside wearing sweatpants. His wife remonstrated with him about wearing sweatpants in public.

"Do you know what people think of you when you go out in sweatpants?"

"Yeah, they think 'Gee I wish I were as comfortable as that guy!'"

I tend to naturally be drawn to women that are low maintenance. A woman too regularly caught up in her appearance would be a bother for me. That's day to day. For nicer occasions she likes to dress nicer that's fine, even nice to see from time to time.
That said, if a woman were to be too sloppy looking that would be a turn off as well. Pajamas are meant for home, not walmart or the grocery store.
I'm also rarely a fan of modern trends, mens or womens.

If I was the casual dating type, I wouldn't give it any thought at all. I'm not the casual dating type, so anyone that I REALLY start dating would be a considered marriage partner. And yes, it matters a lot to me what they wear. Is that strange?

I've always been around guys who don't look out of place in grungy work clothes, and yet manage to dress very sharply when occasion requires. I would have to think about it before marrying someone who wasn't comfortable in work clothes, and I'd have to think really seriously before marrying someone who can't dress up.

That's the kind of girl I am, I guess. When you work, you work hard and you wear old clothes. You're used to working hard and the clothes fit you like a glove because you're so comfy in them. And then you spit and polish and get into a suit and go to church. I'm a dressy enough girl that I honestly don't know if I could even consider a guy who didn't dress well. Not like he has to have perfect fashion taste or anything. I'm not gonna lie, my mom STILL lays out my dad's shirts and ties, because dad is basically color blind :p. But really, learn to wear a suit well. It gives a look of confidence and manliness that I personally find extremely attractive.

Gosh, that sounds really picky! lol I didn't realize that until you asked the question.

It's not strange, but are you judging righteously? That's the more important question.

Going to church is uncasual, so people should dress like they're not doing an everyday thing, but dress should be humble. I expect to see the preachers and deacons in suits because of their titles, not everyone is the preacher or a deacon their dress should reflect their standing in the congeration. As for the rest of the congeration, they should be dressed nice, but humble, not showing off, just neat and clean.
That's just the way I see it anyhow. When I go to church I'm there as someone who is a sinner forgiven by God's grace. I'm there to worship, pray, hear teaching from God's word, and to fellowship. I would feel out of place in a suit.

My brothers and dad have always worn suits or blazers, or just a shirt and tie. Whatever. I wasn't really speaking to condemn anyone, just what I like. We grew up pretty well drilled in "It doesn't matter what you feel like, and it doesn't matter how out of place you feel, you're going to see the King of kings." Nope, it's not going to impress him or make him view us as better. It is just a rather old-fashioned show of respect which we are actually slowly losing. And hey, we worship in a mall. We get a fair amount of people just coming as they are in shorts etc. and we welcome them just as warmly.
