I am 36 and well I ain't getting any younger hah. So it would be nice to find a girl who loves Jesus and wants to form a friendship and take it slow. Howdy Joshua. What kind of nerd are you?

Yes, I know, a computer nerd. That's obvious. What I mean is, how far have the symptoms of the computer-nerd illness progressed? Can you partition a hard drive? Install Linux to a flash drive? Or has it gone so far that you routinely compile Unix kernels and customize your own computer system around them?

For anybody else reading this thread: If you don't understand anything I just said, you're not a nerd.

Thank you for all the kind words everyone. Lynx I love how you put it :). Yes I've compiled linux kernels :). All the way back to the late 90s and bzimages etc. When I was 12 I installed my first cdrom drive and soundcard in a 386 I purchased with paper route money. I am an MCSE, A+. I've managed big networks. HOWEVER that doesnt make me a nerd :). What makes me a nerd (IMHO) is that I am an introvert and love Star Trek. I am terminal.

Wow. These days you just stick a new optical drive in. Back then you actually had to know what you were doing to install a new CDROM and sound card. I mean not just installing drivers, you had to wire a soundcard into the motherboard and stuff.

I concede to one who is more nerd than I.

And for the record, Star Trek: TNG was the best series of the whole lot. I don't care what anybody says. The original was good, DS9 was a complete rip of Babylon 5, Voyager was okay, Enterprise was kind of okay, but TNG totally rocked.

Hello Joshua - Well, I don't know about that! The older I get the younger you look - Smile. I remember turning 30 in my life and saying to myself, "Well, now I have to do something with my life because Jesus started doing something at age 30." Ok, I knew He was God all thru His life, but suffice it to say, I felt the need to be productive in serving His will more so than at age 11 when I gave my heart to Him (that is actually not true tho, I can be productive anytime I am in Christ at any age, (for those who are younger reading)). I want to welcome you to the CC barn dance of fellowship, there are many kind and wonderful ladies here so be nice to them; know they like a godly-man over a good cologne any day. Ok, well, I can't speak for everyone but.... Smile.I'm sure you would agree, friendship is the best foundation to any relationship right? May God richly bless you here and again Welcome! My name is Dan. I'll see ya in the hallways.

I saw the new "Star Trek (Discovery)" viz., CBS. It looks very good to me. I was a fan way back when my Dad loved the original series.... Cool beans!

I saw it thru my Cable channel on TV. And they also have a service, that I don't have, an upgrade which will show you the second episode on demand - now. Of course they want you to pay extra for that like other channels charge extra for on demand with no commercials etc. Isn't that predatory in nature? But, that is not my fight...Smile. I just don't give them the money in response. Smile.

There are a few self-professed nerds on this site so you should feel at home. There are a lot of singles here so you just never know who you're going to bump into. Glad to have you onboard with us. Welcome to CC.

Nerd
noun: nerd; plural noun: nerds; noun: nurd; plural noun: nurds

a foolish or contemptible person who lacks social skills or is boringly studious.

Obviously, I have an old definition in mind.

Welcome to CC! I'm also from BC, and I love Star Trek. I missed the premier of Discovery last night, I'm trying to figure out how to download it. Rather, I'm on hold, waiting for a real person to walk me through it.

Obviously I am not a nerd, just an old lady who tries hard to work with devices and computers!
