Have you ever, to those who do, lost your composure when faced with something rather challenging? Like, as an example, I was confronted by a coworker and having been bullied before, I lost my peace and something took over, fear. I realised that somehow, somewhere deep inside, I still feel afraid of confrontation, although much much better than before.

What certain circumstances make you feel things you never realised were still there or you thought you've already overcome?

What certain changes in yourself do you experience when going through these circumstances?

Another example, Peter denying Jesus which was also because of fear. Funny, before that event, he publicly declared he was willing to go to death with Jesus. XD

Yet another example, I have encountered people who are lively, jolly and spreads love whenever, but when they are going through something, like a family issue, they become different in some way. Like, when people try to reach out to them, they reject, or doubt the help offered to them. I feel like, somehow, these people maybe struggling with what unconditional love really is and they can't believe that a kind of love that doesn't ask for anything in return, exists. Okay, somehow this may be another kind of fear as well - the fear of rejection? They disqualify themselves before others can. Something like that.

Anyway, so yeah, have you guys experienced this / noticed this for yourself? Or are you the type of person who can remain calm and composed on the inside, even when faced with a storm? (Now that would be cool.)

Depends on the challenging circumstance. In most emergency situations I get really focused and quiet. If I don't know what to do I find out. If I know what to do I will do it. If I want to know something I will ask somebody. Otherwise shut up, get out of my way, leave me alone and let me get through this.

Which is much different from my normal non-emergency persona.

I don't think the ability to "keep our composure in the midst of trouble" is a quality that we simply do or do not possess....
I think it's all a matter of degrees.

It's something that grows.
It is a character quality, and a fruit of the spirit... it should gradually grow as we grow in Christ.

I tend to have a short fuze when having to deal with people who are arrogant and unreasonable sometimes, but through Christ I have self control much more than in the past. My skin has grown thogher because of that self control.

By ourselfs we would fall back into our old ways as if we have never changed, it's good to be reminded of our weakness and need for God.

It's interesting to note the words "Fear Not" are used in the Bible 365 times and even more interesting is how Jesus uses those words. While some may argue that God comforted people using those words in various contexts, we do need to reach a point as Christians where we don't need to hear the same thing 365 times for it to sink in!

But God knows what man is made of, and has decided to stick with us for the long haul, and I am one of those people who are deeply grateful to Him for sending me His abiding peace whenever I need it the most. Yes, we do need reminders that fear need not be a choice when He is present.

There are moments when we are all confronted with some level of fear or uncertainty, and have to overcome it. This is different for each person. Much of the overcoming comes by way a choice.

"I choose to trust God in the face of fear."

"I choose to believe God is fully able to keep me from falling."

"I choose to be renewed in my mind."

Thankfully, we are a work in progress, and He who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion.

Our walk of faith is a process. God is actively working things out in us, as we continue to surrender and submit areas of our life and patterns of behavior to Him. Most people do not enjoy confrontation. It evokes fear and apprehension. Keep in mind that you don't have to be perfect, and that you just want to make progress. Until the deeper areas of your soul are healed, things that are hidden deep down inside may come up under certain circumstances. God is only revealing to you, those areas that still need His touch. He will continue to conform you to the image of Christ, as you submit to His process, trust Him, and continue to seek Him during those times of confrontation.
