BTW..... I resent the "Whopper" comment. I have been known to tell something two or three different ways, to keep from lying about it.

This was WAY funny.
Now it sounds like you're channeling Samuel Clemens.

You probably just stole his jokes when you were school mates.

You were having some kind of party on the phones?
Maybe the old days weren't so different.
A Party Line meant that up to sometimes ten other people all up and down the block shared one phone line. Each phone had their own separate call-in number, but at any time somebody might be using the line and you would have to wait to make an out-going call. (Yes, everyone sneakily listened in on what your neighbors were talking about.)

So when I talk to clients about phone security...
that's not actually anything new?

I'll refrain from making a 'your mom' joke in response to the original post.

You're welcome.

There was no multimedia from midnight to 6am?

How did people survive?

I'm starting to feel like our ancestors where a heartier lot than us.

Not that I'm saying Willie is an ancestor.

I mean... yeah, that's not what I meant at all.

I mean, he WILL be an ancestor... I guess... eventually... I suppose.

Actually, I really have no idea when a person officially becomes an ancestor.

I guess the fair thing to do would be to let Willie decide for himself, but I don't think it's the kind of thing you get to choose.

Things in life are so complicated.

I met Zsa Zsa Gabor when I was about 20 yrs old. She was there in Orlando to advertise a cosmetic line; to bring in the crowds. :) I have a picture around here somewhere with the both of us in the photo.

My husband met Dano from Hawaii Five O in Hawaii at Pearl Harbor. He was MP and was assigned to him to protect him during an HFO shoot. It lasted for about a week.

I remember him mentioning that Jack Lord (Steve McGarrett) wore shoe inserts to make him look taller. :) And James MacArthur (Dano) was as nice in person as in the show. It was in 1978 or 79.

I've met a lot of musicians. When I worked for ISU, I had to accompany the Fire Marshall to the venue where concerts were held and help carry out the pyrotechnics inspections. I met a lot of different bands. Most were snobbish. A few were cool.

I met Stephen Baldwin at a small Wal-Mart in South Orange County, CA. This was years into his "being saved" time when he has that extreme sports ministry. I went up to ask him about his Ministry and he was quite unfriendly. Other employees came over and he continued go look annoyed. Then when he left he perked up and passed out ads for his new book. Everyone disliked him so much they threw his ad out immediately.

I worked at a bookstore in the area too. I helped the heavy guy from Lost. Never watched the show, so I didn't even know he wad famous until others came up afterwards and asked. A few months later I helped him again. Very nice guy. No ego. No flash. Just a normal, quiet guy.
Chances are I met more at that bookstore. It was known for having pro athletes, rock stars, actors, etc... discretely come in from time to time.
While I didn't meet her I did see Kirstie Ally filming for her tv shoe back 10 years ago.
I know I've met/seen more but can't remember who right now.
Funny thing is I'm not even the type to care too much. I only approached Baldwin about his ministry, otherwise I'd never have gone up to him.

I've been an arms length away from Carol from the Walking Dead, but at the time I had never watched the show so I didn't care.. lol and before she got a reality show I had a conversation with Whitney Way Thor from my big fat fabulous life. Oh and I know the guy that played the baby "Buddy" in fried green tomatoes.

I wish I could tell you guys who I knew before they were famous, but I don't think its a good idea... :/

I've been within a few feet of Arnold Schwarzenegger (and he is not short! Probably over 6') when he was still making action movies.

I saw my favorite local news reporter, Tracy Savage, one day at the beach. She was actually in the original Friday the 13th movie. I just found that out now

I saw the actor who played The Six Million Dollar Man's boss. I forget his name now. He died just recently. Richard something. We were on the same plane.

I am 99.99999999% sure i saw Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man actor) in a pristine classic red mustang near LAX back in the 1990's. He does own a red mustang too (I didn't know that back then).

I bumped into Jamie Lee Curtis few times, one time in the same elevator, because her kid was attending a school in the same building I was working in.

I met Jack Black in person, shook hand, actually served him coffee using my mug. True story. The guy was really cool.

Lastly I met someone really famous from here, Singles Forum, in person. True story.

I have met a very few in my time, but most were only like," Hi nice to meet you" if that. The one exception I can think of was Jake "The Snake" Roberts(the wrestler) after I heard him preach(yes he is an actual Christian). We talked for a few minutes and he encouraged me to be strong no matter the odds. He was a very nice person and very caring.

Oh, that reminds me. Im friends with a pair of twins from Canada online (theyre a bit younger than I, but are in the same social group I am), and they were in the Christmas film Elf : p They said they were like extras in the background when they were babies. Id have to ask them which part of the film they were in again cuz its been a while since they told us that : p

I met 2 here in the UK

1.) His a tv celb on Channel4. Darren Brown. My hand was in a cast then and met him at the stage door. The circumstances a long story but caught him as he came out. A few had waited so when he saw me he asked what happened to my hand?
I explained briefly to which he asked for a pen from those around me. He used a permanent marker and wrote this on the cast. David Heal and signed his name.
This was 2010 and that's then my life started changing. I recalled Jesus interaction with the centurion. Only say the word and my servant will be healed. What word??? Which word did Jesus utter that was so powerful that at distance this servant would be well again. It's never mentioned. Yet there it was, in my eyes. Heal.
This professed atheist gave me more than anyone ever has. One word: Heal. I've been without prescribed medication for 5 yrs now because of meditating on this word: Heal. And it's association in the Bible.

2.) His also a TV personality here in the UK. Chancellor at my son's University Graduation. During the photo session after the graduation, I had the opportunity to greet him. What struck me was in his speech, he said these words in a little story related to him as a past nobody being chancellor. The phrase: At Least I know What It Feels Like to be a Chancellor.

So people never know what it feels like to be Me, as I have no Idea what it feels like to be you. Yet we label and live with labels others place on us.

I'm very greatful to these and many other people who have offered their penny's worth, as they say.

My brother once met Michael Jordan. He was playing at a golf club where my brother worked, and they had cleared out the entire restaurant just so that Mr. Jordan could have privacy away from the public. My brother was working at the time and is a pretty charming person, so he went up to him while he was sitting alone and asked for an autograph. Mr. Jordan kindly obliged.

I also have a brother who stood in line for I don't know how long to have Todd McFarlane sign his "Spawn" comic book.

The only encounters I've had with famous people have been through writing.

As a kid, I wrote to President Ronald Reagan because we had something in common at the time, and I was impressed that in the reply letter, this fact was mentioned back to me. I'm sure he didn't write the letter himself but it was neat to see that someone had paid attention to details, as well as spelling my name correctly.

I have also written fan letters to two of my favorite authors, Dean Koontz, and Philip Yancey.

One thing I admire about Mr. Koontz is that he is a true rags-to-riches story (his family was so poor that they relied on wild game for most of their food) who always credits his wife for his success and is very grateful to his fans (I'm not sure about his religious status--I've read interviews in which he says he's "in the believing camp", but I don't know what he believes.)

On 2 separate occasions, Mr. Koontz sent me his newsletters (old-fashioned, snail-mail, real-paper newsletters that he produces and sends to his fans at his own expense) and hand-wrote a short note on them, each time mentioning specific things about something I had written in my letters.

In one letter, I had commented that I had been a long-time fan, and that in the picture on the jacket of his last book, he had a lot more hair than in the past! Mr. Koontz has a terrific sense of humor, and he wrote back (presumably in his own handwriting) and said that the secret to this was lots and lots of expensive (and, he wrote, "painful") hair transplants!

Another time, he sent me an autographed book. So I had 3 separate things onto which he had signed his name AND spelled my name correctly (which even my friends and family members often don't do, because my real name has an unusual spelling.) I do believe that each of these things were authentic.

Unfortunately, I was in a church with mentors who were on a big "get rid of worldly things" kick, and so, regrettably, I threw away everything Mr. Koontz had sent me. To this day, I still kick myself over that.

I also wrote 3 fan letters to Philip Yancey (my favorite Christian answer), and he was kind enough to respond each time with typed, but detailed, letters addressing everything I had written about, and signed with his name.

I met Arnold Schwarzenegger, Patrick Swayne, Demi Moore, and Luke Perry when I was coming out of an elevator at the Hotel Metropol in Moscow back in the early 90’s. I was there for some meetings when I was in the Air Force and they were there for the opening of a Planet Hollywood. I said hi as I walked by and Luke was the only one who said hi back. I think they were all surprised to hear someone speak English at that moment!

In the late 90’s, I was with a friend at the Fox Sports Studio (his girlfriend worked there) in Los Angeles. We got a tour and we met Howie Long, Terry Bradshaw, Chris Collinsworth, and Marc Levy.

I saw B.B. King up close once. He was getting in his travel trailer after a show. I did really know any of his music, I just went to the concert because some high school buddies were going. He didn't really sing much of anything, he kinda just rambled about what the song was about then sing part of it, then ramble some more. The opening prfomers were Ok though.
