Hey Everyone,

In order to support Pippy's request to help make Singles a little more random again, I present this discussion. :)

In a recent thread, our friend Off123 said he would be gone for a while in search of the Big Foot (http://christianchat.com/christian-singles-forum/159756-ive-gone-bigfootin.html).

This got me wondering what other kinds of creatures, objects, or people would you all might like to see or meet, and why?

Just for fun, I'm going to try to make a poll, but of course, the LIST COULD BE ENDLESS, and I'm hoping people will not only answer the poll, but also tell us what they'd like to know most about who or what they'd hope to see.

As a kid, I had heard about an expedition that was supposedly trying to find the Loch Ness Monster. At the time, I was rather excited because Nessie seemed to resemble one of my favorite dinosaurs (a brontosaurus), and how cool would it be to see something I'd only seen in books come to life!!!

I have also had a life-long fascination with mermaids, first of all, because they're supposedly half-human (how does that work, anyway), and second, because they can live in two different worlds (land and sea.)

I have also always loved artists' renditions of fantasy worlds and the beings that might live in them, because part of it is based on their own imaginations, and not on anything that exists in reality. But for a human artist, his or her imagination has its limits, and at some point, their creations will still be inspired by things that already exist.

This is one of the many things that fascinates me about God. When He created the world, He had NO reference points EXCEPT His own imagination, and we can see what HE came up with!!!

So as I became an adult, my list of things to see has changed a little over the years. Sure, I'd still love to see a mermaid, and a brontosaurus, but even more so, I would love to see:

1. The leviathan of Job 41 ("Can you pull in leviathan with a fishhook or... put a cord through his nose?") Is he something that we know today (like the whale), or was he an entirely different species?

2. The "big fish" that swallowed Jonah (Jonah 1:17)--could this also be the leviathan?

3. The fruit that tempted Adam and Eve. I have always wondered if it really was an apple, or if it was a unique specific kind of fruit that was never to be seen (or eaten) again. On second thought, I'm probably better off NOT seeing it, because I'm sure that just like Adam and Eve, I would probably be all too human and find it "good for food and pleasing to the eye," just like Eve! (Gen. 3:6.)

How about the rest of you?

What kinds of things would you like to see that do not exist in today's world (or at least, we haven't found them or attained them just yet)?

It could be also be something from the past or future, or something we believe exists, but just don't have the means to see it yet (kind of like how people suspected that tiny organisms could make people sick even before we could see them.)

It would be great to hear about the things YOU are curious about. :)

(I'll have a poll up in a few minutes. I know it can't include EVERYTHING, but I just wanted to give people a few possibilities.)

I'm looking forward to hearing you all share your imaginations. :)

I had wanted to make the answers to the poll public, just for fun, so that we could see who chose what :), but I was afraid people might get criticized or made fun of, so I made the poll private (no one can see your answers), and multiple choice.

However, I'm really hoping that people will talk about what they'd like to see, and why... Just because it seems like so much fun! :)

I'm going with unicorns because they are mentioned in the bible. If they are extinct that would them mythical instead of magical.

OH man, I just thought of something else...

I would like to see a Terminator! :D

Actually... what I'd REALLY like is to have my OWN Terminator, just like John Connor had in Terminator 2.

I mean, who needs a dog or a cat when you could have your own TERMINATOR. I'm guessing that would cut down on the school bullying...

Plus, I'm thinking I would TOTALLY KICK BUTT (literally) at "Show 'n' Tell." :p

I may just have to change my vote to seeing a mermaid on the back of a unicorn.

This is a great thread, Seoul! Okay, so I started responding before I noticed it was in the singles forum. I am not single!! But I didn't want to give up my chance to help you find the Loch Ness Monster, so here I am!!

You phrased the poll, "Which would we LOVE to see," and most of them are dangerous!! So even though I might be fascinated to see them, I could not in good conscience call it "love." Okay, so I put "Loch Ness monster, unicorns, pegasus, aliens (scary but I'd want to see them!!) and historical event."

Historical event I would most want to witness: Alien "crash" outside Roswell, New Mexico in summer of 1947! Such a bizarre story, I wanna know the truth!

Also, I want to hear the angels singing to the shepherds.. "Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests." I mean, I really want to see that! How much is a "host"? Or a great company? What do angel voices sound like? What does angel music sound like? What melody was it? I think Handel's Hallelujah Chorus is the closest thing we've come to as humans as being what this might have sounded like, but that's just a fantasy I have. :-D

One thing that wasn't on your list, Seoul, that I really want to see is the Illuminati. Are they real?? Do they exist?? I wanna be a fly on the wall on a super-secret meeting and also speak fluent Italian so I can understand them lol.

I have heard personal, first-person accounts of people who are reliable who have seen ghosts, and UFO's. (different people, all though my husband has seen both!) so there is a lot of really weird stuff out there! I wouldn't mind having my own story to tell! :)

Minotaurs. Even as a kid the concept fascinated me. I remember watching the movie Time Bandits and it having a minotaur in it and how thrilled I was since it was, and still is, such a rarely used beast. Even my autocorrect doesn't recognize the name.
Centaurs to a lesser degree, but still interesting. I think the basic idea of half human, half animal, in general, intrigues me for some reason.

Jen,

We have lots of very cool, encouraging married folks who come hang out with us here, so please don't feel shy about posting in Singles. :)

I have a feeling that with all your enthusiasm and expertise, we are going to find my Nessie in no time! :D (Brontosauruses are vegetarians, right? I'm thinking were going to need to bring A LOT of carrots...)

In return, I shall hold up to my end of the deal and help you find the Illuminati. However, I have to confess... My Italian's a little bit rusty (as in, non-existent.)

Oh well. Even if we don't find the Illuminati, at the very least, maybe we could find a good authentic pizza. :)

The two that really stick out to me are the legends of the Mothman and the Jersey Devil. I don't think I'd want to see the Jersey Devil, though.

I always wondered about vampires too. They'd certainly have to be more than a little elusive to exist, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility that they do.

I remember watching Dracula 2000 and the big reveal in the end that Dracula's true identity was/is Judas Iscariot, the disciple who betrayed Jesus. Obviously someone made it up, but I thought it was a clever and thought-provoking twist.

Dracula 2000 made me decide to never watch horror movies for the rest of my life, ever. Lol.

(Still writing a reply to this thread, there are SO MANY)

My vote isn't listed in the poll. I would have chosen "Leave Nessie alone! Poor beast needs its beauty sleep."

Personally I am reminded of an old quote: "In the 60's and 70's the world was normal and people took acid to make it seem weird. Now the world is weird and people take prozac to make it seem normal."

Ugly: Centaurs always puzzled me because they have two torsos. Do they have two stomaches and two intestinal tracts? If not, what is in that second torso, just muscle? And if the digestive system is in the first torso, does it make an extension to the normal excretory location for the animal part? Or if the digestive system is in the second torso, is the digestive part of the human torso just one long throat? Also with them being so front-heavy, how do they not tip over forward?

As for what mythical creatures I would like to see... none of them. I understand dogs and cats. If I met a minotaur or a unicorn I would have to learn a whole new set of body language.
