Sometimes I wonder what kind of composition a future spouse should be. And how do I find myself and does that match what people view me.

This is how I think my man should be:
50% smart
30% serious
15% silly
5% sexy

How I think I am:
20% smart
60% serious
19% silly
1% sexy

How others view me: (seriously. I asked someone)
50% silly
5% sexy
20% serious
25% smart

But from what I've heard it doesn't matter how serious/silly/smart/sexy he or she is when you love him or her.

Of course for me this is strictly anecdotal. But the couples I have seen stay together remained together regardless of presence or lack of any of the four S factors.

The point with this thread is therefore.....
do you want to describe a fellow CC-er in these parameters?
How do you describe yourself?
What do you look for in a spouse?

Perhaps I should give my view on Lynx, then.....
60% smart
20% serious (mainly due to his last super serious post here)
15% silly
5 % sexy. Only because of his intelligent looking eyes and pointy ears. Otherwise you know what I feel about felines.

Frankly none of the four S factors would matter to me.

Does she have to be silly for me to marry her? No, not really.
Does she have to be serious for me to marry her? Well a little bit - she'd better be serious when she says "I do." But it's not a critical factor.
Does she have to be smart for me to marry her? No, not really.
Does she have to be sexy for me to marry her? No, not really.
Does she have to be witty for me to marry her? No, not really.
Does she have to be clever for me to marry her? No, not really.
Does she have to be athletic for me to marry her? No, not really.

Does she have to be kind for me to marry her? Yes.

"If a person is nice to you but rude to the waiter, that is not a nice person." Kindness is the only essential I can think of that really matters to me. Serious, silly, sexy, smart, don't really matter.

PLEASE NOTE: All this is coming from a 39 year old guy who has never even been on a date before... so what do I know about it?

Kind... sounds nice. I think having a kind spouse would be a luxury I never have experienced and would be too much to dream of. I should learn to look for just that. Kindness. To keep it into the S-category would SWEET do? Or we could use the Norwegian word for kind "SNILL".

Either way. Snill will work.

But I'm reminded of this one lady at work... well, she's not really a lady... this one woman at work who would fit all four S categories well. She is about 80% serious, she can be about 70% silly, she's 100% smart and she can be about 60% sexy. From the initial categories of this thread she would be a good catch.

Two problems: One, she criticizes everything and I mean EVERYTHING! Two, she has a remarkable ability to insult. It just comes naturally, she is very good at finding an insult for any situation, for any person, at the blink of an eye. The insults fit very well with the criticism and are liberally incorporated in it. She is so good at insulting that she will never make a normal statement when an insult will fit the situation. And she sees nothing wrong with it.

She has been married three times, and frequently complains about never being able to find true love. I know what the problem is and why she can never find true love, but if I told her she would get offended. If she ever did fine true love she would criticize it to death, and no love is strong enough to stand up under constant criticism.

Yet another 'S' word: Snarky (aka Sarcastic). In this case though, it sounds like a "B" word might fit better....

I think all those attributes are good and Biblical fruits as well...a little of this and a little of that so it balances out...
My future husband has to have Godly at the top putting in 100% effort.Without that a lasting relationship would never work.
I also like smart, nerdy, silly...to me all of this adds up to sexy!

I guess we are in for the same kind of men... I guess it won't be a problem as we live so far apart. And you are beating me in the kindness department, sexy department and smart department. I guess you are more serious than I am, so I am stuck with silly :p

Sis, that is not even true! I'm a dumpster fire! I have way more baggage than you could imagine! You are way smarter and much more talented than I could ever be! We both have disabilities that confine us...but you do more than I could ever hope to! It's not a competition thank God! Because I have royally screwed up so bad...I'm currently face planted waiting on God to direct me. I don't dare do anything without Him telling me to.

That's very kind of you to say...but truly I spent 21 years being God's prodigal daughter because I turned away when I was 15...some of the things I did even make my jaw drop in stunned silence.
PTL that His love never fails when we do.
