Growing up in socialistic Norway during the 70's, we were only allowed to watch the one and only state owned TV-channel. Private broadcasting was banned. 30 minutes every day were reserved for children's TV. To compensate for this deprived childhood, I would like you guys to help me fill in the gap on all I have missed.

So please, post your favorite childhood TV shows, memorable scenes, the show you watch eating cookies and drinking a glass of milk to. All good and not so good childhood memories in one thread.

This is a classic about the real Norwegian nisse (Santa) and his children on Christmas eve.

As a young child, I watched Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, Reading Rainbow, and The Muppet Show. The cartoons I liked on Saturday mornings were Looney Tunes, and on Saturday afternoons I would watch GI Joe and Transformers.

First time I have a heard about severe trauma caused by Sesame street. Good our government protected us against that.

I liked the Flintstones. I believe that this was the first 30 minute full-length cartoon to be on prime time. Where I lived it was on Friday night. I enjoyed the Jetson's too. Also, Jonny Quest. Loved all of the Looney Tunes cartoons also, Felix the Cat and Caspar The Friendly Ghost. Good stuff.

I am not sure. Although Bozo the Clown was one of them, and Captain Kangaroo another.

My brother and I watched Sesame Street a lot! I still love Sesame Street and The Muppets - the Muppet Family Christmas, where everyone (Sesame Street, the Muppets, Fraggle Rock) spends Christmas with Fozzie's mom at the farmhouse is still my favorite Christmas movie! :)
Funny fact, my mom couldn't stand Mr. Rogers, so we never got to watch that show. :)

Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood was the best. He was a beautiful, gentle soul who embodied Christian love and ethics. He was a great role model for all of us, and was on governmental television, not private. It seems that our governmental channel’s programming is of a higher quality than our private channels. This is my opinion, of course. If you have not seen Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, you should. It is uplifting, like going to Sunday School.

Rogers was a Presbyterian minister, incidentally.

Here is a special clip of Mr. Rogers. It shows just how beautiful and kind this good man was. Funnily, Rogers was on an episode of Candid Camera. The set up was that he was in a hotel room and there was no television. Other guests ranted and raved. Rogers very sweetly assured the hotel employee that it was quite alright and not a burden. He was more concerned about relieving the employee's distress than demanding his rights. Rogers was the real deal.
