Disclaimer: I’m pretty positive there’s been other threads like this. I’m too lazy to dig them up.

There’s a huge puddle at the corner of my driveway. It shouldn’t be a puddle this time of year, it should be a snow bank, but it’s been a weird winter. This puddle was frozen over this morning, and the white ice looked like thousands of tiny bubbles were stuck in it. I found it strangely beautiful.

Spider webs in the sunlight are mesmerizing to me; one minute they’re barely there, but then the light shifts and it’s just this intricate, gleaming piece of art.

I grew rosemary in a planter with some other herbs last summer; after the cold and snow set in, I realized I hadn’t brought those plants in. When I checked on them, the basil and oregano were dead, but the rosemary was happy as could be...it was lovely.

What are some simple, mundane things you find beautiful or fascinating?

* Sunsets and sunrises always fill me with awe. They signify ends and beginnings and each one of them is unique. The gradient colors, the light and the sounds always make me contemplate about God and even in the ugliest of times, give me hope.

* I love airports. They have become home for me. I don't particularly enjoy going through security or using airport bathrooms but they have become an escape for me. I feel "myself" when I am out traveling solo. I have no pretenses and I am at home in the lounge reading, preparing or just silent with my thoughts. The crowds don't phase me. I am just a fellow traveler ready for an adventure.

* I love a good latte in a big coffee mug. I am not a coffee connoisseur, but latte art in a round mug is exciting.

* I like lying on the edge of the bed with my head upside down. The rush of blood to the head and my hair spilling out is thrilling. It seems kiddish but its something that is still fun for me.

* Once when I was on a walk, feeling absolutely dejected, I saw something that I couldn't stop smiling at. A troop of little children were running down the canal with a little black dog.
The little black dog would run ahead of the troop but would always stop to look back and check if the children were following him. It was such an endearing and comical sight, I stopped just to watch them.
It was funny how that made me consider how life was far more valuable than what I was worried about. Their laughter and excitement was very beautiful.
I wish I had taken a picture. It was right out of a scene in a storybook that I had imagined what life would be, way, way back in my own childhood.

I love looking at pictures of sunrises and sunsets on my computer. Sometimes I'll go to Google images or Yahoo images and type in 'sunrise' or 'sunset'. Then I get kind of a natural high looking at picture after picture.

A psychologist would say that the dog was making sure he/she doesn't overstep their emotional boundary... the maximum distance from their human/s in which they still feel safe, beyond which lurks unforeseen danger and "the great unknown"... Humans also feel the same desire to stay fairly close to that which is familiar to them, like home and family... (but I know you already knew that.. I'm just babbling..)

I love airports too, because it's where planes live! :)

Zero, I did not know the psychological need to maintain emotional boundaries! Thank you for sharing that.

It reminds me a little about God and His Word - how we always return to the familiarity of Him!

What I did know was that you love airports too ^_^ !

I simply love the industrial grade flooring glue they use to paste down protective covers on mayonnaise so you have to stick your fingers in it to get it off. It's just adorable.

I love hearing birds sing. When I first moved to the apartment, it must have been flying lessons season because there would be about 5-10 birds sitting on the stair rail right outside our door. Most of them just singing away. It was so beautiful.

wait. Maybe it was mating season and they were trying to attract a partner. Lol!

This is the north-facing window in my living room. The sun had just come up and the temperature outside was well below zero. I don’t know what the orange glow came from. But I always think it’s pretty when the inside of our windows ices up like that.

Misscris,

This is a thread i am happy to see, for i did think of looking for one such before, but not really found one-- except something on simple pleasures... Here are some for me:

Ants and mosquitoes, although not always welcome, but are part of daily life. Mosquitoes are fascinating.
Butterflies and bees, fireflies and ladybugs too
Dew on the grass
Glass of milk
Grasses, although not all are little
A harmonica (that does not weigh too much on a shoulder bag, and you can carry anywhere)
A hug
Leaves and seeds of various shades, shapes, and sizes
Mint drops and Rain drops
Notes that dance on a music staff
A song, often just 3-5 minutes, but bringing much joy
Small white, fragrant sampaguita, or jasmine flowers
Sunbeam
Whiskers on kittens

Dum-dum, dum-dum, "cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudel, door bells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles. Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings..." Ok, nvm. Mar's post about whiskers on kittens got me into this :p...

Getting that sweet last minute dodge from a monster's attack that would otherwise kill me in the Monster Hunter games...
