I re-read the title and thought... "Pipp has a boyfriend!"... (lucky guy... he'll get the maple bacon cupcakes!)

Can we just talk about fad words for a sec...

Who decided it was cool to use words like bae and cray?
Just to name a few..

Bae
Cray
On fleek
Snack
Swag
Thot
YOLO
Turnt
Rekt
Ratchet
I'm positive there are many many more...

I try to imagine being on a date and my guy looking at me and saying " Bae you lookin like a snack today... dem eyebrows on fleek" You talking about ruining a date... I'd be out of there quicker than he could blink his eyes..

So tell me... do you use these new fad words ? Can you think of more fad words ? What's the best fad sentence you can come up with?

I give up. My vocabulary was set in stone around 1986.

Someone once told me that my eyebrows were "on fleek", and I had no idea what that meant.

I figured it was a typo, and for some reason, I thought he meant to say that my eyebrows were "on fleeT". Not that this interpretation was any better... But I actually thought he meant "on fleet", as in a fleet of starships... Like as in a reference to Star Trek.

Basically, I thought he was telling me that my eyebrows looked like Mr. Spock's--and I wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing.

The one I could never get was "sick"-- as in,"Yo, she looks totally sick!"

And of course I'd be thinking, "She looks just fine to me..."

Sigh. I don't like admitting that I'm getting old. But, I think I'm getting old.

Back in the day, I also had a phondness for writing out "phat" when I wrote a letter when that was a big phad...

It was just for phun, but it totally drove my phriends (or was that phiends) crazy. :p
PHAT is an acronym for: Pretty Hot And Tempting.

I had to ask someone in 1993.

What does "Thot" and "Ratchet" mean?
Ratchet I hear all the time. In my world, it's a mechanism that allows a work load to apply in one direction, without slipping in the other.

Apparently, it means something or someone is messed up.

It's kind of funny how every generation thinks the next generation's slang is so much more ridiculous than their own. But now I have to wonder if WE ever realize how ridiculous WE sounded "back then"...

As I was shaking my head at words like "Bae" and "adorzies", I had to remember that I'm from the generation that invented The Garbage Pail kids and phrases like, "Barf me out the door" (I always hated that phrase... way too graphic for me!)

How in the world we have all now made it to middle-aged adulthood is beyond me.

no kidding! stayed out playing till street lights came on...didnt care where we were out riding our bikes...ran with scissors...used gasoline to light the fire pit...layed out in the sun with vegetable oil on...ran all over the neighborhood...mowed the grass with flip flops on...climbed to the top of 50 foot trees...climbed up and sat on the roof...jumped on beds...so many other crazy things like chasing right behind the bug fogging trucks...how safe was that?

all in all...we seem sane compared to the new kids...lol
