Opinion time... Nose rings...what do we think of them ? Are they associated with worldliness and rebellion or are they Biblical and acceptable?

Are you distracted by someone having their nose pierced ? Do you think it takes away from their effectiveness for the Lord ?

Guys, does it take away from a ladies attractiveness ?

Now I'm talking

And Not

As far as spiritually or for their witness i think it's irrelevant.
For my personal tastes I dislike them beyond some regular ear piercings.

At the conservative church where I grew up, my entire childhood/young adulthood was a huge list of DON'T's-- so certainly any other piercings besides ONE tiny puncture in each ear was definitely a DON'T. I don't have tattoos or any "alternative" piercings... but, I have always been drawn to people who DO have them and still am. I suppose it's my own way of subconscious rebellion.

I don't like the look of "other" piercings for myself (I just have the standard single-pierced ears), but I've been friends with people who have had all kinds of different markings and body jewelry. A youth pastor at one of the churches I attended had those round disks in his earlobes, which isn't something I'd want personally, but he himself was a lovely person.

I always get a kick out of Christians who freak out about nose rings. Rebecca, the woman that Abraham's servant Eliezer found to be his son Isaac's wife, very clearly had a nose ring, because it was one of the pieces of jewelry that Eliezer gave her for watering his camels: "So I put the ring on her nose and the bracelets on her wrists..." (Gen. 24:47.)

As if this wasn't enough, God Himself says, about His affections for Israel as His bride that: "I clothed you in embroidered cloth and provided you with leather sandals. I also wrapped you in fine line and covered you in silk. I adorned you with jewelry, putting bracelets on your wrists and a chain on your neck. I put a ring in your nose, earrings on your ears, and a beautiful tiara on your head..."

But many of the Christians I grew up around considered things like nose rings to be a horrible sin that would certainly send you straight to hell. Ironically, these same people would then tell us that we all needed to go home and read our Bibles regularly.

Apparently... They didn't want us to read the parts of the Bible that they themselves had missed... or never read.

Yet they were always telling the “truth”:p

Not necessarily, I just wanted other people's opinions. Like Kim I grew up (and i mostly still am ) very conservative . BUT I saw a lot of double standards, that's why I was wondering if people found this atrocious. Lol mainly just a curiosity.

I do however think a small nose stud is pretty.

Well, since you asked... I don't think there is anything morally or biblically wrong with nose rings/studs. However, frankly, I find them nauseating. Same with most piercings other than earlobes. Each to his/her own. :)

Nose rings were a sign of betrothal in the bible, even God used the picture
of jewellery and a nose ring.

Ezekiel 16:11-14 NKJV
[11] I adorned you with ornaments, put bracelets on your wrists,
and a chain on your neck. [12] And I put a jewel in your nose,
earrings in your ears, and a beautiful crown on your head.
[13] Thus you were adorned with gold and silver, and your clothing
was of fine linen, silk, and embroidered cloth. You ate pastry
of fine flour, honey, and oil. You were exceedingly beautiful,
and succeeded to royalty. [14] Your fame went out among the
nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through
My splendor which I had bestowed on you," says the Lord GOD.

Personally I wouldn’t want a nose ring. I mean how do you
pick your nose or blow it when you have a cold!

Yeah, I wouldn't overspiritualize this conversation to much. I actually like studs and think they look good. Rings can be okay if they are small and subtle, and only if they are in the nostril. Any type of septum piercing is a huge turnoff for me.

I don't like tattoos or piercings. Just the regular ear lobe piercing. :p When I was in high school I got a second piercing on my ears...but I let them close because I didn't like having two holes in each ear! lol

But I don't judge others who do have them. That's what they like. People have different tastes. There are some women who are very pretty that have nose rings.

The nose piercing has got to go. I wonder how many buggers get stuck to the back side of it.

I had a stud just like the one you shared...but I took it out after 8 most because it was always sore and was building scar tissue inside.

I don't find guaging attractive. It is not reversible. If someone has piercings or tats i don't judge them because I believe to each their own. Sometimes it is a part of the life journey and testimony in people's lives.
