This Thread Title keeps reminding me of a certain hair salon called Xpress Yourself. Whenever I call to make an appointment they answer the phone, "Xpress Yourself!" Sometimes I resist the temptation, but sometimes I say something like, "yes, I would like to schedule an appointment for removal of hair on my anterior surface next Wednesday at approximately 10:37 am." They recognize my voice and they actually laughed when I explained I was expressing my inner nerd because they told me to express myself. Yeah, they actually laughed, bless their sweet hearts!

I am verbal, better in writing than speaking. I sometimes stutter and sound insecure when I speak. Sometimes I have a sharp tongue and can make an argument fall apart with my punch line. So. I express myself in semliong essays or articles.

I shouldn't state how others express themselves, but Lynx gas a way of it with his songs. He always has a suitable song for every occasion.

I have found that my most successful ways of "expressing myself" are...
1.Empathizing with others who have similar problems as I do
2.Being completely quiet around people typically expresses that I'm troubled,don't want to talk to anyone for a time,or that I am just tired,or that my mind is rather clear and wouldn't mind talking to someone

Of course he does. He must! How else would he keep those fantastic tufts of ebony hair on his ears so groomed and his beautifully spotted gold coat, padded paws, and long whiskers so immaculate? Kitty cats like to stay neat and tidy. They're cool like that. :cool:

I express myself through writing (books, plays, and bad poetry. The books and plays are good, though), photography, sassiness, sarcasm, more sassiness, and anyother which way I choose.


Mostly writing.

Of course, I use speaking the most. But writing is really a close second, since I have about 10 pen-pals, an absent brother, and you all here on CC :). Preferably, actual pen-and-paper writing. Email is ok. Text is worse, and calling on the phone for communication, never! My favorite way to communicate really important things is in writing, for sure.

I used to. They cut men's hair too you know, and they were the only ones I could get to cut it like I wanted.

Nowadays I just get a buzz cut about five times a year (whenever it grows enough to get in my ears) so I can go anywhere at all.

You are also 20 years older than me, so I'm not sure why you chose to write to me. I could easily be your daughter, and I already have a wonderful father.

I hope you can find a group in which you feel comfortable revealing a little bit more about yourself before expecting them to talk with you privately, and then on another site, right off the bat.

This is a dignified and moderate remonstrance. Kim defended herself WITHOUT retaliating against the accuser with railing accusations of her own.

Now if only some other people on the forum could learn this trick...

I think verbal is both writing and speaking.

Originally, oral is speaking, and verbal is writing, but far as I know, the prurient associations connected with the word oral has made verbal also apply to the spoken word.

The point is I am verbal. I need to speak. But sometimes my tongue twists and it comes out better in writing.

What are you talking about? Your accent is so nice. I wish I talked like some of y'all southerners.

I like to express myself by writing. I have many journals and diaries that no one can read! Most of them are prayers. Kinda like letters to God.

Well... "Good" is somewhat subjective, and any cat as complacent as the one in that video was obviously drugged... but the song fits the thread.

I have always been fascinated by the way people are gifted in different areas. Unfortunately, it took me this long to also figure out that while a person might be quite comfortable with one method, they might not be able to express themselves well through another.

I have met people who give a spoken description so well it's as if I were there, but if they try to put it down on paper, for some reason, nothing else comes out besides, "I had pizza for dinner," which is fine, but for some reason, everything they wanted to say gets lost in translation.

I'm also fascinated by the many subcategories of the various means of communication itself. For some reason, I've never been able to get into classic literature or poetry. It's like a foreign language to me that I can neither speak nor read very well.

Sorry ladies, Jane Austen bores me to death, and to me, Mr. Darcy sounds like a pansy (please don't all stone me at once--I love you, I just have different tastes is all.)

But if I meet someone who expresses themselves in another way... It's almost like living on land your whole life and the meeting someone who lives in the water and then trying to come up with a common ground. It's fascinating, frustrating, and rewarding all at the same.

And, truth be told, I hope I get more opportunities to do so as I go through life and continually meet new people.
