Since you suddenly one day realized that your gay does not mean that you are. Maybe you will wake up tomorrow and realize that you are a normal 18 year old heterosexual guy. God can change your thought process on this but it may take a little time. I am glad that you have believed in Jesus your whole life.

I don't have any problem whatsoever with those that are gay. I have had gay bosses and gay friends so it don't bother me at all. The bible does say that acting on these gay impulses is an abomination so you will have to pray for God to help you to avoid temptation and also perhaps a prayer for clarity on who you really are inside.

Glad to have you as part of our community. Welcome to CC.

I am going to ask a question that has upset many a person, but it really does need to be addressed, so please know that I am not judging you in any way! Are you a Christian who has given your whole life to Christ? Because that is the first step!

The Bible is pretty straight-forward about gays and such. It's sin. Sin to be struggled against and avoided and given to God. Because you know what? You're right. You absolutely can't change your sex or your mindset. Just like I can't keep on the straight and narrow when it comes to my own issues (currently working on technology abuse and contentment with singleness), without God's love and help. Our nature is sinful. When God comes into our life he gives us the desire and ability to struggle against that sinful nature for for His glory. We can't even begin to "be good" without Him.

You know YOU, that's the first step. The next step is to know God and to know what He says about your life. The next step is to see the sin in your life. After that, you pray that God would give you the desire to fight against it and see it as wrong, and you repent and turn to God, and struggle against it. And then you give it back again...and again.

I don't see this as being controversial in the slightest - nonetheless good that you said it!

It is confusing to me as well...I just know what I've experienced, and that is that it is often taken as a judgement, when it is merely a question for clarification.

Sure there's something you can do: Don't have sex. I am not gay, but I can't have sex either-outside of marriage.

God loves you... We are not perfect and I really understand you since also I grew up in church but that doesnt mean that you born again in Christ.. Im not judging since probably Im under your same situation since Im a party girl and drink alcohol and is something I know its wrong but sometimes is difficult to quit to something you enjoy but this is the thing: we cant justify our sin, if we choose to live a life in flesh we cant expect anything good from it. So after reading the bible and pray I find out something amazing.. God is love and He knows our heart, for example: King David.. after all the things that he made in flesh he was named by God "A man after God's heart" and the reason was that he loves God above everything but nothing he did was left without a consequence and this is the key point of everything.. If you are a son of God you can sin but it will brings a painful consequence and is not from God.. it comes from your acts... now if you really feel that you are saved by grace you cant live in sin... everyday I pray to live a life in righteousness and sometimes its hard to overcome temptation but in Jesus everything is posible. But if you feel that having a homosexual feeling overcomes you, you better inspect the fact that you are a religious person but not a new born in Christ.. I hope God guides you to His will and give you discernment of the right path :)

PS: PSalm 51:*Make me to hear joy and gladness;*that*the bones*which*thou hast broken may rejoice.

9*Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

10*Create in me a*clean*heart, O God; and*renew*a right spirit within me.

My best advice is to go over to amazon and watch or read ( looks like it's both a book and movie) Sing over me, the one about Dennis Jernigan, a worship leader and worship song writer who also struggled with same sex attraction. We can give you all kinds of platitudes, but learning to walk God's road through this will probably be taught best by someone who's already done the same.

What were your beliefs about Jesus when you were three years old?

How does he work in your life?

Do you work your life for him at all?

I became a believer at 16. At 32, I realized I was a gossiper. Does that, somehow, make it okay, because I just woke up some morning and realized I was a gossiper? Should I just learn to accept that and keep watching Jesus do stuff for me and pray for some miracle?

And truthfully, how much of a believer are you, if you don't know what the Bible says about either thing -- gossiping or homosexuality?
