I find it inspirering to see how people use their skills at church or otherwise serving God and the body of Christ.

Earlier I used to play at services at the student church and I continued that for a bit when I moved to Finland as well. I miss that, and I hope to do it again soon. I was also a part of the team leading the children's choir when I studied. In Finland I taught at the parish' music school and played in their orchestra.

Now I volunteer as a translator in the Bible app. I took a break for over a year, because I was too depressed and worn out. I am happy to be back, though. It is great to translate bible reading plans both to make them more accessible to Norwegian speakers, but also to study them myself.

I would love to hear what you guys do, as I believe all of us can do something, and sharing your experiences can inspire others.

at my home church, I taught Sunday school and sang with the music team. there were times I helped with youth group, but my fave was singing.

at my present local assembly, I play violin with the music team. I'm still fairly new, so I haven't gotten involved with other things. I wouldn't mind teaching again, but I don't think it's time yet.

The church I attend planted a new campus a year ago and for the time being we meet in a school gymnasium. Most weeks I'm the first guy in the door and one of the last out. I'm pretty much the set it up, tear it down, clean it up, fix it if it's broke guy.

When my children were babies, I helped in the church nursery. When they were toddlers, I taught children’s church and wrote Bible songs so they’d memorize the scriptures easily. As my kids got older, they joined the youth group, and I held Bible study in my home, led an aerobics class for young mothers, was on the prayer chain, on the hospitality team (cooking, cleaning, serving at church), hospital visitation, nursing home ministry, counselled young people in crisis, sang with a Christian choral production, etc. etc. My kids and I were always busy with church activities and volunteered for various services. We pretty much lived at church and the members were our extended family.

Now that my kids are grown, I rest in the Lord, I walk with Him everywhere I go, talk with Him all the time, intercede for Him, for His will to be done, I sing to God, meditate with Him, I stare at His face in my heart and listen to Him in my spirit. I talk to people everywhere I go and show them the love of Christ. And I pray a lot for family, friends, and folks.

Cool thread topic !
Well have done the greeting at the door and welcomed new folks that attend worship services.
I also have translated ( English-Spanish) in our Bible study for our Spanish speakers.
I also try to fill in the gaps . Doing the stuff that pops up time to time .
Blessings

I am not attending a local assembly, but I do watch church online currently. I have headed up the nursery and taught in the children's ministry. When God leads me to my home church I would love to get involved in the children's ministry again :)

When I was going to church I was active as a teen. In youth group I was in the praise and worship band, and in two youth groups I was in leadership. I also helped fill in for the main worship services a few times.
For a time i was a regular visitor to my church during the day, to see the youth pastor and sometimes got asked to help out with things.

Our church is very small, with only 17 members...about 20-24 adult attendants upon average. We have 13 children under ten in regular attendance! The children usually sit with their parents during the service, but afterward we always have a shared meal and fellowship for a few hours, and I take care of kids. I love kids, so it's great! Something of a three-ring circus sometimes, though :D. The parents are used to it now, and they pretty much let their hair down and don't worry about the kids for a bit. It's a nice break for them. I also help out with children's Sunday school if the regular teacher is gone or busy, and help with cooking for the shared meals. And cleaning, which is about the only part that I do NOT love. lol

I went to one church from about age 6-17, and never really helped with anything. Well, sometimes the youth group cleaned up trash, so I did do that. From 17-32, I attended random churches less than once a year. Last fall, we started going to a new church. In January we became members, and through February and March we took a class for new members that helps the pastor get to know us and also helps figure out the best fit for where we should serve. The goal is partly to make sure nobody gets burned out or feels pushed into something they aren’t comfortable doing.

So! So far I’m learning to run the projector for worship, have gotten to design an invitation for an appreciation dinner, and will get to decorate for it when the time comes. I bring food whenever needed and help with cleanup, but so far I haven’t gotten very involved. I told the pastor that the bulk of my time goes into raising my kids and taking care of my family but that I’m willing to do whatever the church needs- he told me that he wishes more stay-at-home moms understood that raising a family IS serving God, and while he’s found me some ways to help out at church, he said he also hopes that I see the value in caring for my home and family.

And...I mean, I do see it- but I had been feeling kind of small and useless throughout our class because everyone else seemed to have their niche, clear direction, while I was like...I have no idea where I fit here. But, God is good and sees us even when we feel invisible, and I’ve been given ways to serve that get me involved without taking me away from where I’m needed most for now.

I always feel like a braggart in these threads...

I pick up the kids on the church bus and take them home, sing onstage, preach when the pastor asks me to, vacuum the church every two months or so (it is vacuumed every week, but we have a rotation of groups of people) trouble-shoot when something goes wrong with the sound booth or copier... and when there is cooking or construction I'm the unskilled labor. I fetch nails or boil eggs while the people who know what they are doing hammer boards in place or make chicken and dressing.

Oh! Back home, when our usual projector person wasn’t able, I would run the computer for it, which I enjoyed too. The computer is in a small room in the back of the sanctuary, so no one could see me, but I still sang loud in there lol

When young sang and did plays we would go putting on programs in different churches. As a teen led out in teen class. Older still sang in several groups plus choir, taught teen class. Was a fund raiser to buy a house in Lithuania for $2,000.00 to be used as a church at the time I was paying $40.00 a month for a fixed covered parking spot at work and when I found out the salary of a Bible worker was that same amount I gave up my parking spot and paid the salary for that same home church to have a Bible worker in it for a couple of years.

Made breakfast before church about once a month they offered breakfast every week but several of us took turns. Did a little street witnessing. Singing is and was my first love of sharing and I miss not being a part of a group now if I had the chance I'd do it again. Would love to sing with Lynx or Melita.....I know they love it too.

Remind me not to go to Maxwell's church without covering my head, having my hair neatly in a bun, no jewlery, no make up and trying hard to looking meek. And of course no speaking in church.

I was just thinking this morning I miss singing with my previous music team. At my new assembly, I don’t know the lyrics to songs, so I’m not singing yet lol. Quite a change from a Spanish speaking to English speaking assembly.

I am pretty sure if I try to get into the worship team, they will put an instrument in to my mouth. Whether it is clarinet, sax or, of course, bassoon. I have tried singing in different choirs, but I always end up in the orchestra. Does that mean I can't sing? No. But I think I might be of greater service playing.
