Absolutely my friend, away from work and at home. I have started to use your saying at work, someone asked how I was doing today and I said that I was 'living the dream'. He said he was living a nightmare. I also told him that maybe I was lying. That made him laugh.

I feel safest when I'm standing at the end of someone else's bed, breathing heavily while watching them sleep.

Jokes. My safe place is in my kitchen pantry, where no comfort food is safe. Lol.

Where's your safe place? Where do you belong?

This is where I belong: https://hanzhen71317.wordpress.com/2018/05/12/where-i-belong/

What about you?
I went to the site you posted and it looks like a classroom. The person posting that site is a teacher , who evidently only feels safe in front of her students.
In that context, I don't need a safe space because I can be myself all the time. I'm comfortable with who I'am, if someone disagree's or doesn't like me, well, that's OK with me, I'm not threatened by people not thinking like me.

Australians are the ones you have to worry about. I don't know if America took this true story to make it into a horror movie but apparently Wolf Creek was based on a true story in Australia. Personally, I haven't seen it myself but I've heard it's quite a scare.

During WWII, the German Afrika Korps were more afraid of facing Aussie regiments than anybody else. True story.

If you scare Nazis, you must be scary.

Perhaps you are thinking of a "Safe Zone," the area so designated in many college campuses, an area where it is not allowed to talk about anything controversial for fear of hurting somebody's feelings.

A safe place is a concept as old as human fear and need for comfort. My safe place is here in this room I'm sitting in, in front of my computers.

Yeah. I know. It's called a joke. No need for a lecture.
