What's your usual stop? And why dont u feel safe at target?

Out here, target is like where all the hipsters with lots of disposable income shop and walmart is where sometimes you see scary people shop. I don't even like being in the walmart parking lot because there are sometimes beggars hanging out there and they will come up to you as you're walking to your car.
I usually go to either WinCo or Fred Meyer (aka Kroger).

I don't feel safe at Target because in this area there have been people spying on others while they are in the dressing rooms and Target will not do a thing about it and I don't agree with their stance on the transgender movement so I will not support their business. Like AuntieAunt I love shopping second hand for things....I have gotten incredible bargains like I purchased a Calvin Klein hat for $3 and it still had the tags on it and I always get compliments when I wear it

That is scary! But I don't think I'm in any danger of being spied on in the dressing room anytime soon...

We don't have Walmart in Australia but we do have Target. We also have K-Mart. K-Mart used to be the cheaper option but now they are almost the same in price and quality in most areas.

My goal is to start shopping at Amish markets or farmers markets.

While we were in Indiana last year we went to Amish markets too. There is an Amish community in Sarasota that is close to where we live and have ate in an Amish restaurant. Now we're not Amish but my wife appreciates the simplicity of how they chose to live. Personally, I don't get it but they make a good apple butter though. :)

I voted for Walmart only because they are only a mile from where we live while Target is about 4 miles away. Both have very competitive prices but the selection is somewhat limited and the service is practically non-existent. Also, very few cashiers at Walmart so you wait in line for a long time. More cashiers at Target, more selection and better customer service.

We buy almost all of our groceries at Publix which is the biggest grocery chain in Florida. Their motto is "Shop Publix where shopping is always a pleasure". This is true but the service comes at a price that we're willing to pay. My wife hates Walmart, especially because how that particular store treats their employees. She does buy a lot of non-food items at Walmart.com which is fairly reliable, competitive, and fast.

I worked at Walmart a couple years ago for almost a year in the bakery. Always short staffed and management making unreasonable demands. I spent many days working entirely alone in that department and the phone would always be ringing telling me to do other things. One day a manager called when I was by myself and told me to stock the mini fruit pies in the front. Told her that I was in the middle of monitoring the bread that was being baked and that I was working alone. She told me that she didn't care and that she wanted the pies stocked now. Told her that the there wasn't any pies to stock and besides that I wasn't about to let the bread burned. The nasty witch hung up on me. Good thing too because I was about to tell her my opinion on her management skills and that she needed to get a life.

Screw the mini fruit pies.

I haven't stepped foot in Target since their official policy became acceptable to let men into ladies dressing rooms and bathrooms if they felt like a woman that day.

I don't think grocery stores count in this fight. They're a different genus entirely.

I think that is a big problem with retail managers and large retail companies these days. They are out of touch with their own operations. Walmart seems out of touch with the customer as well. They're all about cutting costs to boost profits...and the public in general seems to not care as long as they are getting the best price and a good selection to choose from...

The only one that seems to be the exception is Costco... its still considered a good company to work for. They are the only ones that seem to cater to customers and take care of their employees as well. Target would crush Walmart if it just offered a bigger selection and lower prices.

Yeah, but then there's that old saw that ya get what ya pay for.

I'm thinking particularly of clothes. The slight increase in cost at Target seems to correlate with much better quality. You can shop there and fool people into thinking you went to a small shop at the mall or trendy internet retailer. Can't do that at Wal-Mart.

Darlene and I love shopping at Costco. The service is great and the employees seem happy and engaged in their tasks. I predict that eventually Walmart will end up with the same fate as K-Mart. You are correct, they are out of touch with their customer base and treat their employees like trash. Their constant expansion in the goal of dominance will eventually be the cause of their ruin. One day they will be having a severe cash flow problem because of their ambitious plans and will start to default or become late in paying the vendors. Eventually the vendors will stop selling their stuff at near cost to them and tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine. I predict this will happen in the next 10 years if not sooner. Good riddance. Walmart has destroyed entire communities and is generally a bad neighbor.

Ugh, I dont fit in target's clothes... They're double extra large shirts are like regular large at walmart... I'm a 52 shirt size (and its not all fat lol)... But I'm picky about materials and haven't had any problems with the clothes I buy from walmart.

Yea, but the thing that is saving walmart from going belly-up right now is the fact that they really have no competition among brick and mortar stores. The only competition they have to worry about is amazon, but even amazon won't deter people from getting a good deal close to home..

Amen.

I shopped at Kroger while living in Tennessee. My daughter shops there in Michigan.
Best food I ever had. :) Usually, I eat it faster than everything else, if it comes from that store.

I don't think grocery stores count in this fight. They're a different genus entirely.
This. I was thinking this. That being said ... ...

... ... I guess I'll have to pick Walmart because the clothes are cheaper and I do actually like how they look. There was about a half-decade period where all of Walmart's clothing did not appeal to me at all and it all looked ugly. It's very different now. I actually like the clothes. I won't bother spending a lot of money at Target for their clothing, even if it did look great.

If I can't choose an online retailer, then yeah, I'd stick with Walmart.

On a side note, I tend to do major shopping at Walmart at nighttime. If it's only a few items, I buy it quickly and then get out. I've been known to rush through the store with my grocery list. At night, I can take my time and be content and happy and the people working the night shift are actually nice.

Ooohh one of my favorite things to do was to go to walmart in the middle of the night. It was so cool having the whole store to myself and back then they sold cool stuff that I loved browsing... but they stopped being 24 hours here a few years ago and they don't sell all that cool stuff anymore.. :(

Aw, bummer! It's really the only way I can get everything I need without people messing with me. That, and I live in a small town full of people with a chip on their shoulder, so if I go any other day, or even on a Friday evening, no less(!), it's absolute torture. I'd rather rip out a toenail with pliers. Best time to go to Walmart is at midnight between Monday thru Wednesday, I think.
