I have it do you?

I can be so irrational sometimes. Part of my testimony is thinking i was this great guy for a girl, and realizing i was just as horrible as all the others I judged. I can be on here and wonder, why? WHY o Lord do I not have a woman yet? Well number
1, a relationship for me would become even more of an Idol.
I would list more but that is it. We can put christianeze on our desires to try and show others that our idolatry is biblical, but it's not fooling God.

I am less and less by His grace this way. but I posted this to see if a particular person here would listen

I believe in the old saying ' If you can't love yourself you sure want be able to love someone else'. God is love.

If you look at 2 timothy chapter 3, it gives a list of spiritual decline The list starts with LOVERS of self,

Everyone already loves themselves, even depressed people do. In the context of the passage, self love is part of our natural man. We don't have to put anything into it, we already have it. That old addage, is unbiblical

If we would love others, tragically as much as we love ourselves

I confess I'm a lover of self. The verse deny yourselves everyday always stings. Seems like impossible, well it is for us. I will also say this, actually being in a relationship can shatter that idol for you, not early on, but a marriage that is ordained of God will teach you to love uncondionally because they won't meet all your conditions. A person can seem great and wonderful and all that jazz but if you wake up beside them for 20 years it rubs the shine off the vase and you have to deal with all their faults which you have to overcome to love them.

2 Timothy 3 also states, 'without love, without self-control '. I believe there is a fine line between self-esteem and ego. Too much sef-esteem can inflate the ego. It's a bit like loving yourself or being in love with yourself. I find telling myself I'm nothing without God keeps my feet on the ground.

I would point to Romans 12:3 3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.

No esteem, I don't think too highly, I don't think too lowly, I have a right estimate through Christ of who I am in Him
