How would you encourage a person to talk less if they talk too much?

You might like this person but they never stop talking and they write way too much too.

I think you should read the thread about Manipulation and Persuasion/Convincing

I would start by saying, "Sharp, hush. No, seriously, hush."

Beyond that, trying to get someone who talks too much to NOT talk to much is like trying to hold back the tide with your hands...or like trying to get me to say something without sarcasm. It's just not gonna happen.

Perhaps these might help.

Is it possible for you to have found something that would shut someone up faster than singing that awful song and holding up flash cards of Chuck Norris pictures? I don't think so. That would put the end to ANY conversation.

It is possible

right so when someone just keeps talking about themself, how would they go about changing their mind and talking about other things. i've confronted this person about their introspection and now i know if they are talking about anything but themselves its only to appease me.

whats wrong with people, seriously. i think ill send this one away.

Actually there is something you can do, but since we are all christians we'd have to be married to the person first before we could do this thing which would stop their yapping.

If it's a family relationship, you just gotta endure it. :p

If it's a friendship, find a new friend. You're obviously not compatible as friends.

When a talk to girls or guys who go on and on about things it really makes me irritated. I hate hearing someone talk for long periods of time all the time. It is like someone whose talking to a wall.
I like even exchange and people to give input when I talk. Not for me to give a lecture
Be BLUNT!!!!
Proverbs 27:5
Better is open rebuke than hidden love.

If i was doing something annoying and my close friends didn't correct me i wouldn't consider them friends. Why would they let me continue in doing such a thing? Correct me so I know what im doing wrong so I can do right. Don't let me go on and have people think awkward of me.
If this person takes it offensively then there immature. If they take it and try to do better then there worth it.
