I I just now found this posting. To answer your curiousity, I wouldn't mind marrying a woman who's in her 30's and has children from a previous marriage. The only problem i've come across is she usually says that i'm a nice guy, but not her type. I try to show respect for the ladies. You know; considerate of her feelings and basically treating her like a lady
I know what you mean. Everyone loves the nice guy, they just don't want to settle for him. He's too boring, too predictable and too reliable. Woman these days want excitement and the nice guy doesn't provide that. To bad really because by the time most woman are tired of excitement, all the nice guys are gone by women who already decided they've had enough excitement and all thats left are the real losers who don't care about anyone but themselves.

That's my observation anyway.

As for that whole bit overweight and kids issue. I'm concerned I wouldn't be able to cope. Here is this woman who has years of experience with her kids, knows every little quirk and facial expression. They have a life together, and then there is me. I'm nearly 30, have no kids of my own and its been years since I've had a reason to really think of anyone but myself. Just the difference in thought process is an enormous obstacle that both of us will likely not be able to climb over. Her because she'll eventually get tired of putting up with failure on my part and me because of the terror of failing both her and the kids.

Maybe this whole thing is just my selfish attitiude showing, and if so I apologize for that. As I said its been years since I've been with anyone. I'm kind of set in my mindset. Maybe one day that will change.

this may sound wierd....but that would be music to my ears! what an adventure! I have always wanted exactly that...in a beautiful remote somewhere...with time, and great amounts of love...sounds perfect. There is very little room for the shallow in situations like that! and probably less distractions....I crave the quite beautiful places, that reqiure sacrifice, and character....and reward with adventure, and a slower pace

and the boy i was marrying might have to know a few things about outdoor survival...maybe take a gun too. I think the desire for that kind of life started the first time i saw The swiss family Robinsons..lol...It would be awsome how much trust would be required...with your mate and with God!!

Honestly that could never be me. My personality is too wild to just be tied down so drastically by that kind of life and I would probably go insane. I know my destiny that God has for me and I believe we are to be excited about where we're going.
Haha, I would not be the least bit surprised if you were the exact person God picked for this type of service. After all, Moses wasn't big on public speaking but that didn't concern God one bit. In our weakness His strength is magnified.

2cor 12:9 And He said to me, " My grace is sufficent for you, for My strength is made perfect in your weakness."

I heard a sermon that actually said God doesn't pick a mate for you that will be your perfect match but one that will be strong in the areas where you need them to be but weak in areas that most disturb you. In that He breeding righteousness in you. That you may be perfect like your father. That in this you love someone who doesn't meet your conditions. I'll let that marinate for the ladies a minute.

Now, in defense of actual christian ladies to the guys out there. I know the type of women you are speaking of, and to speak plainly, they are worldly. As a christian, consider it a blessing from God that they don't take in pursuit of you. Any christian should first be drawn to a possible mate by God being manifest in their lives.

God Bless

I do agree, but to a limit, has anyone ever had or tried the "I'm attracted to God in you" pick up line?

In the end...yes...but I'd probably spend a lot of time in prayer, asking God, why?

The only part that would make me sad is that I would never have children of my own =( I would be very upset. But I would marry this guy, anyway, if that's what God wanted.

I would be excited! but i feel im called to full time ministry so I keep in mind that i may have a life like that so I wouldnt run. Not saying that i think it would be a piece of cake, cause it would def have its trying times. But with God and a loving husband by my side i could make it thro it all.

Straight-up, you seem to be emphasising a lack of material wealth. I have had material wealth, and I promise you it is meaningless (except for how much you can give away). Our life here is very short, and all that matters is your relationship with our Lord and spreading the gospel message, loving your neighbour and what you can with what God has given you for a short time to help other people.
I bet if most of you died today one of your regrets would have been not giving more away to bless other people while you had the chance.

I totally agree

How would you respond to this hypothetical situation?

Let's say that one day you praying that God would introduce you to that special someone who are to spend the rest of your life with. Then God plainly answered you in an audible voice saying
"Within the next few weeks you will meet this man. He is somewhat average looking but has a heart of gold. He is destined to be an assistant pastor of a very small church in a very small remote town. He will receive a very meager salary and you will learn to have to learn to lean on me for all of your finances. while you may never see a new house or a new car or a big ministry in your lifetime, you will see my very own hand move before your very eyes."

"You will never have a career or or some sort of ministry where you will receive recognition however I have chosen you for a special task. You will never have children of your own but I have ordained you to be the mother of many. You will face your share of hardships however I will meet your every need and in turn you will raise up young men and women who operate in my authority and my power."

My question is, despite the many hardships, the meager living and the lack of any recognition what so
ever, would you still marry this guy giving the promise that God was going to for and through in many powerful ways?
Dearest one, your question is quite challenging, for we know the promises of the Lord, that we are to leave in abundance. But He also promises that if we are faithful in simple things, He will bestow us greater works to achieve, hence knowing our hearts.
Moreover, this will bring us to think if we have been that blinded by the world way of showing off, and forgotten the real joy of seeing someone saved, or someone else being comforted by our presence.
we ought to think about the peace and joy we have to when we rely on the Lord and go according to His wishes...
Cheers...
