I rarely go in there anymore. It's so divisive and discouraging. There is a you edify thread I like to post to though as a point of encouragement to others who may wander in there unaware. :) It's tough to keep that thread alive in there because it doesn't seem like many people are interested in UPLIFTING their sibs in Christ.

Then again, I was just thinking....if those of us who feel this way stay out, aren't we just turning it over to bad influences? Maybe I need an attitude adjustment in this regard... Maybe we should try to be more of a positive influence rather than being influenced by the negativity. What say you?

I feel the same way. I peek my head in there once in awhile but don't get involved with the discussions because I know there is always a counter-argument for anything I say no matter how obviously true I think it is, and I learned long ago that discussions like that only get me frustrated and even perturbed to the point where I would spend all day dwelling on it. The only thing I learned is that there is never any winner (and often many who feel like they are losing) in these types of discussions.

Oh, yeah? Well maybe there ISN'T a counter-argument for anything you say! Maybe what you say just is, and I should get over it, right? RIGHT?

And so, by wading into the midst of the bad influences, what do you think will happen? If you've got a whole bunch of people who are very into immediately attacking you for whatever you say, then they won't listen to reason. Mob mentality, you know? Each individual might be just fine on their own, but together, it's a mess.

If anyone has facts or scripture to prove anything I say is wrong, then by all means, please prove me wrong. I will be thankful for the enlightening. If on the other hand people want to argue without fact or scripture and are instead basing their argument on what they were brought up to believe or how strongly they FEEL about something, or what they read from an opinionated source then its really pointless for me to argue because they've already made up their minds and I just end up going in circles with them.

LORD HELP US!!!

anyways Julianna I just post scriptures and songs and try not to get entangled in the arguements. I skim what they are discussing but they just want to justify themselves because they have not learn that only GOD can justify you, not other believers, not your knowledge or anything YOU can do, because grace is freely given and has already been DONE FOR you by the cruxification and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord of Savior. LOL its like a wilderness in there so let us sing until the whole world hears, even if they read scriptures but how many truly SEE and how many truly HEAR God's words in their hearts???

when people get a chance I think everyone should go DO something FOR the name of God instead of just TALKING about the Bible people need to LIVE it.

I like the Testimony and prayer requests threads personally. :) Blessing to all who walk in the Will of our Heavenly Father. Peace of the Lord be with you.

...And another reason. a BIG reason I don't get involved in those discussions is because there was one time when I did and I saw a bunch of posts from someone I was actually fond of in here and this person's posts were very offensive to me because they trashed my church which I love dearly, and so I first tried to simply, nicely lay out some facts and scriptures about my church which explained the truth and my church's point of view, but that person kept on trashing so I told that person outright in a post that I lost all respect for them (although I doubt they even saw it). So I regret ever going in there.

But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless.

Yeah I agree "Actions speak louder than words". Some people have too much hot air for their own good.

i'm sorry but even the apostle Paul spoke words Satan placed in his heart and Jesus had to rebuke him. we should follow Jesus' teachings not the example of other sinners.

My boss (a former judge) says that if you explain something a couple of times (and I usually just post scripture in there rather than using my own words) and people are still arguing, they understand...they just don't like it...

It's really hard to tell from the Internet whether people are actually living it or not though, since we only get to see their words here...

hahahaha!!!

I guess that's what it comes down to, huh? God has called us to LOVE, not to prove ourselves right or demand our way.

1still_waters led a very loving Bible study last night from I John on this very topic. I wish there was some way to broadcast that on loud speakers in the forum of which we speak...

I don't get angry when I go in there. It just makes me very heavy-hearted and ....sad....

I left out details like the fact that after I explained the FACTS to this person about my church, they literally started 8 or 10 more threads attacking my church saying that we are worshippers of the sun god and idolaters, etc.. I even complained to a moderator about this but the moderator said I'd have to explain in explicit detail why each post was offensive and then all the moderators have to discuss it and decide whether it warrants any type of action. I had better things to do with my time.

Note, I did not say that I hate this person, nor did I say that this person is evil. All I said was that I lost respect for them. There's a difference between hating someone and simply realizing that they are insensitive and abusive in their writing and unwilling to look at the facts presented to them.
