I'm just wondering what is the success rate of relationships that started out as "Love at first Sight"? Do any of you have personal experiences you can share about your success after falling in love at first sight?

Yep. I had a moment of love at first site. I made a good friend out of the deal. I'm not what he's looking for so we'd never succeed as a couple, but we're great friends now. :)

I think its more falling in lust at first sight, your attracted by the outside, it quickly becomes apparant if inner beauty doest match the outside but thats my experience and may not be others

I think that is a good and valid observation. Because at first sight you don't know whats inside, or if compatible with yourself.

Yes, I fell in love the first time I saw her staring at me from the pages of Consumer Reports magazine. We met a few weeks later and it was like a match made in heaven. We are still going strong 7 years and 150,000 miles later! :D Of course, there have been some bumps in the road for us but overall its just been one smooth ride.

That's what I was going to say...Either that or just say "infatuation" at first site.

It's not even possible to love someone based on looks...unless someone is using a VERY different defintion of love. Love is a choice. I choose to love or not love a person. I do understand that feelings go along with certain kinds of love though. I'm not denying that. I just don't think that love, in and of itself, is a feeling. It's more of a choice and an action.
How much I like someone's looks is just simply physical attraction.
I have noticed though that if someone has a great personality they somehow seem to look better to me, and the opposite of that is true as well.

Oh get off your horses people!

When you can see from across the universe that her faith is your faith, in actions and the very way that you know it. Its irresistible, its involuntary, its love. Its not lust, it is instantly realizing that we could spend the rest of our lives together.

Now it only really happens when two people are in their element, like surfers at a competition or missionaries in the field. Its rare its real and its possible.

I wouldn't really call it love at first sight, but I can usually tell from a first conversation with someone whether it will go anywhere or not. If I can see the spark in their eyes when they talk about the things they love with passion, hear laughter just about to escape from their throats at any given minute, hear the tenderness in their voice when they talk about the things of God, see in their face that when I'm talking to them about something they are really listening and not pondering the next clever thing to say to impress...and no matter where we are it's like no one else is around.

What about love BEFORE first sight? I love everyone, but I can't live with everyone.

I think you are right. It does happen. You lock eyes with someone and it's just there. This person may no even be your "type" for what ever reason your spirits are linked.

Okay so lets get real.

There really is no such thing as love at first sight. There is no such thing as the stars aligning and the clouds parting and your souls interlocking and you just knoooow your for each other upon a first look at this other person.

Thats such garbage, and some of these answers..... okay mainly liamson's, kinda made me throw up in my mouth.

What happens is you see each other, and your instantly attracted to each other. Thats as far as it goes. You have no way of knowing what this person believes, who he or she is, what his or her soul is like, and i dont care what any of you say, there is no way to know any of that with just a first look. You have no special powers of being able to ''looook deeeepy into someones soul'' Im rolling my eyes as im typing this its so ridiculous.

The reality is you have no clue who it is your really looking at when you see someone for the first time. Appearances can be very deceiving. First conversations can be very deceiving.

Love is not a look, it's not a stellar trip through the universe with someone elses soul. Love is not instant. It's not a feeling. It's not a sappy song you hear on the radio of butterflies and rainbows.

Love is something you develop over time, from really knowing someone. Love is realizing your partner is so far from perfect its disturbing, but staying with them anyway. Love is an action. Love is a decision you have to make every single day.

I've experienced it once, especially when we look each other in the eyes..
