Default You. What Makes You You ?

Let's do a little personality extrapolation, as I will calle it.

Here are some questions, basically it's just your c.c. bio, on steroids

But no real personal questions cuz, well, they are too real.

Church: Do you like your church? What's good about it? What's not so good? Do you help?

Activity: What kinds of things do you do for fun, besides c.c.?

Attitude: How do you approach things in life? Got a motto?

Best quality: What sets you apart from all the other God-made yahoos in the world?

Faith: Why do you believe (denomination) the way you believe?

Statement of Self - You act (mannerisms) the way you do because... (God made me this way don't count)?

Well, since you asked...

Church: I love my church! It's the best. At other churches I have been to, they believe that people go to church to 1. hear the Word and 2. worship God. Fellowship comes as an afterthought. But you can hear awesome podcasts and great worship music from your computer (not to mention that singing songs is PRAISING God, which is only PART of what worship is). The reason we have church is to have fellowship with other believers. And the fellowship at my church is AWESOME. The message and worship are both fantastic as well, but as my pastor said "people come to church because of the message and the worship, but they stay because they make friends".

Yes, I do help. I serve as a musician in the worship band and I'm in charge of planning events.

Activity: I love to hang out with friends. I enjoy playing board games, playing music, watching movies, fencing, traveling, and exploring new places.

Attitude: Honestly...I assume other people are irrational, unorganized, and lack common sense. On the other hand, if I ask someone something directly, I assume they are being truthful about it. Relationships are the most important thing to me; I would die for my friends. I would rather be poor and loved than be rich and feared. I believe that not only does money NOT buy happiness, too much of it leads to unhappiness.

Best quality: I'm not your average cookie-cutter Christian. I like to explore different possibilities, try new things, and do everything to its fullest potential. You won't get bored being around me if you like adventure.

Faith: I'm an Evangelical, which just means that I get 100% of my doctrine from the words of the Bible. I believe that since the Bible is God-inspired, it is flawless and the only thing we can trust with certainty to have absolute truth.

Statement of self- I didn't grow up a Christian at all- in fact, my whole life I was told that being a Christian is the worst thing you can possibly do. So I pretty much lived opposite of God. So when I came to Christ in 2004, I had a very different view of things. I wasn't sheltered to any extent, and I came in with battle scars. I live in conformity to Christ, but I'm not your typical home-grown church boy. I'm also the youngest child, and I hear the youngest are usually pretty goofy.

Default Re: You. What Makes You You ?

Church: Do you like your church? What's good about it? What's not so good? Do you help? I don't go to church. They make me feel uneasy, and spiritually claustrophobic.

Activity: What kinds of things do you do for fun, besides c.c.? I like to draw, create art, read non-fiction books, go for walks, take pictures, spend time by myself, play, watch movies, have long convos with my BF, etc.

Attitude: How do you approach things in life? Got a motto? Carefully. Look before you leap. Take things slow. Trust nobody to accept true beauty until they prove they can. Observe, don't do. Contemplate. "Why mess up in front of everyone, when you can analyze it to death from afar and live it through daydreams, while avoiding shame?" (I am not proud of my mottos or takes on life, and I do not recommend anyone use me as a role-model, lol.)

Best quality: What sets you apart from all the other God-made yahoos in the world? I dunno? I am me. I am quirky. And I don't fear being weird. There aren't any other me's out there, so I guess that makes me special.

Faith: Why do you believe (denomination) the way you believe? This question stumps me, lol. I don't know, I just do.

Statement of Self - You act (mannerisms) the way you do because... (God made me this way don't count)? I am probably one of the most childishly indecisive people I know of. So I can't cover what I'm like here. I don't even entirely know my "true self". All I can say is, people who know me usually can't make sense of me. I have many different sides that you wouldn't think come from the same person.

I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was a kid, so naturally I'm an odd ball, and emotionally younger than most people my own age.
When people meet me, I appear cold and aloof, but it's only because I'm shy, and a bit socially awkward. At heart I am a kind person, I value honesty, and I like to treat others the way I like to be treated. ...so I give them space.
I am a loving and loyal friend, to the select few I am close with. I was home-schooled, and raised with a free-thinking take on life. My parents are both Christian, so I was raised with the bible stories, and learned about God and how to be a good person from an early age. =)

Default Re: You. What Makes You You ?

Church:I like my church and the people there. However, it is too large. If I were to die today only the special ed program would miss me.

Activity: I read a steady diet of philosophy, sci-fi, history, and classical lit. Do a lot of school work. I'm Vice President of the SGA at my school which calls for a host of fun activities. I have a couple personal projects. Movies and video games are fun when I want to get my hipster on. I spend gratuitous amounts of time with my family because they are the best.

So yeah, my habits are largely work and then sedentary activities. It is my propensity to work and forget meals that makes me thin (too thin). Don't judge.

The occasional adventure is always fun.

Attitude: I try to approach everything with a sense of balance, understanding that there is a time and place for everything.

Best quality: Growing up my mother always said he wired me differently.

Faith: I consider myself an independent calvinist right now. I'll probably choose a denomination after leaving school.

Statement of Self : Not so sure what this means. It all really depends on who I'm talking with if you are talking mannerisms. I think aloud, and talk with my hands when I'm with people that I consider intelligent enough to grasp the subject matter I'm talking about (sounds completely arrogant, but true). Since that factor is often an unknown, I tend to be rather reserved and pensive.

Default Re: You. What Makes You You ?

1. I love my church. I came from a very small church (began with about 25 people), moved to a mega church (about 2500 at the time), and now I've settled in a nice mid sized church (about 400-500). My church is very family oriented. We are also ministry oriented. We go on about 20 different missioons each year. I am very involved in my church. My main ministry is worship. When I first moved here I was the interim worship leader for the youth group for about 6 months. I also served as a youth leader. I've served in the Children's ministry as a teacher and baby sitter for midweek services. Then there are one time or sporatic events.
2. I don't have much time for fun. Honestly, I have a very busy life so my fun things mostly involve doing worship or other musical ventures with the team. I'm a bit of a homebody. I like to play keys, sing, and write music. I record a little, and I also love spending time with my nieces and nephews, and any other children. Oh and I love having friends over or hanging out with them, though those encounters usually end up being musical also.
3. Hmmm... a motto. I've had a few in my life. I used to always say "God is good, and I'll survive." though I realized while true it's a bit dreary. One of my life verses is "My grace is sufficient for you. For my strength is made perfect in your weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9. I also love Phillipians 1:6b "he who began a good work in me will be faithful to carry it on to completion until the day of Christ." and Psalm 29:10 "The Lord sits enthroned over the flood. He is enthroned as king forever."
4. What sets me apart? That's a tough one. Well, I'd like to say we're all created uniquely and that, therefore, makes me set apart; but I'm guessing that's not what you want. Well, I like to go to sleep early and wake up early. I normally start falling asleep around 8:30. If i weren't a teacher, I'd be a mid-wife. I've done so much research about pregnancy and childbirth that I could probably deliver a baby right now. In fact, though I've never had children (my two are in heaven), my pregnant friend ask me for child rearing, pregnancy, and delivery advice and information. Children are my world. I joke every time I got to Mexico that I may not come back because they may jail me for smuggling little Mexican babies across the border. I also am very well verse in birth defects and other developmental issues. I love working with these types of people. I am also about as loyal as they come. I stand by my friends and family. I will always be there if they need me.
5. I believe what I believe because I have seen God prove it to me over and over. I have seen Him in my life and the lives of those around me. While I am not a bible scholar, I am able to discern what is scriptural and what is not even when it's a person in authority telling me. I have many wise people in my life that I talk to and pray with on a regular basis and they show me who God is.
6. I grew up in an abusive family. Both of my parents were abusive, though my father was the worst of the two. I grew up believing that my identity was a seductress because this was the identity instilled in me by him. I grew up also taking full responsibility for every abuse because of how my mother treated me. In all, I grew up believing that this was all normal behavior and treatment.
I met the Lord at 13 as I stood at my kitchen counter with a steak knife carving into my hand. He spoke to me there and I finally knew He was real despite having been raised in a church. While I live with my mom, I separated myself from my family and began pursuing God all alone. 14 years later I'm going strong. And through the years God has continued to reveal himself to me and show me what true reality is.
So to answer the question, I act the way I do because I grew up knowing all too well what it meant to be unloved and deceived. I grew up knowing abandoment and rejection and perversion (sexual and otherwise). So I am loyal, affectionate, and I love people. I love helping and talking to people. I love kids because through them I can see what it really should have been like. They show me how precious I really was when I was being treated like a rag doll.

Okeee, guess I oversighted my thread a bit and hope you all having fine Day Of Rest.

Church - I do. A lot going on all the time, church , imho, is the BEST place we can be when we are needing God. You will find Him there. At times of greatest struggle in my life, including recommitting my life to Christ in 1997, NO finer place to be. My church is big, 2000+ per service, 3 services per Sunday, plus wed. church. and singles night churches and other activities like big lavish Christmas cantata play yearly, which I have helped in, and, Easter play , I have helped in it. Sometimes what is not good is , well, no, I guess , more I think about it, nothing is bad. I've helped with teen ministries too.

Activities? See mom and sister nephew, nieces, bro in law who all live in ocean shores and dad here and I see a best friend of 37 years knowing I see fairly regularly, along with his wife and two bits, 11 and 13. I watch my sports teams too and blog (witness) about game, bringing up God as He leads. I do some bible reading; I read to glean things both for myself and others.

Attitude - I approach everything with God in mind. I like to mindset myself like David and I do write a lot of songs and poems for fun as well as having sung a few (a capello) songs to crowds in speeches. My motto? Simple. The Lord leads and I will do my best to go follow.

Best quality: yahoo? i'm not a yahoo! Who said that??? . God has not given me a Spirit of fear to speak my mind about Him to anyone anywhere I go.

Faith: AOG. I love to raise my hands and sing praise through worship songs, modern and oldstyle, to my Jesus, my Saviour, my tower of refuge and strength.

Statement of Self : hmmmm, I am really carefree most everywhere I go and that is Jesus in me. On non-spiritual level, mom , dad always worked hard, taught me the imporyance of God, and, consistente with their ways.

Default Re: You. What Makes You You ?

Church: I love my church!! Everyone there is so supportive and loved on me when I first came to Jesus. They made sure I felt welcomed and answered any questions I might have. There's nothing that I don't like about it. My only slight problem is how big it is. That's a blessing and a curse, at the same time. It's great because you have a chance to know so many amazing people, but it's tough because you have to schedule time with A LOT of people. I love them all though. Yes, I do help. I'm a worship leader for the kid's ministry.

Activity: I write music and poetry. I hang out with my friends . . A LOT. I'm 17 -- it's what we do. Lol. I'm online way too much. I love to read, because I'm a huge nerd like that. I love to shop. It's therapeutic for me. Oh, and of course, I love to spend time learning more about the Lord. That sounds cliche, huh?

Attitude: Unfortunately, my attitude towards life is pretty pessimistic. It's getting better though. I'm trying to get to the point where I can look at the hardships and say "God is putting these here for a reason. What can I learn from this that will help me grow?"

Best quality: I know there are a lot of other people like this, but I've been through a lot. Before I was a Christian, it was even worse. As much as I hate the stuff I've gone through and the people that did those things to me, I try to use it as a good thing. It's helped me connect with more people, since I can relate to what they're going through. I've also been able to use my testimony and the experiences that I continue to have to introduce God's grace to others, which is amazing.

Faith: I don't really have a certain denomination. My church is non-denominational, and I've never really tried anything but that. I like the idea of not having a label attached to me. It's all about growing in my walk with God. Oh, but that wasn't meant as a dig on any denominations!! If I had to choose one, I would probably lean towards Baptist.

Statement of Self: I don't really know how else to act. The things I've gone through in my life have made me the person I am right now. For example, I put up walls because I've been hurt so many times. I'm always there for others because it took 15 years before I ever found someone who was truly there for me. Just little things like that. My past has shaped my present. My present is shaping my future.

Yes i like my church. Theres a group of women there that i really love. For the most part everyone is real. Yes i help out.

I like to run, watch sci fi movies, eat, read, hang out with my friends.

Umm i dont have a motto, but my dad when i was growing up he didnt like for me or my sister crying over things, so he'd say suck it up buttercup. So i guess thats how i approach things in life. If something is overwhelming or upsetting or frustrating. I suck it up and keep moving.

Theres nothing that sets me apart really, However i think God made me more stubborn than most, or at least thats what my mom says

I believe what i believe because God made himself real to me, that may not make much sense

I act the way i act because, this is who i is

For GreenNnice

Here are some questions, basically it's just your c.c. bio, on steroids

But no real personal questions cuz, well, they are too real.

Church: Do you like your church? Yes. What's good about it? That it's God filled. One of the things I look for in a church is if the pastor actually teaches from the Bible, or only reads from it and talks about something that has nothing to do with God. What's not so good? Um, I can't think of anything right now. Do you help? Yes, I try to anyway.

Activity: What kinds of things do you do for fun, besides c.c.? What, torturing people on C.C. is not good enough. Ok, music, photography, making jewelry, crochet, etc....

Attitude: How do you approach things in life? Depends on my mood. I try to approach with a positive attitude, but if I'm mad, or sick, well not so much. Got a motto? Nope

Best quality: What sets you apart from all the other God-made yahoos in the world? I have to think about this one.

Faith: Why do you believe (denomination) the way you believe? I attend the denominational church I go to, simply because that is where God has put me. Otherwise, I really don't care if someone goes to a denomination or not. A church can claim to believe one thing, but in reality show the opposite.

Statement of Self - You act (mannerisms) the way you do because... (God made me this way don't count)?
I act the way I do, partly, because it's the way I was raised, and partly, well, I prefer too.

Do you like your church? Yes
What's good about it? They love God.
What's not so good? There is little personal interaction, I've made no friends lately.
Do you help? Sometimes for events.
What kinds of things do you do for fun, besides c.c.? Play computer games.
How do you approach things in life? I avoid doing stuff until the last minute.
Got a motto? No.
What sets you apart from all the other God-made yahoos in the world? I'm generally shorter and fatter.
Why do you believe (Foursquare) the way you believe? We believe that Jesus is the savior, bringer of the Holy Spirit, healer, and soon coming king.
You act (lazy) the way you do because... (of divorce, abandonment, abuse, and discrimination)?
