I can't stand pushiness. I'm not a diva, but I feel that my trust has to be earned. Being told "text me" by a guy would make me raise an eyebrow and go 'really'. Don't expect me to do the pursuing; I won't.

I would actually find it rather sweet if a guy said something like "I see something special in you, and I'd like to get to know you better. May I text you sometime, or would that be creepy?" Extra points if you can say it with an easygoing confidence and a nice smile, combined with just a hint of fear. I always look for the hint of fear. It proves you're not an over-confident jerk

P.S. Don't try to manufacture the fear. If it's not already there, then you probably shouldn't be asking her out in the first place

Precisely why I didn't just "tell" her. I told her gently.... there's a difference. It's a very fine line and sadly, it's very easy to cross.

As for checking with the Boss, after praying boldly and confidently, sometimes no answer is an answer in and of itself- and it doesn't always mean 'no'.

Just to keep things straight.....

I never suggested that he say, "here's my number, text me."

What I suggested was, "Here's my number. I'm hardly on facebook... so text me instead."

There's a difference.

Ummmmm, I wasn't pickin' on ya, just so you know. And, I agree, "no" is definitely an answer, and sometimes it just means "not right now".
