Some questions to ponder this holiday season?
Is their ever a time in your life to be 'All About Me.' : YES What Are You Selfish With Doing? : MANY How Do You Think God View's Your Selfishness? NOT HAPPY Can You Get Away With Being Selfish And Still Be following God's Will In Your Life? YES OF COURSE. PHIL. 4:13 " I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME.. Maybe someone wants to mention some 'selfish' message in scripture? Philippians 2:3 ESV Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Can You Be Selfish At Christmas Time And Have It Affect People's Christian View Of You? IT DEPENDS UPON WHO I AM GIVING TO. AND PEOPLE ALWAYS HAVE THIS VIEW OF YOU WHICH IS SOMETIMES GOOD AND BAD BUT AS LONG AS YOU KNOW YOUR DOING THE RIGHT THING GOD WILL JUSTIFY YOU IN DUE TIME. ^__^ |

Good wisdom in your answers. Do nothing with rivalry or conceit but in humility count others more significant than you. Nice. ----+---- I think there are times we can be selfish in life, God will be happy, ultimately, if we follow His lead, and, what to friends, even family, might seem selfish , or disobedient, like Jesus when he was 12 year old boy learning from priests in temple and was not with his parents, may be EXACTLY what God knows we need to be doing . Their wonderment, bewilderment still is scripture that I get perplexed by reading. Joseph and Mary: ' where were you? We have been driving ourselves mad looking for you, Jeez.' And, Jesus says what I feel are some of the most profound words in scripture.... 'Didn't you know I would be in my Father's house?' Last edited by GreenNnice; December 21st, 2011 at 04:23 AM. |

It is okay for me to be selfish in my restoration and alone time with God. I can't serve Him with an empty spirit. If I try, it's just ME doing what I want and it doesn't produce the same kind of fruit. If it was okay for Jesus to withdraw for this purpose, I'm thinking it is okay for us too.

I remember a conversation I had with my mentor when I had recently become a Christian. He was telling me about giving, and how Jesus says if you give and then tell people about it, you're getting rewards on Earth, but if you give in secret, you're storing up rewards in heaven. So I thought about whether it was alright to give in secret with the motive of getting rewards in heaven. Sort of a selfish motive, but in this case, we decided it's okay because it's a motive from faith, and it contributes to the needs of others. |

It depends on the the situation but no mater what it is, wrong to be selfish. Giving is God's wish, when we give we recieve more from God even when some people get it unjustly there are people who realy need to recieve either gift, money or prayer which will change their live. Let not be selfish. Shallom

Is there ever a time in your life to be 'All About Me.' Yes, even in heaven you will only give an account of yourself.
What Are You Selfish With Doing? Time (e.g. I wouldn't want anyone to ask me to do sth now, when I'm responding to this thread) , Money, Words, I think everything or rather I can be... with almost anything; depends on the time, day, circumstance! How Do You Think God View's Your Selfishness? I think He's ok with some of it and also not OK with some of it. Can You Get Away With Being Selfish And Still Be following God's Will In Your Life? I think yes, but most of the time No. Maybe someone wants to mention some 'selfish' message in scripture? Phil 2:44 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. (RSV) Meaning that there are times when we should look at our own interests though not all of the time. Can You Be Selfish At Christmas Time And Have It Affect People's Christian View Of You? I wonder what you mean (not that I want you to elaborate) but being selfish happens in a point in time but is not necessarily subject to a specific time. Also, not to contradict the fact that we should be ourselves at least most of the time, don't worry so much about other "People's Christian View Of You". One great way to be a good Christian is to be yourself and as much as others(society) are our mirrors, God's word is also a mirror maybe even far better. Bottom line is that, we are all sinners. Definitely, this is one where if Jesus was to ask us He without it cast the first stone not a single person we would all go missing as those accusers of the adulterous woman, Jn 8:3. When it comes to sin, we must understand that sometimes if not all of the time we look at others to determine how sinful we see ourselves. For instance, you know of a thief and since you have never broken into someones home, or been locked up because of stealing then this sin may never bother you. However, leaving work earlier yet you arrive late for work is a form of theft, among many other "hidden"forms of theft. (Please don't go down the path of now finding out other 'hidden' forms of sin or analyzing/psychoanalyzing sin. It is like a really treacherous road that will do you no good.) The key is to always read the bible, pray and where we fall short we ask God to forgive and help us not giving up the fight ourselves i.e. we don't just sit back and say 'I'm waiting on God' at least not all of the time; since there are times for just sitting back and resting Psalm 37:7/Being Still "and knowing He is God." (Simple). |

Yeah I do. But I define selfish and selfless a little differently than most might.
I think too if a person has neurological differences (I don't like using the word "disorder"), they absolutely have to take care of those needs. The needs might be disguised as selfishness to a person watching who doesn't understand because they don't struggle with the same thing. But on the other hand that different person may be able to give something beautiful of themselves that the healthy person can't. So that can even things out in the end. =) |

Good question. I can see the argument for doing something because it is in your self interest to do so, but that doesn't always indicate a selfish motive. Often our motives are mixed in nature. Even if we are doing something for selfish reasons, we like to convince ourselves we are not.
In light of this, I truly do not know how to answer your question...this is rare for me...I'm going to lay down for awhile.
