I have some incredibly sensitive skin around my mouth, so a goatee at least (although it's technically a Van Dyke according to AAA's post) is usually required. I had the beard fully grown out and untrimmed for a few months for Godspell, but I'm normally very anal about trimming frequently to keep the beard/goatee manageable.

What type are we talking about here?
Whatever you do, no mutton chops.

Like Nod says, it depends on the man, as well as the type of beard style. Some men look awesome with beards, and some, well, they look like they need a trim.

Ok ladies, so what I have gotten from you so far is: beards look okay on most men, if not all men, when properly groomed.

Is that right? Feel free to point out any err lol

P.S. Your answers aren't going to influence me one way or another haha

Yes.

Although, I grew up with my dad having an awesome mountain man beard so I'm happy and fine with that too. :D

I think it can be very attractive, but ONLY if it is neatly trimmed. No 80s moustaches or lumberjack beards!!!! lol The lumberjack beards seem to be ok for very snowy areas of the south, like NC, but I'm not really into them. Maybe if you're going hunting.

Since we're on the facial hair topic....I can't help but think about the wily eyebrows, nose hairs gone awry...on and in...and the ear hair. There's just some plucking and trimming that needs to happen there. You'd think everyone would know that, but apparently not everyone does. It's like a woman who doesn't shave her underarms....we can SEE that! lol

I'll be sure to not let my eyebrows grow into unison, but they are going to remain 'wily' and bushy as long as I live lol

I agree with CCG, the scruffy look is good on some guys (ESPECIALLY MR DARK AND AWESOME WARREN CHRISTIE - see photo *melt*), but not others. Hair length and facial hair isn't a big deal for me as long as it's not overdone, it's clean and kept neatly trimmed.

And I totally agree with Kimber about the eyebrow thing and ear hair. Bushy eyebrows are fine, but when a few wild hairs start to make it look like you have a big fuzzy bug with antennae crawling across your forehead, it can be a little distracting. :D

Interesting thread to read through. My mom is almost entirely opposed to facial hair. My sister likes it. The girls I've dated never voiced a preference.

If I ever have a significant other, I'll just let her choose my facial hair style. Call me a cop out, but I really could care less and if something that simple could make the woman in my life happy, I'll gladly acquiesce.

I don't like facial hair. Especially on women.

I'd say why not just be yourself and do what you want? If you like a beard, grow it. Why base your decisions on how to live your life off of people you don't even know? Really its just chance anyways. If you shave your beard because that seems more popular, you could still meet someone who prefers facial hair. Besides, women are the ones that run around saying 'oh, looks don't matter, thats so shallow' so let them put their money where their mouth is and follow through with that statement.
I got a beastly beard. I live in the south and i have gotten more attention from ladies with the beard than before i had it.

Yup, it does me anyways which is why I keep it very trimmed.
