The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard (Matthew 20:1-16)
1 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. 2 He agreed to pay them a denarius[a] for the day and sent them into his vineyard. 3 “About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. 4 He told them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.’ 5 So they went. “He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing. 6 About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’ 7 “‘Because no one has hired us,’ they answered. “He said to them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard.’ 8 “When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.’ 9 “The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. 10 So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. 11 When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. 12 ‘These who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.’ 13 “But he answered one of them, ‘I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius? 14 Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you. 15 Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’ 16 “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”

Age: 14
What was going on: Still dealing with the death of my dad from a couple years earlier. Earlier in the year, pastor's son gave his testimony of how he was saved. He was about 19 or 20. It was then I realized I was nor saved. Age limit: no. The older you are the more likely you will not be saved, because the heart hardens, but God can save a 99 year old man like he can a 6 year old boy.

I honestly can't remember when I first accepted Jesus as my Saviour officially, I want to say it was as long as I can remember mom, dad took me to church, which would be since I was born. But never did they say anything commitally to me about what I should do. Baptism, accepting Jesus. Nope and Nope. , I wish they had, but , who knows, the Lord leads, and, I think, looking back I would have been even more confused had I accepted Jesus , or not, hmm, yeah, idk I just know at 10 vhs movie machine fans into our house and it was not a good thing as we pretty much began watching all kinds of movies, was fun but...chinked my relationship with God although at 14, walking away from a soccer game I do remember telling God I wouid ALWAYS serve Him in my life no matter what happened.
Well, 'what,' happened like parents divorce at 17 and their ugly 3 years before that not talking to each other much. And college and after college, all things that entrailed my life high school, middle school. But then at age 26 May 27th 1996 God got whole of me thru a play i was a demon in and that CHANGED me, rededicating my life to Him, must have wen to the altar at my church a half dozen times that would then lead up to my baptism in 2000. Pi guess that's a lot of stuff leading to my moment, but that's what it was, it is what it is . God has our stories all for a reason, too, don't ever forget, whatever your story for coming to Christ, however mundane you may think it be it is not On their deathbed, many I am sure have accepted Christ. Good questions and thread, rather, threads you've done of late , lizzietheone.

I was listening to a children's radio show called WeeKids on Saturday mornings with Mr. Nick the host when I stayed with my grandmother every other weekend. One Saturday, September 18, 1998 Mr. Nick was talking about salvation and telling the story of Christ's crucifixion and such. He then said any child (or adult) that wanted to pray with him was willing to do so to accept Christ. I accepted Him into my life on that day, and I rededicated my life on June 14, 2004.

I was 9. I don't feel like I really got serious about my faith until I was about 14 though.
No, I don't think there is an age limit. That scripture zero posted up there is excellent.

Truly accepted the Lord and began walking with him just before my 14th birthday.
I was in the midst of deep depression as God was just starting to lift me out of denial and show me who I was. Literally, standing at my kitchen counter, knife in hand, ready to end it all... Then face first on my living room floor hearing the voice of God for the very first time. No, there is no age limit. Statistically speaking though, before you graduate highschool is the best chance at someone making the choice. However, its about people making the choice rather than Giod being willing. God is not a statistician. |
I have to disagree with that last statement, Kat. I believe that the older people get, the more likely they are to convert because they find themselves staring eternity in the face. They say that Darwin himself converted on his death bed and while he was ill he requested the presence of a well-known preacher's wife who visited him regularly in the days before he died. Also, they say there is a mark in his bible next to a scripture which talks about forgiving one who sinned greatly against God, but no one can prove that Darwin himself made that mark.
___________ This is fascinating to me, zere, didn't know that about Darwin. I wonder if their is further documented evidence of Darwin accepting Christ, other than marks in his bible but, to me, he did convert, based on having a preacher's wife visit on his deathbed. Good stuff, thx, Sir Zere

I was 18 I had alway went to church and stayed away from sin. I had became comfortable and indifferent. Also, he had been dealing with me about the ministry. God said seek me while I may still be found. (pharphased). God is long suffering but after a while, he will withdraw his spirit and deal with us anymore. He will call and convect us but if we chose not to give our lives over to Him, He will stop dealing with us and drawing us to Him. Now, how many times will He call us, more than we deserve. I have spoken with a man that said that he avoided Gods call of salvation. He woke up one day and couldn't feel God anymore. God had given him his last chance the day before.

Interesting stuff, imaCOG I don't know that God ever gives us a 'last chance', as you put it, to accept Him as our Saviour. but , this is heady stuff, and not really thought enough about it to understand that fully . I only think , myself speaking, that God ONLY quits on people , giving them one last chance when.... and, Toto sings it best but listen closely now, for this is God speaking: As soon as forever is through, I'll be over (trying to save) you . God bless you, imaCOG, for your words that act stirring to me.
