A light went on in my brain this morning as I remembered reading about Gideon's army and how God told Gideon to send those home who lapped up the water face down, but to keep those who knelt and lifted their cupped hands to their mouths to drink. If we are going to be of service to God, we need to keep our heads up and be paying attention, don't we?

I had often wondered why God had given me a mother's heart, but only one child. As I looked around this morning at all of the kids who wanted to hug on me before service started, I began to understand. A lot of them may not receive that sort of love and affection at home. When God gives us something He expects us to use it. We need to keep our heads up for opportunities to do so.

I wanted to share this here with other single ladies who have a heart for children, maybe even some guys too. :) There are a lot of kids out there who could use godly mentors and a hug or two. :)

Amen Jullianna. I was one of those kids. Although both of my parents are godly people, they both were lacking as parents. I had several men from church who took me under their wing at different times and to this day I thank God for the influence they had all those years ago.

Wonderful reminder Jullianna! Thanks for sharing :) I often get caught up in thinking that if the Lord wants to use me, He will show me how, perhaps I should be more aware and looking/praying for those opportunities as well. It is important to be paying attention.

Amen Julianna. The church can never have too many spiritual mothers and fathers who are willing to love and support our young people unconditionally. Far too often the church tries to mold it's children into their own image, which only serves to push them away over time, especially as they enter their teen years. If we truly love them just as God loves them, our role is to teach them how to stay on the path while running after God just as hard and as fast as they can. If they pass us by in the process then praise God! What good father or mother doesn't want better for their children than they had?

Keep loving on them Julianna. The church could use a lot more people like you.
