Hey Everyone,

I'm not sure how this thread will work or if someone's already tried this kind of idea--maybe it will fizzle out right away, but why don't we give it a shot and see what happens?

I see a lot of threads concerning how to ask someone out... so, what kind of response would you give if you were asked out by someone you were at least semi-interested in?

Let's say I'm talking to you and you're a guy I'm interested in (or girls, you can pretend it's a guy talking to you) and we seem to be having a great conversation...

And I say, "Hey, would you be interested in going to the theater to watch 'Transforming Terminator Cyborgs Who Blow Up Everything' this Saturday?" (Girls, you can pretend the guy is asking you to some kind of romantic comedy, such as 'Ghosts of Relationships Past Propose to The Most Unlikely Guy But Wind Up Together'.) (Here's a good example of a possible answer--if you don't want to see that particular movie or don't want to see a movie at all, how would you go about suggesting another movie or activity?

Oh, and this IS JUST PRACTICE (right???) so if your answer is one of rejection or negativity instead, I won't take it personally. :)

Ready, set, go!

(Accept, or re-direct, or decline) that date!

Ok, sorry everyone... I always try to formulate how these threads are going to go before I post them and I'm bound to have a few flops.

Here's a bit of what I'm thinking of... and as with most of my threads, it can be serious or silly--go with whatever your mood is.

Most of us seem to be sitting here thinking about WHAT IF we found a person we were really attracted to... WHAT IF we decided to approach that person... WHAT IF we decided to go for it and strike up a conversation and ask him or her out... how would WE do it...

What I'm basically asking is, WHAT IF that person noticed you first and decided to ask YOU out? (In other words, what if it were turned around. (You'll probably notice a trend with my threads--I tend to take ideas that are already out there and put a reverse spin on them.)

I don't know if this will help out or not, but I'm glad you said something, Sam... I just thought I'd try, so if it doesn't go anywhere, that's ok.


Hmm... maybe it could go something like this... tell us about how it would go, or how you would like for it to go if someone asked you out. For instance... first of all, I have to picture actually finding something I'm interested in, but that's beside the point... anyway.

Let's just say someone asked you out to a movie... but you had no interest in the movie he or she suggested... what would you do? OR what would you do if they had food stuck in their teeth while they asked you? Or what would you do if you knew that person had no car and basicall you would have to be the transportation? Or what if you were totally excited that this person was asking you out... how do you think you'd react? Would you stammer? Ask them to give you a day to think about it, etc?

Sorry... as I said this is just an experiment... I'm basically saying, a lot of us are sitting around wishing someone would ask us out... so, what would we do if they actually did?

Thanks for explaining thats much better!!! Okay so if someone asked me out to a movie and i totally wasnt intrested.. i would try and be as polite as possible .. so it would go something like this

person- hey, so do you think maybe one night we could go to a movie or get some coffee
Me- Im sorry, its against my religion also i would never wanna be seen in public with you.......... but thanks anyways :)

(But wait Sam, what if I converted to your religion and promised to wear a bag--an opaque one at that--over my head??)

hey thats all i can do.. just be as polite as possible! I think the lord has really gifted me with the gift of politeness!!!

honestly...probably say no...unless i knew them....but a stranger asking me out...is weird for me...lol....unless they thought they were attractive...and then i might...just to chase some tail

I think that is where you are completely and totally wrong...I think most women would rather a man lie to them than tell the truth...like the times when you FORCE him to go shopping with you. And he is falling asleep in the corner and when you ask him if he is bored and he says no...you say...ok and believe him...even when all vital signs point to the fact he is so bored he can hardly stand it...lol
