I have been so incredibly stressed for the past couple of weeks and it doesn't look like it will get better anytime soon. I haven't been sleeping much either to be honest. Being able to escape to CC for a couple of brain breaks during the day is very helpful. :) I'm prayerfully trusting the Lord with it all. Some answers have come, but there's still a way to go..

When I need to detox, I like to listen to praise music, play piano, dance, work with photos, run... I'm thinking a short road trip might be in order too. :)

What do you all like to do when you are stressed to the max?

I never have a moment to myself, and that alone is my stressor. as i'm writing I have one child on my right arm and another on my left leg  The other is roaming around me aimlessly............My husband is beating the life out of his drums, and my son wants me to make him a post workout sandwich. I wish I could just get away. I gotta log off.

I try to "cast my cares on Him", no matter what they are. And, "through prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, make my requests known to God."

And that other verse, "He keeps in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Him"... when I actually manage to do that, I really do feel an awesome peace.

I've had to get rid of a few things in my life lately that I noticed were grabbing my attention before God was getting it. I would run to them, before I ran to Him. So, out they went. :D

And no, I'm not suggesting that Jullianna or anyone else here is putting anything else first. But I was!

I take an hour and read, call a close friend, play a videogame, watch movie, work on my novel or just sit and daydream.

During the off season (winter) I'll tend to either read, play my guitar, or just do things around the house to get my mind of whatever it is that's got me wound up. However, my favorite decompression activities take me outdoors into God's country. I find nothing more relaxing than driving up into the mountains, heading down some back country road and finding a cliff or other location where I can sit back and enjoy the view of God's artwork. If I don't have the time to head that far, a walk in the local park is next best, of course that park is predominantly wild land untouched by man. In my opinion the sound of the wind in the trees or a babbling brook coupled with the smell of the pines is the most relaxing thing in the world.

Here's my list of things I do to detox/de-stress, in order of preference. A combination of them works best. ;)

#1 - Prayer session
#2 - Road trip to the beach
#3 - Road trip to the runways at LAX
#4 - Workout at the gym
#5 - $1.50 Chocolate-dipped ice cream bar w/almonds at the Costco snack bar
#6 - $1 Hot fudge sundae from McDonalds (or a Mcflurry)
#7 - See a movie at the $5 theater
#8 - Rent a movie from Redbox
#9 - Cook spaghetti and meatballs
#10 - three letters: KFC
#11 - catch an episode of House or some other show on Hulu.com
#12 - meditation to relaxing music/sounds or one of my favorite solfeggio harmonics frequencies
#13 - sleep

I really hope you do this at the west end of the runways. I could enjoy doing this on the beach, but definitely not the other end.

Oops I forgot..

- play my drums
- detail my car
- fly my r/c helicopters

I used to have a lot of stress in my life, which is the reason that I found Jesus, and the reason I'm real good at finding ways to de-stress ;)

I guess if you want to relax then the west end would be best. I prefer the east end where all the action is. My favorite spot is the In n Out burger on Sepulveda where they fly overhead at about 50ft.as they land. And you can feel the ground shake when they take off. :)

I know the place. I should ban you for mentioning In N Out burger here though!!! :p

It's been fourteen years to the month since I left LA County and I do miss In N Out and Tommie's, not much else though. :D

When I need to detox I pray and go out, I also listen to calming songs, for instance Faithful from Brooke Fraser helped me a couple days ago when I was feeling suffocated. I've been a little stressed out lately and I have learned that movement helps, staying active and talking with a friend cheers me up, especially if that friend prays for me :). Did I mention sleeping? Waking up to another day is just refreshing!

PS. Praying for you Dianna.

Thanks y'all :) God is good and faithful to bring us through. Jesus told us we would face trials, but He would be with us. They make us stronger and teach us much, so I don't want to be a whiner about it. :)

Honestly though, this trial is actually much my own making. Work was my escape when I was going through a very difficult time and I've been stuck in a workaholic mode of my own making. God is with me and we are breaking it up. :) It's not healthy for anyone to carry a triple workload on 3-4 hours sleep for an extended period of time. It has to stop. NOW :) Recognizing that changes have to be made is half the battle. :) And I don't like being this grumpy :D

Thanks for your prayers and ideas! You guys are great!

Gabe, it would be awesome to sit and watch the jets Maverick style :)

Strong1, sweetie, I'm totally gonna pray for you! :) :D Stay strong, Sister!!

P.S. Love your signature verse, kayem. It's one of my favs :)

If I really need to relax I'Il pray for this. But I¨ll get extra sleep, I put on my headphones, I play video games, I'll visit CC, or just think to myself.

I got a new job that will require hour long drives and the scenery is new to me: farmlands and plains. Its a relaxing sight especially on cloudy days.

Talking to God is the big one for me. Reading the Bible is helpful always.
Then there is:
Spending time with my niece, playing an instrument, listening to music, watching a TV show or movie, finding some project to do. I used to bike a good bit. I've found physical activity can be a good release.

The more I learn to trust God, the less I tend to get stressed.

I'll usually read, or get some food and sit in front of the t.v. and watch The history channel.
