What are some things you think you should have in common with your partner? (aside from being a Christian - I'm going to take for granted that the majority here want that). What are some interests, opinions, etc, that you think you should have that are different?

Things I should have in common with my future spouse...

1. Awesomeness level.
2. Humour, (I even spelled it with a u, because I think it's cooler that way.)
3. Shared political views.
4. Smarts, street and book. I likes the book reading.

Things we should have different...

1. Gender...
2. Skills, I like a guy with skills. If he has skills I don't have, he can teach me, and then we can be super skilled and take over the world. I'm pretty excited about it.

Things I want my wife and I to have in common:

1. desire to laugh and have fun
2. willingness to share the Christian faith with other people in a loving way
3. Discipline with money ( I would never marry someone who has no control or discipline when it comes to $)
4. A drive and determination to be great and whatever we do

Things in common:
1. Sense of humor. He has to be able to make me laugh, and he has to be able to laugh at me
2. Intelligence. Book smart and common sense.
3. An interest in at least some of the same kinds of music
4. A willingness to learn and experience new things

Different things:
1. Different skill areas
2. I want him to know lots of things that I don't, and not know things that I do - so that we can teach each other and learn from each other

Uh oh. I think we're all in trouble if Chels gets her wish list in a guy :).

This is a really good question, Musical... to be honest... every time I think I have a "list" nailed down... I figure God is just gonna mix it up anyway... but things I'd like to have in common:

1. Faith and commitment level to our callings in God, of course.
2. Work ethic and sense of responsibility (no lazy bums for me, sorry! Been there!! ACK!)
3. Similar senses of humor (sorry Chel, no "u" here but I see your point in the coolness factor :))
4. Similar family backgrounds, if possible, so we won't argue about what values to raise kids with.
5. Some hobbies in common... hopefully... such as a love of travel.
6. Similar outlook on health (good eating habits, regular workouts) and cleanliness (daily hygiene is a must, sorry! Yes, I know I'm picky in wanting a guy who bathes and shaves regularly), as well as tidiness (a few piles here and there are fine, but I can't function amidst mass disorganization--and he has to be someone who does his fair share of housework instead of expecting a maid.)

Things I would like to be different:
1. I do agree that varying interests can be a bonus because you learn from each other.
2. I hope he's traveled to places I haven't been so he can take me there and teach me about new places (even if it's just in the next town.)
3. I'm hoping for someone good with electronics and gadgets so he can teach me about all the latest!

Um, of course, maybe those electronical gadgets would include things such as a washer and dryer, vaccuum, and iron? :) Ooohhh Baby! I'm halfway to falling in love, already! ;)

I may need one of those needles... to *gently nudge* MM with... :). Of course, she's so young, she may not know what a knitting needle is :).

Hmm. I would want my potential spouse to be from the same time era as me, give or take a few decades... (ha!)

HA!! Now THAT would be scary.

Maybe the male equivalent of me would carry a chopstick instead of a knitting needle... and getting back to topic...

Do you think we have a lot in common, or different, MM?

I apparently didn't get your joke about the oboe yesterday either (when you said something about 30 yards... all I could think of was you running across a football field and tackling them with your oboe), but...

I guess that's one of our differences.

Musical makes jokes... and I don't get them... a good difference, or not? :)

Ok, y'all--we're not trying to dominate the threads, just keeping them going--please feel free to jump in at any time!! ;)
