Do you ever feel the need to take a broom to your life? Clear out the cobwebs and junk that's weighing you down?

This past week I've been making changes. And so has God. Getting rid of things I don't need (but someone else does) and things that take up far too much of my time/thoughtlife, serving no good purpose.

There are times when we may even need to walk away from people. When it gets to the point where our desire to help them is actually hurting us, it's time to give them to God and walk on.

I've even cleaned up my hard drive. :p

New always begins with Jesus. He can show us what needs to go. Be sure to loosen your grip. It's far more painful if you don't.

I'll even share my dumpster. :)

I love this post :)

I often find that things from my past can distract me from my future, and even my present. Even then, it's still hard for me to get rid of these nostalgic items.

I find it hard to walk away from someone even who I know is harmful to me. I never feel that they threaten my relationship with God, and this can sometimes make me try even harder to help them with their life. I don't think I could live like that forever, always trying to keep everyone close, but I know that mentally and emotionally I can handle it right now so I try however I can.

Thanks, Skybound. I know what you mean about wanting to help and protect people. :) Some of us are like that, huh? We want good for everyone, even those who don't seem to want it for us or themselves.

God has shown me this week that by continuing to allow ourselves to serve as their crutches, we can often hinder their personal growth as well as our own. This had never really occurred to me before.

I agree completely. Sometimes the best help you can give someone is to point them in another direction. Just because we want to help someone doesn't mean that we can always offer the best of solutions.

I absolutely agree with this Julliana. The past weeks I felt I was in the middle of a biblical squall. Everything that can be shaken was shaken and it happened in part because I believe God wants me to make changes. My thought life and my heart has been filled with way too much foolish things and worldly concerns.

I just finished my quiet time with the Lord and what he impressed in my heart were your last few sentences, EXACTLY. (well almost) I believe it is not an accident that the first thing I saw was your post. Confirmation? Check!!!

God bless your heart. Thank you for this. It's truly a divine appointment.

A house that is full of things that are old or useless, can be detrimental to the function of that house. If my house so so full of old newspapers that I couldn't walk through it, the house would be serving no function. Just like this, if my life is full of uselessness or clutter, how can I effectively serve God? Just me thinking aloud here.

Aha! You have my missing puzzle piece!! :3

Pastor's Sermon yesterday was really good but I left with more questions than answers. I had a couple friends that I had been trying SO hard to keep in the light of Jesus but they were bent on going doing the road that only leads to destruction. So I finally let them go.

Well anyway in the sermon he talked about how our trust in our religiousness(instead of Jesus) can lead to judgmental behavior and I was suddenly really worried that I may have made the wrong decision in letting my friends go. It was like the symptoms were lining up but I really didn't feel like the sources were lining up. I didn't think that I thought I was better or more worthy than my friends, but I did think little of what they did...

But you filled in the missing piece by saying this: it's time to give them to God and walk on.

I think that in all the pain I was in- I might have relied on anger to get me to let them go and instead of giving them to God, it was more like giving up and handing them over to the Devil. So thank you- I finally figured out what part God was convicting me. I shall now go and do some praying. ^-^

Jullianna, your dumpster is locked....and my hands are full....can you unlock it? Nice avatar too.

For me one thing that was weighing me down was spending too much time on this forum. Took me a while to realize this, but I did figure it out.
