There are some things that know are beautiful. To me they are sublime and intoxicating to look at.

But one of the things that I can't wait to know when I get to heaven is how to view it all with a sense of beauty and wonder. I want to be able to see what is beautiful about deserts and sagebrush. I grew up in Sage Brush and I think its ugly and smells terrible.

I can look at a Mountain of a Forest and see aha, this is Captivating and Green and gorgeous. And there are many different kinds of Forests and Mountains. BUT I think I love them all. I love ALL the trees!

I want to know what the people who love Dr Pepper and Root Beer are experiencing, that I am missing out on.

I like Mt. Dew and Mello Yello but, was that an acquired taste? I don't really know.

What does chocolate taste like to a woman who loves it more than anything?

What does that weird couple at church see in each other? He wears Hawaiian shirts and a man-purse and she always has scrubs or a Mu Mu on. I don't really get it but, I want to, cause they are in it deep.

I want to be able to appreciate the things that I don't know how to, like appreciating a woman's Maternal Instincts, like appreciating a woman's need for security or just how diverse and complex that we are. I want to appreciate people who my personality conflicts with. I want to appreciate what other people look forward to in life.

So tell me what you like about the things that captivate you? What is it about the flavor, the smell, the color, etc. :)

I wonder about others' perspective on life, their inner turmoil, or why they're in such a rush. I wonder about looking through the world with a different pair of eyes and a different heart... to see what they see, feel what they feel. Or in other words: I love to people watch :p. I love mountains too, I've always wanted to spend my free time on a high mountain, looking down, feeling the breeze and being in awe at God's mighty works. I love the smell of spring because of flowers and the smell of new beginnings :) Just to name a few....

me, I'm not seeking to know what it is like for another, I just want to create the time to soak it up as it is for me....

Maybe that is what heaven is like... enough time to enjoy the details.

Beauty is everywhere, literally. You just have to look for it. There is beauty even in ugliness (no offense, Ugly). What blocks us from seeing it is our trained minds that label everything we see. Once we learn to do away with the labels or to look past them we will see what we are really looking at and if you look with your heart and not with your eyes you will see beauty in everything..pain, misery, life, struggle, death, youth, old age, brokenness, poverty, you name it. This also applies to the visual. You'll see beauty in trees, mountains, city streets, grass, sand, etc.. The world around is is filled with beauty, but because of our pragmatic way of seeing things most of us never notice it.

Man! lol deep questions to ponder @ 3AM. lol I am awake ...again...I think I slept for an 1 1/2..hmmmm...It is pretty interesting how similar, yet so different we all are. Sometimes the way something is presented to us also shapes how we see beauty or enjoyment,I suppose in something. Kind of a strange example, but a few years ago I was watching a TV show called No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain. On this episode he went traveling across the California desert with Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age. Before ever seeing that,I never had any desire whatsoever to see any of that landscape or the culture that lies in it. Now I'd love to just run away to there in live off the grid,be one with the vast desert, talk to God under the moonlit skies listening to coyote howl, eat BBQ at questionable diners & drink an ice cold beer with a bunch of bikers. LOL...randomness.....why do I like 7-UP but only in diet form? Why can't I appreciate the beauty in the accents of Southerners??? Why is it like nails on a chalk board for me? Was I dropped on my head as a baby?..oh wait,I did fall down a flight of stairs in one of those scoot-walker things you sit in at age 2 I think & busted my head open,so ok..not a good example. The smell of women's Obsession perfume & the smell of vanilla drive me insane. (in a good way) it's like I am transported to a distant land. I have often dreamed of living underwater. The sound of waves against the shore is the most amazing sound. Where am I going with all this..have I lost sight of this thread. Oh,I better move on & derail another.:)

(An ice cold Dr Pepper is a Coke with that little extra something for me. Rootbeer is okay in small doses, but can be far too sweet, especially when it begins to warm...kinda sappy. Chocolate is a party in your mouth, especially dark chocolate...the smoothness and the chemical releases that occur in the brain. :) )

Beautiful...

The blooming roses in my front yard.
The patchwork quilt of rolling farm fields I pass on my way to work.
The amazing hawk I see on the fencepost.
My dog's big brown eyes looking up at me as if I am the most precious thing he's ever seen.
Children laughing and giggling...always makes me smile.
Watching a bird take a bath in a puddle.
Cloud formations.
Stars.
Classical music or smooth jazz in the middle of the night.
The setting sun.
Sun rays piercing clouds.
Watching my son sleep peacefully.

I've often wondered liamson if a blind , deaf or mute knows something in realms I don't .,
they have no concept of what green ,blue, or what purity "looks like" .. A deaf person has no concept of heaing tones .. Words .. they don't know what kindness, harshness or what words love speaks ..I've often wondered what sitting in the mind of any three of those things would be like ..I wonder if their source of comfort comes from the vibration of their own heart beat ..or if they are sitting in peace by the vibrating rivers of blood flowing through their body .. I winder if they have sense of heaven we do not .. I also wonder what the source of light is a blind person left in darkness experiences . There must be other open avenues of light coming in because so many of them are peaceful, joyful, calm and content ... Yeah .. I find things like that beautiful .
I see a flower in a field .. and wonder if it's beauty is so pure because it stayed planted exactly where it was suppose to be .. It's a delicate thing but because it never moves , all it's strength and beauty is preserved for its Godly display in brief moment
.. sometimes so far off the grid , it's never seen, it displays itself for Gods enjoyment .. And gods enjoyment alone .. I fin beauty in that too..
pinkies locked by old couples sitting next to each other .. a quite smile not involved in a conversation but hears it at a distance .. yeah ... stuff like that ? I find beyond beautiful .. I don't think there are words to even describe it ..

Liamson....

Sage brush. I'm totally surrounded by it RIGHT. NOW. and it's ugly, and it makes me sneezy and weepy-eyed when it blooms. But for about an hour after it rains...that stuff....smells fantastic.

I know, old thread, blah blah...

I enjoyed the sagebrush while on a trip coming back from Colorado as a child simply because it's different than the plants we have in northern California.

That couple in the Hawaiin shirt and mumu are both quirky and connect on so many different levels that appearance is no longer as important to them by comparison.

Dr. Pepper is an awesome experience of bubbly sweetness with a hint of a mysterious spice.

Maybe just being a little different or harder to understand is what makes some things beautiful.

for me sensual indulgence is waht I am being taught to give up, here on earth. and see the majestically wonderts in the heavens, where Christ is at seated for now at rest, resting along side of Christ

--A clarion A that rings juuuust right.
--The rear end of a kart or roadster breaking free just enough to turn into the corner more.
--The smell of star anise, cinnamon, Maggi, and beef simmering together.
--The look on a sixth-grader's face when they finally...finally...get that concert F to speak.
--A perfectly executed tritone substitution in bebop.
--A gymnast on the rings, absolutely frozen, body parallel to the ground, and icewater in his stare.
--The subtle floral aroma and simple taste of freshly cooked jasmine rice.
--The gentle, average waves of the ocean colliding with rocks, sand, cliffs.
--Michael Brecker and Bob Mintzer chasing each other through Giant Steps.
--The mind-reading, cooperation, and movement between two well-seasoned dancers in a tango.
--The subtle tinges of orange peel, vanilla, cinnamon, rosemary, and smoke that permeate a fine scotch.
--The cascades of yellows, oranges, reds, maroons, pinks, purples, and blues that make a New Mexico sunset.
--The third movement of Phillip Sparke's Dance Movmements, especially halfway through.
--The fluidity and gracefulness of a ballerina extending her reach.
--The sight, sound, and smell of a seasoned New York strip browning on cast-iron.
--Flickering, dancing flames in a campfire or fireplace, surrounded by the dark.
--A perfect eight-count open roll with no ticks or accents.
--A perfect dismount of a gymnast off of a balance beam.
--The cool, crisp tang of a tall Arnold Palmer on a hot day.
--The confidence and peace in a student's body language and presence as they are about to play something at the very peak of their excellence.

I think I'd be too busy worshiping God to notice anything else. After all, we have eternity to do whatever else whenever God wants it.
