The developmentally disabled man I am supporting and I are currently at his community garden. After watering and weeding, he likes to sing to his veggies. Usually they are Irish folk songs or sea chanties. Today, he brought sheet music to "On Top of Old Smokey." My job rocks sometimes!

Bonus: a little old lady had a bumper crop of peppers and practically forced me to take some off her hands. Got onions and celery, and I think some shrimp in the freezer. Looks like a creole cookin' night!
I SERIOUSLY need to hire this man to sing to my houseplants. Out of around 15 or so small plants that I've purchased in the last 6 months, only one is thriving and 6 are hanging on by a very thin thread. I lost another 2 last week. Even a cactus in my little miniature cacti garden literally turned to jelly and collapsed. Sigh.

I'm thinking that if this man were to sing a rousing round of "Oh When the Saints Come Marching In", it may help to revive my poor wilted basil plant...

P.S. Send some of those extra peppers over to Gypsy. I'm sure she'd LOVE them. :)

You may want to re-think on the song you chose. The song may tempt your plant to "give up the ghost" and wither away. :D

Kept the cat in my room last night. Not sure if it was a mistake yet or not...he kept attacking my feet through the night. >.<

just to be clear, i only "liked" your post because i love community gardens and especially singing to one's veggies. i wholeheartedly support that.

in fact i liked that part so much that overlooked the part about the peppers...

I got a Doctor Who poster about a month or two ago. Unfortunately, I didn't have a frame for it. I've been wanting to get a frame for it for THE LONGEST TIME. SO. Today, I set out to do so. I also got tons of fall decorations. The house looks all autumny now. ^.^ And I put literal blood, sweat, and figurative tears into getting my poster into the frame (watch out for those pointy things you gotta lift up. It cut me pretty deep on my thumb. I'll be fine, it's just...wow. I didn't think those things were so sharp.)

Did you pick a peck? :D And by the way, what time is dinner tonight? I'll get my car key and be right there!

In local news, the boss called me while I was still slinking around this here forum and said "Come in now, we don't have a maintenance man and we need you to do some stuff!" So I got there early and did some of the stuff the maintenance man was supposed to do. Turns out he was asleep at 5am when he was supposed to be at work. At 5:30am he sent the boss a text that she woke him up. At 6:10 he sent her a text that his uniform was in the dryer. At about 7:20 he sent her a text that he had a fever and diarrhea and wouldn't be in... A little after 3pm, long after the morning shift boss had left, guess who came in. Yup, that guy who said he was sick. He chatted with the night boss, sat in the break room talking on the phone to some people and didn't look at all sick. Hmm...

Okay, that's my venting for the day. I made some extra money off the whole thing so I'm happy.

I really wonder what the future will be like in terms of living spaces.

I read this in the paper today: "For the first time, the generation now aged 25 to 29 risks being ultimately poorer than their parents."

In our city, what has become popular is community dwelling. There are in the city with large old character homes with 5-8 rooms, where people live together and share rent. Yeah this might have been a thing you did in college, then once you get a job, you get a spouse and a house, etc. I think people are going to grow up together in these communities, a bunch of single, married, old young adults. Mixed communities. I think the high rates of single adults, crushing debt, cost of living and owning property, people are coming together. Good stuff.

You think that's something to wonder about... think about the nostalgia our generation will have. That's gonna be weird. "Hey baby, why don't we put on our best fake accounts, get online and trick people into watching that Rick Astley video." "Oh honey, it'll be just like old times!"

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down...

No can do, my connection is running through my phone as well. I have one of those phones that can broadcast a wireless signal that a laptop can connect to. Slower than molasses in January, but it's good enough to keep up with the forum.

How long does it usually take to start feeling better? Meh... sleep isn't a bad thing. If I'm hurting I'd rather be sleeping and oblivious anyway. :p Someone wake me up when it's over!

*hugs for Ugly*
Well, it can be weeks, though i think the pain should lessen sooner. When i had this in my legs i went a few weeks having trouble walking. Its been two weeks now, but it didn't become really painful til a few days ago.

I just found out that the spin-off series Torchwood is an acronym of Doctor Who. Mind blown.

In other news, I just bought ice cream. I put the "decoy" ice cream in front of the freezer, and the Ben & Jerry's in the back. So far it's working, as the kid has only gotten into the decoy. Why, oh, why have I not done this sooner?

The lady I support loves watching 19 kids and counting, and I've been watching it with her ever so often. It boggles my mind how neat and perfectly 'christian' the family appears to be. All smiles and happy endings, no expressing anger or bad feelings at each other. In a home of 19 kids?! No greed or jealousy. Everyone is happy for everyone. Yay! The girls are starting to get engaged. They were courting. After the engagement, they finally decided to hold hands. Like is this real?

So its LIES, all LIES! I expect a novel or two to come out years down the line about how it really was living in that household. I wouldn't read it, I just expect it.
