I guess I read from the hipster translation, aka the NASB and Young's Literal Translation. Lol. I don't have many issues with them, though there are a LOT of issues with NIV. I forget how many words the NIV has omitted from their translation. And I pray to God that no one uses the paraphrased bible or The Message bible. *shudder*

NASB is also good, imo.

What are you putting on soundcloud? Are you a singer/musician, or are you doing audio blogs?

Indian women have unibrows??

That's the first time I have even thought that there could be Indian women who have unibrows. Such stereotypes are made by couch-potatoes and arm-chair critics. If you have not come to India, don't make stereotypes about the us.
I was using it as an example of stereotypes. Someone said "Cats are evil" and as a feline I had to refute that. I've never seen an indian woman with a unibrow before.

From the little I've read, the ESV is a very good translation of the Bible. Probably one of the most solid and readable to date.
ESV is handy in a bible program. See, you can have multiple versions of the Bible loaded, and click on a verse in what they call "comparative view" and it shows you that verse in all the Bible versions you have installed. Technology, for all its drawbacks, sometimes really rocks. :)

Musician. :) I play guitar and some piano. I sing a little but I don't think it's my strong point. I want to work on those things but I also have wanted to make actual tracks for a while. My tablet has a really good mic on it, so I can record decent stuff on it. I found an app I can use to record and layer tracks on. I'm gonna try and work on that today.

Neat! I make soundtracks so I can sing songs at church without the piano player learning more new songs (her plate is usually full already, poor overworked girl.) I use Audacity for simple editing and Reaper for virtual instruments and main composition.

Here's a link to some of the stuff I did.

The songs with a singer or group name after the song title are the songs other people did. The ones labeled "soundtrack" are the reproductions I made with my keyboard and computer. Quality of some of the older tracks is lower, because I didn't know as much when I made them. Personally I think "Jesus is a rock" and "Chasing after You" came out best.

I know how that goes. I run everything music at my church. I dont mind it much now that I have the right people working with me.

Though I havent worked with it before, the app I got seems to be like a garage band type app. It also has instruments on there I dont have such as drums. So I can use the app to make a drum beat and whatnot. I definitely am using my own instruments where I can, though. Maybe get creative and find a way to create my own precussions. Use like a wooden shelf and a homemade egg shaker hahaha

I can also appreciate those who record as a living...yikes. You have to get your timing JUST RIGHT. Just about driving me nuts. I mean, I have a good sense of rhythm and can be as consistent as a metronome when I try hard enough. Its just wow. Even a quarter of a beat off and you notice it!
I think I realized my problem - I stay on beat, it's just your typical mic delay. No more using the in-app metronome.

Why are so many Americans in love with the KJV? It's so outdated and difficult to understand.
There are a few sects here in the States that dogmatically teach that the KJV is the ONLY translation that doesn't contain any errors in translation (it's almost cultish) and I think that CC has an unusually high percentage of users that come from that train of thinking. There are even a few really out there sects that seem to think that God speaks in Elizabethan English. I've only met a couple of Christians that hold to KJV Onlyism outside of the cyber realm.

I will agree that the language is outdated and many words have dramatically changed in definition over the centuries since it was translated.

There are two different methods modern translators use: word for word (NASB) and thought for thought (NIV) and in reality they both have their benefits. Word for word translation is more literal to the original in phrasing whereas thought for thought translation tends to be an easier read.

As much trash talk as there is invariably pointed at the NIV, what most people don't understand is that the translators INTENTIONALLY set out to provide a translation that could be easily read and understood by persons with lower reading comprehension levels. Not everyone reads at a college level of comprehension. Personally I like the older NIV (1978, 1984) , whereas the latest edition (2011) is getting a bit too PC with removal of gender specific pronouns.

lil_christian: Ah, you have discovered latency! That is a bugbear particularly vexing to anyone who uses computers with music. Unless you have low-latency audio drivers there will be a perceptible lag between when you play a note and when the computer registers it. And you probably won't find low-latency audio drivers for a tablet... though I could be wrong, and hope I am wrong.

It's really annoying when you load a virtual instrument and play it through a MIDI keyboard. You hit a note and a quarter of a second later the computer finally plays the note. A WHOLE QUARTER OF A SECOND!!! An eternity in music time! Every laptop I use has ASIO (or equivalent) low-latency audio drivers installed first thing.

For lack of anything better to do while I wait for bread to rise, and due to the fact that singles chat is TOTALLY DEAD... I have been reduced to going to the Lounge chatroom.

God healed the sinus infection I had for a long time by laying of hand on my face this morning.
I felt no heat in my hand or face, as some healing does accompany, and I can breathe without having to blow my nose so often. I wanna share this, give praise and thanksgiving to God the Healer, and make a declaration also.

Psalm 36 says that those who put their trust under the shadow of His wings shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of His house; and He shalt make them drink of the river of His pleasures. The shadow of His wings, abundantly satisfied, the fatness of His house. The abundance of His house - not my kind of abundance or the world's but His kind of abundance. To be honest with you, it seems to me that I've been chasing and desiring after God's promises, abundance, and His "stuff". When desiring Holy Spirit, it was more of being filled with His presence so I can do things, receiving power, praying in tongue to edify myself. It dawned on me last night that I've been seeking His hand instead of seeking His face. Nothing's wrong with seeking His hand but I was more interested in what He can do for me, what the Holy Spirit can do for me in my life rather than wanting and simply desiring His company, having fellowship with the Holy Spirit because I simply want to get to know Him personally. It is like I wanna date this girl because I mean look at her and look at what she has to offer... rather than just simply, with no agenda, just wanting to be with her, spend personal time with her, and perhaps be able to tell her I like her. I need to rethink about my relationship with Abba, especially with the Holy Spirit who dwells in my body.

Haha Christian,

funny, after reading Psalms from Tanach, I ended up reading the same psalm from KJV today, perhaps because of all the discussion on KJV I saw last night. My main bible is Tanach, then ESV, and KJV when I need more details or clarification.

Anyhoo, God bless my brother and 9 more days indeed!

here's a link to one of my performances from a year ago. I LOVED doing this piece and I've been meaning to share it, but I only just recently got around to getting a copy of it from the office and successfully ripping it onto my computer. The audio is pretty bad in the first few seconds but it gets better once we start playing. ^_^

I like Young's Literal too. Unfortunately I don't have a physical copy but it's excellent when your cross referencing
