I found out last night that a girl from my high school class died about a month ago. I wasn't friends with her; nobody was. She was heavy, red haired, freckled, and didn't bathe. Girls would ask the gym teacher to give them a different locker in the locker room if they were assigned one near stinky, fat Flo. The popular girls would accuse Flo of being a lesbian, they'd say she watched them change their clothes. Boys in the hall would yell "Here comes Thunder Thighs!", "Make way for Fatty!", "Hey Flo, when's the last time you had a shower?".

People were cruel to her, every day, and nobody stood up for her.

I never called her names...to her face. I never laughed when people taunted her. But I never told anyone to shut up and leave her alone, either.

People didn't pick on me at school, not like that, and not in high school. Of course in middle school someone would occasionally say something mean, but I got off pretty easy as far as bullying goes. Flo...school must have been a nightmare for her.

I guess I'm just feeling guilty, thinking I could have made things a little easier on her if I'd had any guts back then. I guess I'm just wishing I had ever bothered to say hello to her in the hall, or offer to help her pick up her books after someone "accidentally" ran into her.

She died in her sleep. I don't know if she was alone or not. I remember that she liked horses.

I remember in my first grade there was this really small girl who sat in the very front - her face always looked dirty as if she hasn't washed her face in weeks, wearing same clothes everyday and people would make fun of her. Although I never participated in the bullying, the thought of standing up for her, it comes to me in the form of 'what ifs' and 'why didn't you.' Funny, I still remember her full name to this day, the look in her eyes that showed her fighting spirit, and the same dirty red jacket that she wore throughout the entire terms.

I didn't go to public school. Nobody bullied anyone when I was doing school. Sure, we teased each other, but that's what siblings do :) I had it easy :)

Oh my gosh. I just saw today that the lead singer of the CCM band Casting Crowns was diagnosed with kidney cancer and is undergoing surgery to have one of his kidneys removed.

So, this week, i've had more run ins with people on the forums than usual.
Got into a huge blowout with a good friend that became so irate i had to block them on FB to stop them from yelling at me.
Another very close friend and i had a misunderstanding. I got advice from someone else on how to handle it and they made me aware that this person is different form people i normally deal with and i needed to learn t deal with them differently. So i went back to them and apologized, explained myself and what i'd learned. It's been 24 hours since i can confirm they read my apology, yet they haven't responded with a single word.

I'm beginning to think i need to hide away for a little while. This is apparently not a good time for me to be interacting with people.

Those couple of songs have had me in tears. Just thinking how it must have felt to be that girl...

the part that really stinks is that NOW I care, when it makes no difference.

Sorry this happened Ugly... I think it shows a lot that you apologized. I'll pray for reconciliation for you. Maybe they just need time to let it soak in. Or, they had to read and run. I do that sometimes. I like to take my time forming important responses, so I sometimes save them for evening when I am less distracted. *poke *hug

There is a button in the tool bar at the top of the message window that looks like a film strip. You click that, and then insert the web address for the clip you want. :)

That's not entirely true.

There are so many "Flos" around. Its not too late to make a difference to them.

I've seen how prolific you are with pictures in the Photography thread, Blue. I don't think you can be trusted with embedding videos. :p

I just noticed that the name Isreal is the joining of the words "is real" as in God is real. I think my mind just exploded! :D
