I found this online earlier tonight and thought I would share.

Hemingway is a writing checker that is absolutely brilliant.

  • checks all spellings for you
  • checks if you’re over-using adverbs
  • picks out over-complicated sentences
  • suggests replacements for over-complicated phrases
  • picks out the passive voice
  • tells you how readable your text is (Grades/College level/etc)
  • calculates reading time

Everything else I might be able to devise an algorithm for, but... reading time? How can it calculate that? I can read a page of posts on this forum in roughly 1.5 minutes. Some would take three minutes, some less than half a minute, some ten.

Much thanks (and love) to the people that posted supportive comments yesterday. @cinder - I'm wont to keeping my demons to myself, but am not opposed to taking you up on the offer for an ear. Much appreciated. :)

I hate seafood, but someone got me to try some kind of sushi for the first time. I nearly threw up at first XD, but it wasn't that bad. I'm not sure what that red stuff is on the side, but it was atrocious lol.

The red stuff is pickled cabbage. The green putty is wasabi. Well... seiyo wasabi, which is horseradish.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn

Why oh why can't someone invent teleportation (so that one can just take a shower, eat and then magically appear at work) ?

So my grandmother's sister passed away about a week ago. At the funeral, her son told my grandma to take anything she wanted. She picked a few things and gave me this little doll (knowing I collect toys). I think it's really cute and I'll cherish it as it was my grandaunt's toy. Does anyone know what type of doll it is? I've seen them before but I don't know the name...
I wanna get him some clothes.

Well, I know it's a Kewpie Doll. But I don't know any more than that.

For the record...horseradish and wasabi are completely different plants/flavors. Most of what you'll find in the US is horseradish (which I also like), but green dyed horseradish is most definitely NOT wasabi (despite what anyone or any packaging says...).

Most of this is due to how cheap and common horseradish is compared to wasabi. Wasabi is considerably harder to grow and both the leaves and root can be used for food, medicine, and such. Horseradish is pervasive (like a weed), and sure, lol...try eating those leaves and see how it goes.

Tintin so how did you know the name of the doll? I'm curious did a sister of yours have them as a kid or something?

I'm not sure, Molly. I don't have a sister, but I do remember seeing some of those dolls around, back in the day. Maybe in antique shops or something.
