I love my sister, but sometimes she doesn't have her head screwed on tight enough. So, she's babysitting two little girls for the last couple of weeks while she's at my mom's and her house. She expects them to sit and watch movies pretty much the whole time, at whenever I've come over. And then she gets mad when they get up, starts to play, or even talk.

Today, she starts bossing my mom and I around, saying we need to be good examples. And my mom was like, "I am?" She just doesn't understand that children need to do more then sit still. Especially if they are bored with the movie.

Plopping them in front of a screen all day is not healthy. Do the parents know this is what she does with them all day? I'd be mad if someone did this to my kid all day.

Eventually, she did let them run outside for a few minutes and then play a game with them. As for their parents, I do not know.

That's good. I'm glad she is playing with them. :)

I'm in southwest TN. Come on by on your way through and collect a loaf of sourdough bread.
Yeah, I'm a little late to respond. Lol I didn't go through SW Tennessee. :( I have been through that area before though and quite enjoyed it.

An acquaintance of mine that I have known for about 15 years tried having the "Jon you need to stop this monastic silliness and get a girlfriend" talk with me. If I could find a woman who was cool with never going out together, had zero interest in romance, and wouldn't care that I don't communicate or share my feelings, I might be down.

LOL. Some people are so nosy and over-eager to play match-maker. Bless their hearts.

ok

Thing 1: Super happy to see you here. :)

Thing 2: Some people don't get it and I'm sure that annoys you...I'd say sorry but I don't think you want a sorry...you just wanted to tell us.

Thing 3: I'm still being happy you're here. :) :)

I was just reading through the family forum - unfortunately there are many marriages breaking up over there :(. A response to one such post to one of the women advises "just let God be your husband right now."

Though I understand what is meant by this, I'm wondering what comparable advice would be given to a male going through such marital difficulties. Though God doesn't really have a gender in the way we think of it, he has revealed himself to us as God the Father, so I don't see "just let God be your wife right now" as appropriate. And despite the church being the "bride of Christ" I don't think the same advice of "just let God be your husband" fits either - it kind of sounds icky.

I agree. I've been through a divorce. I don't know about other people but me, personally, it was more like - Let God be God. Let God be Lord over my life. I mean, the trial of divorce or not, God should have the ultimate highest seat in my life. I think when we've replace that highest seat with our spouse it makes the loss more devastating because God isn't where He should be since we've elevated a human - that will fail us - to that spot.
