This probably suits the random thread better but it is on my mind.... I don't like when someone drinks from a sharable container in the refrigerator.

Girl, don't be coming over to my house then.

Well, I take that back.

Of course you're welcome to come over to my house.

Just don't be drinkin' the Kool-Aid.

This thread is as random as it gets, ma'am. And sorry about that... I really like cranberry juice and sometimes late at night I just don't want to bother with a glass.

Just kidding. I would never drink cranberry juice that late at night. I'd never be able to get back to sleep.

Reminds me of something a comedian said one time, about visiting people.

"Make yourself at home."
"Don't say it unless you mean it. I'll drink straight from the milk carton."

Z
I always come with my own supply. Not for the same reason. Some get carried away when visiting and really make themselves at home. I prefer to be company. Unless dining is the reason for the visit

So basically I won't be in your Kool-Aid :p

Add vodka and you'd be knocked out. Works for me.

No thanks. I tried drinking back in my "let's try this because a lot of people like it" days. Tried everything from a mild buzz to staggering, and all levels I tried multiple times. All alcohol does is make it impossible for me to get to sleep (unless I use a sleeping pill,) plus I feel like crap on toast the next day.

Catch up with those gym bunnies? X eeeeeeeeeeee (buzzer sound) wrong. =P
Keeping in shape for health, good. Striving to be some "cute" skinny gym bunny, bad. Why not strive to be Rachel? That's what God made you to be and to try to be anything else is going against God's design. Going against God's design is going against your own life, purpose and meaning. Don't strive to be anyone else, or like anyone else. Strive to be who God created you to be. He did so with a purpose in mind. He didn't create you and say "oops, I messed up". He created you and said "perfect, beautiful, I love her!". Why would you ever want to live any differently than how God made you knowing how He felt when He did?
You're a little naive, personally I find that to be a good trait in a woman. Naievity often allows for a degree of innocence to be maintained. There are many out there that find that an endearing quality.
If youre a little heavier, so what? A lot of guys like women that aren't too skinny.
You have a lot of good qualities. The ones God gave you. Both inside and outside. Stop trying to mold them into something God never intended. That will only feed more unhappiness into you and your life as you resist God and His good work.
While this is no-doubt well-intended, it is also full of erroneous assumptions.

To begin with -- I believe that Rachel's statement was intended - at least partially - as a light-hearted 'comical' expression of her interest in reaching a goal of "toning" her body for both health and appearance:

It's both - Get healthier, and also hopefully look better so I can catch up to these gym bunnies.
And then, in her next statement, she basically presupposes everything you said in your post:

I know my focus is in the wrong place...only half of it though. That's better than all of it, right? (I already know your answer and it starts with an "N")
She even anticipates - in general - what your answer will be.

So - you didn't actually tell her anything that she didn't already understand - and agree to - beforehand.

Now - I will totally agree with the idea that doing anything strictly for vanity-based reasons is certainly less-than-good. However, working at being more healthy is never a bad thing. Moreover, I would suggest that working at having a "healthier" appearance is never a bad thing - as long as it is not strictly for vanity-based reasons.

Never chide anyone for wanting to be more healthy, or wanting to attain a "healthier" appearance.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with either one.

And, the "gym bunnies" part of her statement is not about her idolizing the appearance of others; rather, it is about her attaining to a goal that pertains to her own appearance. ( The way I took it, at least. I believe her comparison to "gym bunnies" was intended - at least for the most part - as humor -- rather than her being in any form of actual competition with them. And, if I know Rachel well enough -- she is not in the slightest interested in such as that. )

It is a well-known indisputable proven fact that "extra weight" is less healthy. And, the more "extra weight" you have, the less healthy it is. So - "just a little" extra weight is "just a little" less-than-healthy while "a whole lot" of extra weight is "a whole lot" less-than-healthy. Period - no two ways about it.

Anyone who refuses to believe this obvious proven truth is only deluding themselves.

The God-given natural 'design' - as He actually intended it - may be generally referred to as "fit and trim" ( male or female ) - or - a 'lean' body with muscles toned. Did He make allowance for a certain amount of departure from that 'standard'? Sure, He did. Nonetheless, that is the actual 'standard' - that is - His desire for every one of us.

Please don't anyone ask a dumb question like:

"Where is that in the Bible?"

You may find it in every place in the Bible that illustrates what God wants for us concerning our physical body.

It appears to me that Rachel is not "going against God's design" - but, rather - is, in fact, working towards being in accordance with God's design. She is, in fact, striving to be what God intended her to be.

What if the man God has for her to marry one day is not one of the men who "like women that aren't too skinny"...?

For that matter -- who said that she is striving to be "too skinny"...???

Now - if she was actually doing so - I would be the first to advise against it - because it is not healthy.

However -- as long as she does not take it too far - it is healthy -- and, I would support her 100% in doing so.

Yes - God has given her a lot of good qualities. Both inside and outside. That is for sure - there is no doubt.

But, the last two sentences in the quote above are 100% pure BS.

She is, in fact, trying to mold herself into what God absolutely 100% does intend for each of us. And, in no way is she "resisting" God by trying to do that which He intends.

Trying to improve her health and appearance will do nothing but give her more confidence and help her feel better about herself.

( Not to mention, just plain 'ole [ physically ] "feel better"... )

In my opinion, you have allowed your mind to be overtaken by the modern-day politically-correct "stupid" way of thinking -- with a touch of "Jesus-juking" thrown in...

"Reality has left the building..."

( borrowing from an Elvis reference )

Leave the girl alone. She is a sweet gal - has a great personality - and, she is doing a good thing for herself. And, while there is nothing "wrong" with her body now, there is nothing "wrong" with her trying to improve upon it - because, she has determined that she wishes to do so.

Don't tell her that it is against the will of God for her to do so!

That just may very well be the most ridiculous piece-of-crap thing I have ever seen you write into a post on CC.

It is one thing to encourage people to not let their circumstance-in-life discourage them, take away their dignity, cause them to lose sight of their place in God's plan, etc.

It is another thing altogether to tell people not to set worthy goals and / or try to improve upon themselves in healthy ways.

That is just plain dumb.

On point brother, 100%. God created us to be healthy and fit so we can perform our functions at our best. The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit we should strive to take care of it. Exercise and healthy eating is the way to do it. Wanting to look your best so you can attract someone is not wrong either. We should always strive to be the best we can be .

For me getting healthy was looking a lot worse then I had been looking.
While I was not thrilled to be looking a lot worse then before the trade off of shaking free of disease was worth it.
While I never gained all of the weight back I looked presentable.

My point is that we all have different body types, facial structures, etc. Let the body work at peak efficiency and you'll be happy and will have a interior as well as a exterior radiance that is attractive.

Didn't read all that incessant rambling. Fact is i have known Rachel on here for years. And for the past few months have been talking to her off CC as one of the people helping her through some things she's dealing with.
So I know the root of her problem, the things adding to it and why it affects her so.
So, no, not assumptions.

Also I NEVER said it was bad to get healthier. In fact, to quote my post "getting in shape for health. Good".

The facts are you are clueless to the whole story and to the things her and I have discussed and so much more. So she your clueless drivel and thinly veiled insults. For all your trash talk it's actually You that's the clueless one here.

Thank you for the reminder of why I blocked you, though.
