I hope that you don't have contact lenses you have to take out later.
Thankfully I have very good vision, needing only some cheap reading glasses at night when my eyes are tired and can't shift focus fast enough from reading print articles to looking at the computer screen. Plus, I'm so averse to eyeballs and touching eyeballs and junk, I'd never be able to manage using contact lenses. You ought to see me squirm and pout if I have to put eye drops in my eyes. I'm a total sissy about it.

So I can't sleep and decided to go on chat in the BibleStudy room. They are really funny. LOL It's kinda cool how they're completely different people from those of us on the forum. I felt like a newbie. :p

yes, I started out in the chat rooms and not the forums. I ventured over here and found a whole new group of people. I realized there are 3 kinds of people on this site: forum only people, chat only people, and the crossovers. I'm a crossover. I do both. I've seen a few of our forum Sis and Bro's in there. ;) (not many though)

I can't believe we are out of basil.
I can't believe I started a big pot of chili without checking to see if we had basil.
I can't believe I have to go all the way to the store to get basil.
I can't believe I have to get dressed to go toFIRST WORLD PROBLEMS!

Yeah, yeah, I know. Life is good.

But I can't believe we're out of basil. Feh.
Well lookie here, right here in my cupboard, in the middle of my spice rack.

What's that, I see?

Not ONE, but two--count 'em, TWO--huge, honkin' bottles of basil.

Two heavenly jars simply RUNNING OVER with basil.

Like, lots and lots of basil.

Basil coming out of my ears.

In fact, I just DON'T KNOW what to do with AAAALLLLLL this delectably fragrant, chili-enhancing basil.

And don't go lecturing me about fresh vs. dried, because we don't want to lose sight of THE most important issue here.

Some of us have basil.

And some do not. :)
Ugh, I went to look for basil to put on a plain cheese pizza that I had sliced fresh tomatoes onto, and discovered that I too was all out of basil  I searched through all my packages of herbs and spices, and finally settled on something called Provence blend, because it had basil in it among other herbs including Rosemary. I also dashed some Mrs. Dash on the pizza because, heavens to mergatroyd! I was all out of black pepper also :p

My daughter and I went shopping at Walmart on Saturday. It was our second time there... well, third if you count the fact that the first time we went, shortly after we arrived, the fire alarm started and everyone had to exit the store. We were close to the parking exit when the alarm finally stopped, so I parked the car and we returned to the store.

Any who, I asked a store assistant where I could find basil. He had no idea what I was asking about. I tried to think of some way to help him understand where it might be situated, and the only thing could think of besides saying it was a herb, was saying it might be with the onion powder. He directed me to aisle nine.

By the time I got there, he was looking through the herbs. I was pleasantly surprised to see him there, exclaiming, oh! There you are. I think he wanted to know what this elusive mysterious basil was :D He found it before I did... He pointed out to me that the package said Basil Leaf, as if perhaps had he known it was a leaf, he might have found it faster LOL

So now I have my beloved basil back, and black pepper to spare :)

What is this kind of feeling? I think some people call it happiness. Strange. How did this happen?

Next time ask him "Where are the spices?"

If he doesn't know that, ask him "Where is the aisle for baking supplies, like flour, sugar, oil..." The spices will be on that aisle, usually at one end of the aisle.

Heh, the problem is, we started in the spice aisle  But they seemed to be Asian oriented spices, although salt and pepper were also there... and there were a few herbs, but not enough to represent what would normally be present in a herb section... there were some powdered/flaked things, but mostly bottled stuff :p I found this in the same section, and bought a bottle:

Not sure what I am going to do with it LOLOLOL

Okay, that I do not comprehend. I thought Wal-Mart was like McDonald's: The same all over the world. Beans in the veggies aisle, stereo systems and computers in the electronics section, spices in the spice area. Basil, thyme, dill weed, cayenne, whatever... all in the spice shelves.

How many "spices" areas does your Wal-Mart have?

Hmmm, now I am wondering if it (Ube purple yam spread) can be used in cake baking the same way apple sauce can. For those of you who may not know it, you can eliminate any oil in a cake recipe and substitute apple sauce instead. I usually add a little more apple sauce than the amount of oil asked for. You would never know that the cake is low fat!!! I see from doing a quick online search that Ube cheesecakes are a favorite. I have not made a cheesecake for a while :D My specialty is white chocolate with raspberries on top, smothered in a melted chocolate and sour cream topping.

This pic is close except for the fact that I put the raspberries underneath the chocolate topping :)

Now I want to make a purple Ube cheesecake :D

Haha, I have no idea how many spice areas there are in Walmart :D

Herbs and spices are often together, but I seem to have started in the Asian spice aisle :D I did not notice what all else was in aisle nine. The sales assistant was further down the aisle than I was when he found the basil leaf... whereas I suppose that the spices would be in alphabetical order, though I found no Basil between "A" and "C." I will check it out a little closer next time; it was only my second time around the store, which is fairly new.

Another funny thing happened while I was there  Twice I was approached by a young Asian man asking me for directions to some certain product in the store. His English was not very good, so I had to ask him to repeat himslef each time. The firt time he was looking for a converter, which would have been electronics, and I told him I had no idea where those were. The second item I forget what he was looking for, but he did ask me where he could find a sales associate, so I sent him to the food section where I had received so much help :D

My daughter and I decided that maybe he was practicing his English. We could come up with no other explanation as to why he would approach me twice to ask for directions, since there is no way I look like a Walmart employee :D

Depending on the size of the store there can be several, one large general area, Asian area, Hispanic area, seafood area, meat area, etc.

WineRose: Did they use Vocaloid in that track? That sounds like Vocaloid Miku.
