Woke up this morning. I had a short break but I am going back to work. I was happy yesterday, but a little bit annoyed with a guest that wanted me to do their laundry. Four machines! And I am travelling myself today. And the family that wanted to take over Plato didn't anyway. And my best friend is buying a house all of a sudden. And I am writing three papers and trying to keep my deadline to the University and then, happy day, Seuolsearch came back.... And today is the 4th. No!! I forgot to send in the worksheets for my assistants. That means I have to call and beg and send them on paper.

I have too much to do. Too many things to remember. Too many obligations.

Should I quit CC? I prayed. No. I need this happy place and fellowship in my life! Only thing that can replace it is a soulmate. A fellowship here. In my local area. And that doesn't exist now. No. CC stays.

Work? I can't stop this job and I would be insane to quit a permanent job and the third job is really the job I have had for the longest time, and when everything else fails I will still have that.

AirBnb? No. That is blessed. And it is a safety thing. To have someone in my house. And it is a very efficient cure against loneliness.
Studies? No. They are a ticket to the job I really, really want.

So... Today I have to call, write the paper lists and humble myself. Soon the workload is less. I just keep on moving just a little bit longer. Hopefully they can be a bit understanding this time. But I know they will not.

Have a nice day. I'll take my medication and soon I am off to England. Life is good. But God is better.

I finally heard back from my University's Office of Responsible Research. The human-subjects portion of my research study has been approved, so now I can collect the last portion of my data and finish this seemingly never-ending project.

Not sure why I'm in such a hurry since I plan on doing nothing with the PhD once I get it, but given that I started this long process back in the fall of 2007, I think I've enjoyed too much of this good thing.

*A day consists of two 12-hour periods, for a total of 24 hours.
*An hour consists of 60 minutes.
*A minute consists of 60 seconds.

Seconds are subdivided on a decimal system into things like "hundredths of a second" or "millionths of a second."

That's a pretty bizarre way to divide a day up. We divide it in half, then divide the halves by twelfths, then divide the twelfths into sixtieths, then divide by 60 again, and then convert to a decimal system for the smallest increments. It's no wonder children have trouble learning how to tell time....Don't mind me, Sorry, just having a revelational moment with this .... Smile.

I am SO stealing this!

And according to UGT (Universal Greeting Time) it is "morning" whenever somebody enters a chatroom and "evening" whenever somebody leaves a chatroom.

Good (UGT) morning everybody!

Hold up.

They're allowing you to work with HUMAN SUBJECTS???

Do the humans actually know this???

And here this whole time, I thought you were just experimenting on goats or something.

But... You mean... They're actually going to allow you to conduct research on REAL, LIVE people?!?!

What's wrong with this picture... :p

There is a LOT wrong with the picture. LOTS.

The data I am collecting is going to be gathered through an internet-based questionnaire, and when I receive the data, I won't know who the person was that provided the data. The whole rigamaroll with the ORR was about how I would ensure confidentiality of the respondents, since I am asking questions that, if the data became public, could potentially jeopardize the careers of the people participating in my survey.

So, yes, I am working with human subjects, but not really. No face time. No direct interaction.

Don't tell anybody....
I love French toast. I make them from dry white bread, soak them in milk, sugar, egg and cinnamon. Fry them in real butter and just eat them wit plain sugar or raspberry jam. I am so hungry now... I might even sacrifice my meatloaf to the French toast.

Lose the sugar, add real vanilla extract (not the imitation vanilla flavoring) and you have a breakfast delight.

And here I was going to volunteer, because I know from my own experiences in school that finding test subjects, even just to answer a survey, can be a total bear. But if I would somehow qualify, feel free to direct me to your survey.

It sounds like the population you're targeting is in QUITE a bit more of a prestigious class than what I'm a part of though, lol.

Prestige doesn't play a role in it. More along the lines of a person participating in my little study wouldn't want their supervisor to learn that the employee thinks the supervisor is not committed to safety in the workplace, or that the supervisor is inconsistent in how they deal with people, etc. The majority of supervisors don't want to hear that stuff, and they will take retaliatory actions against employees who think they aren't good supervisors. I'm focusing on two industrial segments - University research laboratories...and Principal Investigators aren't known for being "understanding" of underlings questioning their methods or authority; and agricultural bulk goods handling facilities...and the first level workers are so high turnover that supervisors think nothing of firing people on a whim and replacing them with another warm body.

With this little part of my research, I only need to collect info from 6-10 people total. Pilot study. I just need enough data to make the conjecture that my overall hypothesis is valid and that I have properly conceptualized my research questions and the method of testing them. I think I can wrangle up the people I need.

Attention! Attention everyone! I have an important announcement.

EGGNOG SEASON is upon us! The first brand was seen on store shelves (and a carton promptly bought) tonight.

Woohoo! I have been waiting for this ever since last Christmas!

Someone, from work, hates me. Like, really really hates me. It's been 4 years and she still screams at me and I'm afraid sometimes my words provoke her (sometimes intentionally, I admit -_-) like today and she's shaking in anger when I spoke to her about a case she repeatedly messes up.

She happened to be my senior, but I got promoted before her and now I'm supposedly higher in rank when it comes to making decisions (I mean if it's just the two of us). She doesn't take my instruction and she just flat out told me "I don't care, I don't wanna know and I don't wanna talk to you."

Sigh. Some people are just too complicated for me. I give up.

To be honest, that was quite a stressful encounter. Now that I'm less tense, my stomach starts hurting. It really did affect me in some way. TBH I was afraid she would scream again. Good thing she didn't and I'm out of here soon.

Bitterness is preparing poison for your enemy... and drinking it. I must avoid being bitter at all costs. It’s just so sooo ughh... Lord help me.
