I am at the University contemplating the meaning of life.

Here I am, too old to study, yet I am seriously trying to finally get my master's degree. I have credits enough for three bachelor degrees, and it is time to grow up.

Feeling like a dinosaur I don't even try to fit in. I am the same age or older than the professors, and I am somehow feeling like a failure not having managed to do this earlier. And I feel old and tired. I am not used to write those academic papers that say nothing else than an one-liner would do on pages after pages. I like to say what I need to say, and then I am done.

Still I enjoy being here. i have tons of good memories from previous studies starting back over 25 years ago. I love the knowledge and the intellectual talk. Sometimes I listen in to young students trying so hard to be intellectual, and it amuses me. It is like another world. And what is the best, is that here I am not judged by my physical apperance or ability, but for my mind and intellect. I feel free from my body's limitations. Perhaps it reminds me of what Heaven would be like. The freedom to be who we all are created to be.

I think I can identify with you to a great extent though I am not in your situation. I am over the hill. You are still at the top now looking at the down side. You are wondering what to do with your life still, I think.

Most of my future is behind me and I am wondering what good did I do with my life and what do I do now. The most important thing in my life right now (and I think it should have been the most important thing throughout my life) is to get to know God's love for me better right now, respond to that love to Him, and then reflect that love to the world around me.

I am confident that if I do that first the rest isn't quite so important and I can trust Him to do with me as He pleases.

For what it's worth.

I've said it in another thread but this site seems to be very slow, including this thread. One thread I chose to participate derailed into heated exchanges. Makes me want to leave.

The weekends are always slow on the site, particularly in the singles forum. Even the BDF makes a noticeable slowdown on weekends. But, yes, generally speaking the site has slowed in recent times.
Singles was a lot more fun a few years back. We even had a weekly chat room chat every Fri night. Once people from the Lounge came in they started taking it over and all the forum singles regulars quit the chat and after that the whole group started dissolving.

The chat rooms get busy on the weekends, while the forums get un-busy. In fact right now the lounge (or is it The Shed now?) is jumping.. There's like 30 people in there and non-stop yapping on the mic..

I don't talk a lot in this sharing thread because there's not a lot to talk about. Few things change in my life, and they change slowly. "When there is nothing to say, don't say it."

I had homemade chili on homemade sourdough bread for breakfast today, with a thick slice of cheddar melted in between the chili and bread. That is the most exciting element of my life right now. But if I announce what I had for breakfast every day, I might as well get a twitter account. :p

I work at a fast food factory. Actually I work at the prototypical fast food factory, McDonald's itself. Yep, at my stereotyped job certain people come through the drive-thru and make snide comments like, "So, how is that liberal arts major working out for you?"

Also I'm not big on eating fast food myself. Two good reasons not to talk much about my job.

I'd just like to mention that the stock market is officially bi-polar..

That is all.

Achievement/ success/ happiness is relative. Not all of that can be counted although all forms of them have value. Life is not a race. Everything happens at our own pace so no need to feel pressure. God makes things beautiful in His time.

I can only positively identify Audrey Hepburn. Kate Middleton? Model? Spice Girl? Actress? Those were my first three thoughts, in that order.
Elle Woods? Umm... singer? Blair Waldorf. First time I read the post all I saw was Warf, made me think of Star Trek.
Are the Disney princesses actually princesses? Or do they just call them that to make them sound better?

Blair Waldorf is a character from Gossip Girl. Her fashion sense is amazing.
Kate Middleton is a real person, the Duchess of Cambridge. She is married to Prince William. Also divine fashion sense.
Elle Woods is the main character from Legally Blonde. She's just adorable.
And I think the Disney Princesses are princesses. Most of them are married to princes. :p

Perhaps that's why I'm still single. I'm not a prince, and a prince is what all the women are looking for.

Shoot, I'm not even a frog that you might get a prince out of if you kiss it.

I am not a princess. Have never been. And I wouldn't care less for a prince. I don't think a "prince" could rescue me from this situation. Only the Prince of Peace could do that.

As if I should ever end up with some man, I hope it is a man practical enough to live in this life and tribulations to come. A man that puts Christ first. A man that doesn't take himself too serious, but can laugh and joke about our shortcomings.

A woman can dream. But that kind of uber sweet fairytales... nah. That is not for me.

I met my wife through a Christian dating site. The title to my biography was:
"Wanted: Tall Christian frog kissing princess."

We've been married 18 years now. I was 43 at the time.

The advice I always give Tink, is if you are looking for happiness be careful. Happiness is elusive if you think of it as a stare you dwell in. You pick up your happiness as you trek through life. A little here a little there: Like playing with a puppy or talking to a toddler. Sometimes when meditating we need to step back and embrace our happy moments. Producing overall contentment.

Ah. That explains why I don't know any of them. I've never seen gossip girl, or legally blonde. And don't pay attention to royalty. Not to mention I'm not into fashion. My clothing style has barely changed since I was in HS.
