I'm going to follow Him, julieannie, but, I'm praying to do things that will work on getting some organization into my warehouse, storage places, that is much needed and just generally going to work on being more open to people about God, when I feel prompted to let them know of Him, which He will lead me to do. I'm sure He's led me, many times in the past, to say something to others (I've felt prompted) but just didn't do it . But, rather than guilt, and, such, I give 'that' to God and He knows my heart and I pray it is after Him in lieu of my many, many, many weaknesses and mistakes I make in my life to not serve Him as I know I could do better boldly doing. The Lord leads. This summer I want to really follow Him :) "...you follow Me." This verse says not to worry about what everyone else is doing, we are to follow Him. So, IF all your buddies are hanging out at the beach this summer, maybe, YOU are too, He will lead. I would say you would be a lot more likely able to do that IF you were producting 'fruit' as you suntanned , like telling others about Him, or just being a demonstration of 'Love' around them , as He will lead you to do :)

I'm ready to just give up. I've been trying so hard to get in shape over the last 2+ years but I've now gotten sick for the 4th time in just the last 6 months. I'm starting to wonder if I even have an immune system anymore. And when I get sick I can barely do anything let alone workout. Towards the end of last year I was running 3 miles every other day and bench pressing 185. Now I probably can't even run a mile or bench more than 130.

My son sings "I like-a like-a move it" to me...

My husband and I are both trying to eat better, and even though we both feel that 'exercise' is a 4 letter word, we're trying to incorporate a little bit into our daily lives, a little at a time, so's we don't scare ourselves off it.

Also, gardening. And moving heavy rocks that I should not be moving by myself.

Yay, exercise....?

haha!! I cut out wheat/gluten and dairy, and trying my best to stay away from artificial sugars/processed sugars. High fructose corn syrup - BAD BAD BAD for you. Artificial flavors - once again. BAD.

this wasn't so I could be healthier, though I am healthier now. I did it because I was getting terrible migraines, and so I kinda did the elimination thing. Got rid of my coffee creamer first (I would get migraines not too long after I would drink my coffee and stuff). I wouldn't get headaches in the morning. Then in the evening I had a bowl of cereal (cereal is an evening food for me, not a breakfast food. Don't ask me why.) and the headache came back. So I was able to say that it was artificial stuff that was triggering my misery.

I'm starting to exercise about 20 minutes a day. I haven't done that today, and I didn't yesterday. But I have been fairly consistent with it.

What lifestyle choices do I need to make?

I generally spend a lot of time at the gym,
but I'm thinking more naps and greasy food would make me much happier.

I miss swimming. Then again, when the ex & I owned our home we had an huge in ground pool we barely used because in Maine the weather only allows swimming maybe 2 months of the year...and man... I think I spent more time cleaning the darn thing than getting to enjoy it. I like swimming because it makes me feel thin for once. lol & I can't shake my buns underwater unhindered by judgmental eyes of non- never nudes that just don't get me or my people.

Don't give up, brother! You can do it! :)

Pray earnestly for it. Pray for inspiration and motivation, not just sheer will power. Let GOD enable you to do it.

I was very big at the start of this year. The biggest i've ever been. 82kg. At 5'2", that makes my BMI 33, classified as Obese I. I got there 'coz i struggled with depressed and emotional eating. My right knee hurt like hell, and my heart really worked hard in short bursts of activity, like climbing a flight of stairs. Plus i've run out of clothes that fit me well. And i was very unhappy with my appearance. So i prayed and prayed for it, really wanting to be fit. To have the best version of me. To glorify GOD. I viewed my body as a gift from GOD, something that i should take care of as a good steward of HIS blessing.

That did it. :) GOD is truly the best motivator, and not the worldly goals i used to have (become sexy, hot, attractive, etc...)

I am now so motivated to achieve my target weight. I'm no longer a soda goer (i occasionally drink them now, in very small amounts, sipping them like wine. They make me hyperacidic now that i've gotten used to not drinking them.), and i watch my portion intake. Half or quarter rice only, focusing on greens and protein. Drinking plenty of water, and taking fruits as snack. Avoiding junk food and processed food. I still eat the occasional pizza, burgers, fries, ice cream and desserts, but i watch the amount and frequency. I no longer eat like there's no tomorrow XD.

Plus i do Insanity workouts by Shaun T (they are super tough, but super rewarding. In just 3 consecutive days of doing recovery period training which is started out with, since it's the intensity level that my body could take at present, my thighs already showed definition. It's amazing! You really have to push through.)

Now, i'm 67.4kg. Just 15kg more, and i'm set :D i feel great and light, satisfied with what i eat, and i look better in my clothes. And my folks are really seeing the change, and are so happy for me. Most of all, i feel more confident in our LORD, coz i have seen HIM enable me to do this. If HE has done it for me, HE will most certainly do it for you. Just trust in HIM to motivate you and inspire you and enable you :)

Ephesians 3:20-21

King James Version (KJV)

[SUP]20 [/SUP]Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
[SUP]21 [/SUP]Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

I will pray for you strongly, dear brother in Christ!
:) GOD bless you on your journey to fitness, and a deeper and stronger relationship and faith in our awesome and wonderful GOD!!

Amen, sister. I work out every morning, and I get lots of fruits and veggies from the blender. The healthy diet and exercise keeps me energized physically, and studying scripture keeps me edified spiritually.

Bro, I'm 64, and I work out every morning. If I can do it, you can. You need to quit doing stuff that is breaking you down, and start doing stuff that makes you healthier. Quit smoking and drinking. Quit eating processed food and food cooked with hydrogenated oil. Get a blender and put a bunch of fruits and veggies in it to drink. Try doing a lot of stretching and some strengthening simply by using your own body weight and gravity. You don't need any mechanical equipment or even weights. I don't go to a gym. I just learned a bunch of good stretching techniques from Kung Fu which are based on Yoga. I don't practice Yoga because I'm not into Hinduism, but I'm telling you stretching will optimize the energy flow in your body. You will feel better, be stronger and more flexible, and your immune system will improve too. I haven't been sick or to a doctor in years. I haven't had health insurance since I retired. Don't think about it. Just do it. Start today, and take it slow. You can find good stretching techniques online. It's good to warm up first by doing some jumping jacks and running in place. Don't overstretch, and always remember to breathe relaxed from your lower abdomen. You will find that you start feeling better pretty quickly. I quit drinking coffee because my morning exercise jazzes me plenty. You've got to take care of yourself, bro.

My amount of time exercising doesn't change a whole lot from non-summer to summer, although I may occasionally alter my routine. Most of the time, I do pure strength training only, but just last week I shifted my upper body routine to higher-rep/lower-weight circuit training (same exercises, though) just to change it up. I don't think I'm going to do that with lower body, because I've seen some pretty solid gains in overall strength, and I don't want to stop that progress.

As far as nutrition goes, I'm looking at going ketogenic for the summer to see what it does. I've given up carbs before, and it's not easy for a rice lover like me, but I can do it...the real kicker is giving up milk. That's going to be VERY difficult. I know soy milk works as a substitute, but it's just so much more expensive and has less meat to it. Part of me wants to just jump in and try it starting next week, but I'll be travelling to the Seattle/Tacoma area for the first time the week after, then visiting family in DFW the week after that. I don't want to be the party pooper that keeps saying, "No, I can't eat anything at THAT restaurant, sorry!" Plus, whenever I visit my brother, every other meal is Thai food. Carbless Thai food falls into the same category as Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, unfortunately.

Plus, going carbless makes me grouchy for a few days. Better to do that during the summer when I'm not dealing with the kiddos. Keto is supposed to really pack a wallop, so I might even get grouchy here. Be ready to knock me back into line!

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't smoke or drink alcohol or coffee and I only drink diet soda (no sugar) and water. If I can just stop getting sick I'd be able to get in shape. I'd done it before several years ago by running, lifting weights and dieting. These past couple of years have been difficult because I tore ligaments in both of my knees and wasn't able to do any kind of exercise involving legs for a long time. Even swimming was too painful. I had slowly begun building up my strength and endurance again and I was doing that when I got sick last November and its been on and off since then. I'm taking some natural supplements now that's supposed to keep me from getting sick so hopefully they will work. I actually got sick this last time when I forgot to take them for a few days and I woke up coughing one cold night.

I really appreciate the prayers and congrats on your weight loss, AzureAfire. I also aim to workout everyday Tom, and I admire your dedication. AzureAfire, I actually do want to get in shape to better serve God and not just because I want to look good. I believe God meant for us to be strong and healthy. Being fit is also good for the mind and the spirit. It keeps the mind sharp and the spirit strong. I understand what you said about stretching Tom, but I really can't do much at all due to my ligament injuries. AzureAfire, I actually know a lot about nutrition and trying to eat right has always been my biggest obstacle, and I know the saying among nutritionists that goes "you can't exercise your way out of a bad diet", but I will keep trying. :)
