Was initially wondering where to start this thread and decided on here as Paul said, being single is awesome cos that time of your life allows you to focus on God as the love of you life not someone else.
Another topic Paul was really big on was spiritual gifts and he said that this is not for our own self improvement or vanity or whatever but for the edification of the church (serving). So as singles are we focusing on asking God to make his gifts to us clearer so we can use them to help others?
Personally, Ive found since becomming single that I've grown in authority over my gifts which are prophesy (through dreams/visions/word of knowledge) and compassion. And in turn discovering my own style of ministering which I am so thoroughly enjoying.

Has anyone else started this journey?

Are you a Christian?
Just wondering. Most of your comments are either negative, sarcastic or non Biblical.
None of which is Christian like.
Your comments never seem to lift others up as we are commanded to do and in most
cases as is the case now, demean the posts of others.

No one alive today has the gift of prophecy, nor healing, nor speaking in tounges. Focus on the Word of God that comes from His mouth. Paul has alot of good ideas/interpretations but when Paul speaks, it is not the same as God or Jesus speaking. Matthew 4:4 "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." (KJV)

I like Ur style sweetheart728

Be strong in the face deception. I see darkness over the horizon & the NAU (North American Union) is just the beginning.

Since beginning my journey (quest for truth) on 9/11/'01, I'v come to know God better than I ever thought possible, & have also acquired the gifts of prophecy & compassion along the way, plus knowledge, wisdom, & understanding of The Truth that is Love.
P.S.
not that I'm any womans type... lol... (sigh)... but do I have to be single? I Love God more than anything, I have an HONEST work ethic, I'm undecided about my goals in life... but I make up for it in integrity. I'm strong but sensitive, & in need of companionship. I'm 5'10, slim athletic (180lbs), very short hair, dark brown eyes, deep voice, big thinker, a dreamer of sorts, very young at heart (to point of being naive), chocolate skin, & yes... very different from most people U will meet in this world. I can actually relate to the apostle Peter - ALWAYS down for the cause, even when I'm slippin.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME....
Have you never seen proof of these gifts?!! Come to my church in New Zealand and you'll see them alright.
Spiritual gifts are used in credance with spiritual warfare, and those who ignore the threat of Satan and dont do anything about it by learning and growing in their gifts are in a way disobeying God. Its like getting the best present ever and giving it back just because its hard, or I cant be bothered or it wont work... Its insulting..

I need to calm down from such an absurd statement...

I am starting on that Journey... bt barely making it.. I love God and am doing his work... bt i feel i need to spend more time with Him... Sometimes when you do a lot of things you forget to spend time with the one you love although you are doing all the things that you are doing for that One.. :D a bit confusing i know..

I do have the gift of Tongues and I have received the gift of healing... bt then i... don't.. know...

something still seems a miss and i am nto able to point out where it is:eek:

keep on going with your spiritual gifts, like the apostle said retain what is good and what is not,do not pay attention to it.those who do not believe in spiritual gifts they do have problems, because we know we are not move for what we see but by faith and we believe in God who never changes he always is going to be the same.i know that prophecy in some way Paul said it is the best gift for the edification of the church,as long your prophecy is the truth of God and not what it is for your convenience.by the way those who make fun of the gifts of God are going to be punished because God is no joke.

I apologize if what I said upset you, I didn't mean it like that.
When it comes to prophecy...I'm not saying that God doesn't communicate which each believer in only a way that they can understand; I also recognize His great love for us and His ability to understand us and communicate with us like no one else we know can.
I think the miscommunication here lies in how each of us defines prophecy. To me a prophet is someone who Gods talks to with the express purpose of revealing His much bigger plan of salvation for all mankind; not merely just His dealings with us on an "every day basis". Which is not to minimize in any way the special and awesome way He communicates with each of us.
It's a matter of how you define prophecy and how I define it which we now know is different, so thank you for writing back and expressing your feedback and I apologize once again for any offense.

Im not talking at all about prophets. Im talking about prophesy... Confirming God given words of knowledge for edification of the church. My authority in this gift is baby sized because its only been in the making for a few years, and no matter how good I get I dont think I will ever be arrogant enough to call myself a prophet. Prophet is noun, prophesy is verb. Yes the two came together very well for Jeremiah, Isaiah, Malachi etc etc. But today their treated as seperate. The only people Ive heard of stupid enough to call themselves prophets have been ignorant cult leaders.

So anyway!
Anyone else working on their spirtual gifts?

I have to say the sarcasim remark made me laugh which is a good thing. I don't think anyone should be calling anyone else stupid cause we don't know what gifts God has given anyone else. Gifts are wonderful and being humble is also wonderful. Being a little more calm so as not to seem like your jumping on one is a gift also. God bless you all.

So here we have the view that the sign gifts have passed away.

I know this promotes a strong gut reaction in alot of Christians.. but consider scripture.. just put your emotions to the side a little.. or at least simmer down :)

SO

1 Corinthians 13 and Ephesians 4.. both have points at which sign and ministry gifts cease. It isn't a matter of if they will cease.. but only WHEN.

OKAY SO

1 Corinthians 13 points to a time when the supernatural gifts of knowledge, prophecy and tongues will be done away with by something coming to perfection.. maturity or completeness.

What is this something?

1. It is referred to as a thing.. an object.. 'that' or the perfect 'thing'.. an inanimate object
2. It completes the purpose of prophecy and tongues and knowledge
3. After the point that these cease.. faith hope and love remain.
4. It allows people to be able to have a clear reflection of themselves
5. It is something that is in part.. that becomes whole.

Now.. none of these point meshes well with the second coming of Christ

Jesus in not an object or thing.. He is a real being an 'it' if you will
If it were the second coming there would be no need for faith hope and love.. because all saved would be perfected in heaven.
Jesus was never in part.. this is about something that is in part that becomes whole.

So what does mesh well with this? The Word of God.. complete.. matured.. fulfills the purposes of prophecy, tongues and knowledge gifts to speak forth God's Word. After the point that the bible is complete, faith hope and love remain. It does allow people to see a complete reflection of themselves.. it was in part in terms of not all the books were written.. but is now complete.. as the canon of scripture.

SO

Epheisans 4

(Eph 4:11) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

(Eph 4:12) For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

(Eph 4:13) Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

(Eph 4:14) That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

(Eph 4:15) But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

unity of the faith
knowledge of the Son of God
a measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ
relating to doctrine
allowing to speak the truth

Well ummm what does this sound like? Hmmm.. oh yes.. the Word of God!

IF the WORD OF GOD is complete, WHY ARE OUR CHRISTIAN BOOKSTORES SO FULL of books?

You NEED two things : THE WORD , and POWER.

POWER comes by the HOLY SPIRIT using the GIFTS through you the VESSEL.

IF the WORD OF GOD is complete, WHY ARE OUR CHRISTIAN BOOKSTORES SO FULL of books?

You NEED two things : THE WORD , and POWER.

POWER comes by the HOLY SPIRIT using the GIFTS through you the VESSEL.

The way God talks to each christian is personal guidance that you can see coming through books written by people about how that guidance works. God will reveal His will for people ithe ndividually..

but this will is always completely consistent and dependent on scripture. God will never add to the bible.. and we can't add to it. If we apply what is in it to our lives.. that is how God speaks to us. Through the application.

The Holy Spirit is God.. and His power comes through applying the Word of God to your life aswell.

believing sign and ministry gifts have passed away isn't denying the work or power of the Holy Spiirt.. it is honouring the Holy Spirit's way of dealing with christians through the ages using different covenants and different times.

For example.. we don't sacrifice bulls anymore because of Jesus one atoning sacrifice for all. It is something that was in the past that has passed away.

There was a worldwide flood with Noah.. God promised never to do that again. Manifested by the rainbow showing that promise.

The Holy Spirit annointed kings in the Old Testament, giving them power in leadership.. but that I think has passed away.

The Holy Spirit- is God.. is personal and convicts, rebukes, teaches, dwells in amongst an assembly as the comforter, seals a person for eternity who entrusts their salvation with Him, guides each person in their day to day walk etc..

so the only thing I am saying the Holy Spirit doesn't do.. is still supernaturally give gifts to men to speak His Word.. seeing as His Word is complete.

This isn't denying the Holy Spirit, it is honouring the way He has dealt with men in different ways over history.
