I wonder if this is a campaign from Barnes and Nobles to increase sales.

I think, kilden4J makes an excellent, bold point for guys everywhere.
And, this could be for anything, really.

Might be kind of awkward but why not go to a grocery store and buy something from a girl you like who is checker. Then, just casually talk to her, find out what she likes, somehow, the Lord leads, but FIND OUT !

Then, go back through the line that day, or, another day soonafter, and, buy it and then LEAVE it for her .

Then come back to the grocery store, preferably that same day, through her aisle and ask her out.

I LIKE this idea. Risky risque but, oh well, who ever said asking a girl out wasn't all of that, and, more, that is, from the guy's perspective I speak.

Now, I'm just waiting for zaoofmen to stop by and say, 'if i could ever meet a girl i liked who is a checker.' :D

I'm just kidding around, of coures, but, you bet you can find a girl in a bookstore, a lot of tiimes even , they will give you a clue of what kind of girl they are by being in the section of some interest of hers which could be yours, maybe, even, gasp!, Christian section :)

Oh my goodness, what a fabulous idea!!

One Christmas, the guy I was seeing bought me something like 4 paperback books from an author I loved (Dean Koontz, at the time) and I was totally swooning. Definitely one of the best gifts ever...

Now I'm wondering if I'd ever be bold enough to strike up a conversation with a guy at a bookstore and at least offer to buy him a scone at the coffee stand...

This is brilliant! Books are way better than drinks. I love reading and it'd be awesome if a guy could strike up a conversation about a book, especially if it was C.S. Lewis, Ted Dekker, Sproul, or something deep-ish like that.

Not to derail, but am I the only one who smells books? Not really in the store...just...in general. New books smell awesome and so do old books.

ETA: Jullianna, we posted at the same time and you said something about the smell of books! Now I know I'm not alone. :D

Jullianna and Rachel:

You are right, I was just fooling around... I don't have a kindle and don't like reading nearly as much when it's on a screen.

And yes I do frequently smell books... they all smell different! :)

Usually I love your advice Green, but this just looks like jail time to me. I definitely wouldn't get out of produce with less than a restraining order and don't want to even talk about dairy.

My money's on the book snorters. I'm spicing up The Notebook with Stetson as we speak! Wish me luck.

Note to guys: This would probably also work in a chocolate store.

Not bad. Not bad at all. Girls who read books (as long as they're not Twilight, 50 Shades of Grey) are very attractive.

FTFY. :D

I don't think I could ever ask anyone out from a bookstore. I get quite bored with books, and then she would have the impression that I liked books. o_O
