Our faith begins with what Jesus did for us.
We begin with realizing Jesus is doing ALL of the heavy lifting, and not so heavy lifting.

This walk begins with us entering the door, only because of Jesus.
Our eyes look across the horizon, wide open, taking in the landscape.

Refreshed, renewed, born again, based on nothing we have done.

As our eyes take in everything involved in this new faith walk...
We notice that doing stuff is part of it.
Yes good works.
Repentance.
Growth in righteousness.
Sanctification.
And even more!

This seems to be a transition point of sorts for many.
A dangerous transition point.

A dangerous point where we can misplace our emphasis.

What began as something relying totally on Jesus, can transition into something that becomes more and more about us, and what we do. An exchange in emphasis occurs.

We begin to say, "I did this. I did that. Look at what I'm doing."
Our language becomes one of, "I must do this. I must do that."

Know what?
There are things that result from our faith.
There are things we must do.

Those things are not the emphasis.
The doer, is not the center.

THE DOER who got us in, should still be the focus.
THE DOER, should still be the emphasis.

We must remember that we can only do, because HE already DID.

So when you gaze across the landscape of your faith, observing all of those things that must be done, realize they can only be done, because of what HE DID!

Don't allow the doer, to get the emphasis.
THE DOER must still get all of the credit and the emphasis.

i do...i do..i do...
Only happens because of what HE DID.

When I stand before Christ, the only thing I am going to trust in is Him dying on the cross.
i don't even want to be aware of anything I ever did in this life. If I do a Christian deed, it is as good as if I never did it.

Changing the emphasis changes it's purpose.

Even if you're the one taking the action, you are taking the action as a sign of your faith (James), not your salvation...and your faith is in God.

"Wow. What a blessing. Who did this?"
*smile* "God did it."

"Look at what I did!"...? Nope. "Look at what God has done!"
"Uh, didn't YOU do this, dude?"
*sigh* "Look at what God has done through me." :p

When we get into this 'DOER' mindset as singles, that is, that God is the one who does things through our work (remember, we are His "workmanship" Eph. 2:10) as shobro said aptly, then, we can understand others better in our lives and God can be easier working on us to work toward a relationship (with opposite sex) that could be longlasting on Earth for us :)

The Lord leads. But, He, indeed, wants us to work, and, in so doing, wants us to lean on Him and acknowledge His direction for us of His work for us to DO :)

Or, hey, if a relationship is not in His 'cards' for you, so be it, then, instead, you just get to become closer and closer to your Employer :) Which will pay temporal dividends in the here and now of our lives, not to mention, eternal ones, and, don't forget that inheritance either coming for your hard work after Him doing. :)

The Lord leads. But, He, indeed, wants us to work, and, in so doing, wants us to lean on Him and acknowledge His direction for us of His work for us to DO :)

We cannot earn our salvation. To entertain such a thought is to cheapen the loving sacrifice of Christ.

We cannot lead anyone to Christ on our own. We cannot offer strange fire before the Lord. Our works are to be born of loving obedience and the desire for Him to use us to reveal His glory, His will, His plans and His Kingdom as the Holy Spirit leads us.

Only the things that are of Him will last. All else will be consumed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Leviticus 10:1-3
King James Version (KJV)
10 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the Lord, which he commanded them not.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]And there went out fire from the Lord, and devoured them, and they died before the Lord.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the Lord spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.
The first verse that comes to my mind after reading this is: We love Him because He loves us FIRST!!
You know this meditation on the word Guidance?
It's God You and I Dance!..... :eek:
I am not exactly sure what's being said here but, yes, God is our guide, IloveyouLord. :)
The Lord leads . He is THE LORD of ALL our 'dances.' Let Him lead, otherwise toes will get stepped on and those toes will be YOUR OWN. :(
And, note, with God, He can step on your toes, too, the pain will be there. But it's a different kind of pain a healthy pain, a disciplinary pain, if you will.
However, note this, Satan, if we don't let the Lord lead, will 'step in,' and, that fella will start out to get you thinking, even, smiling, as he dances with you, whisper, whisper, whisper.
And, as that finely-speaking, red-faced, horned, goat-looking shrouded fellow speaks more to you (oh, it's just a costume! Remember, this is a masquerade ball you're dancing in ;) ) , he will start to step on your toes. And, you will feel the pain but differently than as God's discipline. It will be a gradual pain, just LIKE that frog in boiling water example where the frog is cool with the cool water in the pan as he swims around in the big pot on the stove and then the heat gets slowly turned up until that frog is DEAD and doesn't even realize that death has come until the point of it just about coming :(
So, yes, DO dance with the Lord leading the dance. And, if you want to dance on your own, KNOW the perils of that choice won't WORK out well for you as Satan is SMARTER than you, human, are. And that snake will, oh so stealthilly, sneak into your thoughts, your desires, your 'dance.' And, he will step on your toes slowly, at first, while leading you, as you think you are leading, even! And, then more and more, as you laugh and laugh, at his whisperings into your ear, dancing, dancing, until your feet hurt so badly that you can't walk, let alone, dance anymore. :(
God will guide us to LIFE! while Satan will surely--just like Adam and Eve--lead us to what looks like a life better even than the one God's promised that will end in death if we do not wrest our sore, crippled legs (and toes) from his clutches and run back--no longer being prodigally--to Him , the DOER of our lives, the GIVER, too, of our existences, to our life, to our LIFE!, to our life after our Earthly death, too.
What I meant by the meditation on the word Guidance is a beautiful scenery of me and God in a ballroom dance on a beautiful tune and I'm letting my God to lead the dance so we would both enjoy it and enjoy the nice music.
Loved your analogies :eek:
This is one of my favorite songs to show praise to my God when its sung in church, I really love the words. Love, love, love Matt Redman's worshipful singing, bananaanapie, a definite favorite of mine in every way, shape, and, form, it does my spirit much good, His in me working as these words are soak in 10,000 ways (or more) into my soul each time I hear them sung. :)
He and Chris Tomlin really sing songs to my soul , 'course 'How Great Thou Art' does things too inside me singing out loud too Praise The Lord ! :)
The Lord leads :)
