Darn it...publisher's Clearing house...never mind
Don't keep us in suspense, Midnite...

Did you really win $7000 a week for the rest of your life and if so, what are you going to do with it???? *wrings hands in suspense*

(*sings* "Next thing you know, Ol' Mid's a millionaire... Kinfolk said, "Mid, move away from there!" Said, "California is the place you oughtta be... So he gathered up his stuff and he moved to Beverly... Swimmin' pools... movie stars..." right next to the cee-ment pond. :))

haha Kim,
I retain my rights and waive the benefits.
They can keep their mulah.
I Already live in Calif.
If I won the Lotto though part of it I'd start an outreach counseling shelter to help broken families get back on the right track with God to keep them together.

The other part would be good to go toward mining our own natural resources to stimulate our economy with something to back our paper instead of relying on other countries.
But God has other plans for me at this point in time.

There is a reason I stay out of the Bible discussion forum. It has something to do with this thread, hubris, understanding and intellectualism.

Some people only like having fun, keeping it simple, keeping it light and not everyone is equipped for that or satisfied with its results. We are all wired differently.

If I'm talking to someone about something we are both passionate about, the language changes and we may use words people are less than familiar with. But much like jump rope, to get into the conversation, you have to understand what is going on.

Relationships can be a lot like jump rope too, there has to be a mutual understanding of what is important and if someone doesn't share the same feelings about how its played one or both of you are going to have a bad time. If you are running into a wall of people who don't share your values intellectually or otherwise, sometimes its best not to try to meet them in the middle, but simply let them go their own way. We are all wired differently.

Not everyone is compatible but, compatibility does not necessarily rely on same-ness. Finding someone who values what you like about yourself and in whom you can value their strengths is the key. They might be smarter, more responsible, more compassionate, or more outgoing but, its only when they seek to hold that against you that it becomes a problem. And we are all wired differently.

EDIT: of* to or*

I enjoy the rough and tumble of a good debate, but the op is absolutely right that things often go too far and get personal, or just outright rude.
I'm guilty of it myself.

On the Bible Forum, sometimes the temper flares and superiority complexes are just a mask for spiritual insecurity. The most aggressive people are usually the ones who are clinging to fringe beliefs out of pride (thinking that they have found a piece of truth that no one else has).

It is a form of spiritual overcompensation.

I was being open, honest, and unreservedly direct in dealing with an unpalatable matter.

Frank | Define Frank at Dictionary.com

Certainly I can understand how that can appear to be combative; however, in order for it to actually be combative it needs to fit the definition of combative. As you can see, I never actually disposed my post as a prelude to eager fighting. I just stated my opinion frankly and disengaged.

And it's perfectly OK with me if you disagree though I reserve the right to defend my position and engage in open debate and argumentation. Lol. ;)

Lolol.

I was surprised you wrote what you did above however, it really came across combative.

Although I appreciate your plans for what you would do with the money, where is playing the lottery backed up in the Bible? My understanding is it is a form of gambling.

Just wondering your beliefs on that...

Midnite has demonstrated several times on this site throughout a prolonged period of time that he is a fellow Christian of steady faith.

He was joking when he made that post. And, he was talking about winning one of those Publisher's Clearinghouse Sweepstakes that seem to enter you into your contest whether you want to participate or not (just like the IRS, they always manage to find you and send you something.)

You'll see a lot of that here, kidding around and so forth... :) We're a pretty jolly bunch, amidst all the debating. :)

Thank you Kim that was sweet of you. You're pretty good there on your assessment between the PCH and IRS in soliciting ones compliance without consent. ;)

HisBeloved you also have a legitimate question.
Have you ever went fishing? If so you paid money and gambled that you'd catch a fish.

show me the word gamble in the bible and I'll be happy to share a myriad of my thoughts with you.
And when I'm finished, I'll also show you a man that went fishing and pulled a gold coin out of a fishes mouth.

If I got what you said correctly, the people who were once looked down on for being nerdy and in turn are the people who try putting others down once they expose this towards everyone, it seems more like a domino effect that they've had based on how they were viewed in the past. Sure, nerds can go a long way with their life and I think some strive to do so because they want to be proven wrong on how much they've been shunned on. We're also taught to believe the people who aren't quite fitting in and yet doing 'the right things for their future' will in turn win. Not always the case for one. Since we're told this and they probably believe it, they take it to their advantage to have their turn to go and judge other people due to the deep resentment they have on the people who have put them down. In the end, the people who do try knocking others down are wanting to gain something out of it to feel they can be brought up more.

This doesn't have to be on the intellectual and bad boy level either, it varies from something that started to be good or something that starts from something really bad and how that person takes it. It's something to do with psychology and how humans function and react to the things they've been with and many probably don't realize they're doing it. Now just to make this clear, I'm only just going with what's written here and taking in conclusions as to how people get this way. I'm no means trying to sound intellectual or whatever. :p I was lucky to even understand what the original poster even wrote. LOL!

Just to conclude that I think there's reasons why people act the way that they do. Revenge, trying to prove a point or just a mixture of anything that makes the person decide as to how they become. If people make you uncomfortable for any reason then best thing to do is to just not associate with them.
