Just kidding. What few weird skills/talents I have either aren't that weird or just aren't that productive.

(And they don't make me a nightmare for other people...unless someone's nightmare is someone who fairly accurately mimics sounds that they hear)

I can do that too! Mimic sounds! Thanks Rachesedge, I was really struggling with this question. I was thinking I didn't have any skills and feeling pretty down then you saved my life. I can imitate all kinds of characters! Every time I charge up Daffy or Pepe or Yosemite or Elmer or Buggs or, or,...President Clinton, I really get into character completely. It's actually pretty hard to get out of Daffy and it can go on for days and then there was that time they sent me to ......never mind. Anyway, sometimes, all of a sudden like, I can imitate a voice I never knew I could! Not too long ago it was Agent Smith of the Matrix, before that it was Billy Bob Thornton when he was in Slingblade ..alright den, uh huh...then there was that ruthless Irish guy in Open Range with Robert Duvall and Kevin Costner "ya kin take yer fir legged girlfriend outta me town, openranger, dats what ye can do". Or in Tombstone "you tell em I'm coming, ya hear? And hell's coming with me! Hell's coming with me!!". Clint Eastwood when he was in Unforgiven when that kid sidekick says "well, he had it coming" and Clint says "we all got it coming kid." - I say that at the most inopportune times - funerals and such, but I sound just like Clint "we all got it coming, kid" (isn't that profound?).

Boy, this is quite the relief...I have skills...."whadadya gonna do" (that was Anthony Soprano just then) thanks Rachelsedge for saving my life.

I can sleep like a champ. If there were an Olympic event for sleeping, I would be the running gold medalist for the last 8 Olympics.

I'm also a pro when it comes to breathing. Most of the time, I do it expertly with absolutely zero mental effort whatsoever. When I do put mental effort into my breathing, watch out, world. (This may or may not be a joke.)

Do you have any skills or abilities you have learnt that are slightly quirky or odd? Maybe unexpected? Is there a heart felt story behind how you came to learn this skill and who was involved? Is it a fond memory, or one you would rather soon be forgotten?

So, I'll go first...

When I was young, we didn't have many toys so my brother and I would find creative ways to muse ourselves. It was during one particular school holiday when I was about seven years old, I was watching my dad build or fix something using a variety of tools from hammers to power tools. I was intrigued and asked if I could use them too. For two days, my dad taught me how to use the hammer, saw and cordless drill with his careful instruction (and probably a lot of barking about how I was doing it wrong). But he made sure that I knew how to use these things well then left me to my own devices. I had so much fun exploring ways to use these things and was eventually building things like slanted kids size seats and things.

When ever a fence was built, cement was paved, house needed to be painted, trees chopped down, even as a little girl, my father involved myself and my brother and gave us quite some responsibility in the process. He always instructed us on how to do it right to the point he felt it was safe to walk away for a little break (maybe that's why he taught us!).

Now, at work, if hooks need to go in the wall or something needs to be nailed in, I usually volunteer before they call in the handy man since I feel quite at home with a drill or hammer in my hand.

So, after that long walk down memory lane, what's your story?
my Heavenly Father is molding me better than my earthly parents, and i am going to Return to Him one day.

I have a nice little collection of quirky and odd skills that I may or may not ever need to use again.

-I taught myself how to root rose cuttings, and had a mist propagation system built out of a weird collection of household items that I could use to get a very nice root system established on a green cutting in as little as 10 days. Had hundreds of little roses potted in my back yard, years ago.

-I know how to milk a dairygoat, band a goat, birth a goat, trim goat hooves, give a goat injections, clip a goat for show, register and show a goat. Yep... never gonna need any of that. :p

-I know how to make a fishing net. (My grandfather was a professional fisherman in the Mississippi back in the day. He made his own nets.)

-I know how to apply henna, face paint, or glitter tattoos. That actually is a useful and relevant skill for me, but ya know. It's a little odd.
Sounds like you could make some income as a cosmetologist...

So sou like glitter tattoos; do you also think some real tattoos are tasteful, especially faith based ones?

Blessings.

I can move my ears. Not like Alfalfa in Little Rascals, but you can see them move without me touching them (I think I developed this hability because I've been wearing glasses since 8th grade and sometimes they slide from my nose).

I'm also very creative. VERY VERY CREATIVE. Sometimes I feel creativity it's like an engine inside of me and I need to relieve the pressure it's trapped inside of my in any way.
It might not be an odd skill, but the way it behaves inside of me it's kind of weird.

Gosh, Arlene. That's brilliant! I'm not a handy man but I'm willing to learn. :)

Some unusual skills about me. I can sew and crochet. I can also play the penny whistle and the fife. And I play the viola. (Much different from the violin, which I also play.) Like Arlene, I'm ambidextrous. I favor the left side for sports, but right for writing. I use to be able to make a basket when look at the basket, with my body facing away from the basket. The trouble making kids tend to like me. Not sure why, unless it's cause I'm just weird. I'm also pretty much the "tech on call" for my family, and now apparently my family's friends as well as the teachers I work with. I also can read and print upside down. Although, my printing is not always legible. But for the most part it is. So that's pretty much some unusual or quirky, or just plain different stuff about me.
