1. What movie deserves a sequel? Hmm.... I would have to agree with the person who said Top Gun.... One of my all time favorites.

2. What one toy would you like to throw repeatedly at a brick wall? One of those squishy slimy figures that used to come in the vending machine eggs and would stick to walls, ceilings, etc. I am easily entertained.

3. What is one thing you always wanted as a kid, but never got? I don't really remember. I'm sure there were lots of things throughout the years but nothing that mattered enough to stick with me.

4. Where do you not mind waiting? Anywhere I have a good book along to read.

5. What is your most impressive car repair skill? I am very good at reading and interpreting instructions. The most advanced thing I've done is change out headlights but I was impressed with myself for that because the guys were standing around for an hour messing around with this and that and I Google the instructions and then did it myself in 5 minutes.

New Summertime Questions:

1) Did you have any traditions as a kid that you use in your life now?
Not really? I mean, we were outside All. The. Time. and we did lots of camping (the tent kind, not in RVs unless we were with our grandparents). Lots of hiking. Lots of swimming.

I'm still outside all the time during summer, but it's hard to do the camping/hiking thing with my kids yet. I did inherit from my mom's family a love for gardening (which I used to help my mom do), so I guess that's sort of a tradition I keep up with.

2) Have a favorite summertime memory?
From the time I was seven, until I was 13 or so, I spent every single summer afternoon at the public pool. It consisted of two pools- a wave pool and one for swimming laps/diving. Didn't matter if I was with friends or alone, swimming was the only thing I wanted to do.

3) Do you water ski, how good are you?
Never tried it...I'm more a white water rafting type, if I'm going to be on the water and not in it.

4) What summertime memory would you like to live again?
Pretty much any from my childhood...camping, swimming, getting lost hiking because my step-dad "knew" exactly where we were...summer stopped being quite as much fun when I started caring too much what people thought of me.

5) Do you spend time in the sun or out of it?
Both! But I get heat sick pretty easily as an adult, so I limit the sun time. Plus I burn spectacularly. And then I tan. But the burn...!

One little guy scurried up to the top of the tree and started to pee on us....we all ran for the car....lol

1. What is included in your "must have" music for a road trip?
I like a good mix of classical instrumental and classic rock. I absolutely must hear Bob Segar's "I Love to Watch her Strut."
2. What is the best or strangest thing you have eaten while on vacation?
Probably sea turtle while in the Cayman Islands.
3. When vacationing, do you mail postcards to people back home or get them a gift from your travels?
Generally not, unless it's requested. While stationed in Guantanamo - before a lot of creature comforts were added to the base, I bought a pizza for a buddy just before my return flight. We didn't have access to a lot of those things we take for granted in the States.
On another occasion, I once brought California beach sand to a friend who requested that I do so, explaining that she had been stationed in Texas too long.
4. How long is the ideal vacation?
Anything over a week and I get antsy and want to go back to my real life. This is only when visiting within the continental United States, though. If I were traveling farther and needed to adjust for jet lag, I would probably want to stay longer.
5. Share a "Vacation Disaster" story...
Well, I've already shared a couple times here that I accidentally took my kids to a nude beach...oops! I guess I'll mention my first visit to Disneyland as a kid of about seven or eight. My brother had a medical condition and he required treatment - my parents always carried his medicine with them. Instead of going to one of the health stations like normal people would, we ducked into one of the closed off areas. Someone saw us and reported us to the security, and soon a guard came by just as my mom was about to inject the medicine. Everything was cool - they showed all the Medic-alert stuff. He stayed with us until the medicine was administered and walked us back to the park. But our first Disneyland trip became a story about how we got caught shooting up in Fantasyland.

1) A good audiobook or 2 or 3 if it's going to be a really long trip. Full musical soundtracks can also be good because you can kill a couple hours reliving the whole story in your mind.

2) Well, I don't know if it can be considered vacation but in my travels I've eaten eel, duck blood soup (didn't know it at the time, it was one of those all the local friends who are taking you out just put stuff in your bowl for you to eat), half developed quail egg, oh and watched some Africans club a goat to death to cook it on the campfire and the first part they served us was the intestine. No insects yet, but if I'm not careful that will happen sooner or later as well.

3) I'll do postcards by request (my aunt has insisted and has quite a collection) but you're much more likely to get a gift, especially if I know you well enough to know what you'd like.

4) Depends somewhat on distance traveled, but long enough that you have time to relax in between all the travel stress. I'd say a week.

5) Let's see. I almost drowned at Disney World. I almost put a van full of people off the side of a mountain in New Zealand (and it was at the part where you could see the 1000 feet or more down to the plains). And we got stopped in the middle of some rural protest and nearly missed our flight when we were in Nepal. Oh and let's not forget about the tire that blew out on our way down Mount Hood (I was pretty young but mom says that if it hadn't happened by the scenic overlook parking area we would have gone over the side of the mountain). So who wants to go traveling with me on my next trip? I've got a pretty good record of almost disasters.

New Questions!

1. What is included in your "must have" music for a road trip?

My dad has this weird combination of country, swing, jazz, and bluegrass. I honestly think I ever go on one myself I will probably chose that inherently

2. What is the best or strangest thing you have eaten while on vacation?

On a vacation to New York I had real Italian tiramisu for the first time. It was amazing

3. When vacationing, do you mail postcards to people back home or get them a gift from your travels?

It depends. I usually get my mother a Christmas ornament because she loves to have them from each place we go

4. How long is the ideal vacation?

I think a week/7 days. At least then you have a few days to discover things, and then a few days to relax

5. Share a "Vacation Disaster" story...

HAHAHAHA ok it was on the same vacation that I had the tiramisu in New York. My sister and her boyfriend Dave took us to the city, and they had a pizza place that they wanted to take us to specially. Well, they didn't know the area nor did they know the name of it. So we ended up walking for about 45 minutes, in a couple of not so great areas, and settled for a fast food italian place nearby. I was completely happy with it, but poor Dave was so flustered that he was willing to go back home after an in-walk argument with my sister. The rest of the day was nice and relaxing, but that few minutes was very tense.

1. What is included in your "must have" music for a road trip?
Lacuna Coil, Jethro Tull, John Denver, Lindsey Stirling, and a mix of 90's songs that are kinda awful but also fun to sing to. The rest can be anything but rap or country.

2. What is the best or strangest thing you have eaten while on vacation?
I can't really do strange food because I'm a sissy, but the best was chicken pot pie at this little place in...Mississippi? I think.

3. When vacationing, do you mail postcards to people back home or get them a gift from your travels?
No to postcards, yes to gifts. But never t-shirts, because I hate when people bring me t-shirts from places where they could have gotten something awesome...like a live armadillo or whatever.

4. How long is the ideal vacation?
Two weeks is good.

5. Share a "Vacation Disaster" story...
I don't really have any...there's always some minor setback or annoyance on vacations, but nothing major. Oh...except when my mom's Jeep broke down in Tennessee (transmission) and the mechanic tried to sell it to his buddy instead of fixing it. That sorta put a damper on things for a few days.

1. What is included in your "must have" music for a road trip?
Things that I want to sing to, mostly. I have a whole range.

2. What is the best or strangest thing you have eaten while on vacation?
Horse meat sausage in Amsterdam.

3. When vacationing, do you mail postcards to people back home or get them a gift from your travels?
Sometimes neither option, depends on the person, depends on the location.
4. How long is the ideal vacation?
About 2 weeks. I get a little batty towards the end and am ready to go home.
5. Share a "Vacation Disaster" story...
The place I stayed in Hamburg was in the basement of a Christian punk club. You'd think that was the worst bit... it wasn't. We slept days and worked/played nights... kind of a working vacation... the worst bit was the place next door was a cafe' run by middle easterners that played dance music all day... very loudly. I've never been so sleep deprived. It was an ugly, horrible experience. Not sleeping turns Auntie Ole into a crazy woman.

1. What is included in your "must have" music for a road trip?

Anything fast with bass. I like LeCrae and Awolnation.

2. What is the best or strangest thing you have eaten while on vacation?

Probably calamari.

3. When vacationing, do you mail postcards to people back home or get them a gift from your travels?

I don't typically do postcards. I will bring home a gift for someone who is helping us out, like watching our house, keeping kids or animals for us, etc.

4. How long is the ideal vacation?

7 days seems to be my limit. Probably 5 days is perfect at the destination, with more if travel is necessary. More than that and I start getting ready for home.

5. Share a "Vacation Disaster" story...

We rented a beach condo directly from owners once, and were late getting into town due to traffic jams. When we got there, we looked under the mat and found the key just where the owner said it would be. We walked in with all our luggage and noticed there was a purse and keys on the table, and other items around the house. We finally realized that someone was already staying there. They had double-booked the place. We ended up finding a last minute hotel to stay in, and I was up all night trying to figure out what to do for the week. It all worked out, but it wasn't the best start to our vacation.

Owl City

2. What is the best or strangest thing you have eaten while on vacation?

Frog Legs! I didn't know what they were until my uncle told me, oh boy! LOL

3. When vacationing, do you mail postcards to people back home or get them a gift from your travels?

I don't really do postcards like ever. I mean we're in the internet age, right? hehe. But I do give gifts especially if it's a really special vacation.

4. How long is the ideal vacation?

I say about 1-2 weeks. I like a nice long vacation but not too long. I start missing my home and pets.

5. Share a "Vacation Disaster" story...

My dad rented a beach house where you can fish from it and swim in the water too. It was pretty awesome! But my brother and I started to jump down from the part where you fish into the water. Well my brother hit himself in the face because he landed too close to the wood from the rail. He hurt all of his face and bled a lot! It was really scary. I'm surprised he isn't scarred from it because I remember there being a lot of blood. He was about 4 years old. Poor kid!

Hmm, okay Sting's Dream of the Blue Turtle cd. Yeah, I know - weird, but when your older brother forces you to listen to it for 52 hours on a road trip, it grows on you.

2. What is the best or strangest thing you have eaten while on vacation?

Mofongo

3. When vacationing, do you mail postcards to people back home or get them a gift from your travels?

No postcards, but I get little gifts for close friends and family

4. How long is the ideal vacation?

A week

I do not travel well. I was once stuck on the tarmac in Dallas for three hours during a thunderstorm. The woman sitting next to me had never flown before and was scared to death. She decided to sink her fingernails into my arm as she held on for support. Her fingernails drew blood, and I still have these little half moon scars on my arm to remind me.

Your brother has good taste. I love that album!! Especially at the beginning of the title song when they are yelling in pretend panic "What key is it in? What key is it in?"

New Question Time! The theme is a CC meetup:

1. If you were going to meet a CC-er or a group of 'em for the first time, would you be nervous? What would you be nervous about? (I know, I know - that's technically two questions!)

2. If you were in a CC meetup, would you prefer to have an organized schedule, or to just "go with the flow" and have the group kind of just "wing it?"

3. What activities would you like to do as part of a CC meetup?

4. How far would you be willing to travel to meet one or a group of CC members?

5. Which CC member of the opposite sex would you choose to be on your side in a bar fight?

The theme is a CC meetup:

1. If you were going to meet a CC-er or a group of 'em for the first time, would you be nervous? What would you be nervous about? (I know, I know - that's technically two questions!)
1:1 I don't think I'd be nervous. I'm good with one or two. A group... yes.
Truly, I'm pretty introverted so a group is just harder for me. I get all dumb baby self conscious and blushy and stuff. But I'd try and mask my discomfort and be all awkward and loud or SUPER quiet. Gaah. Why am I giving away my secrets? I do like people though, and I'd be really excited to see the mannerisms in those who I've heard speak and hear the voices and see the expressions of those I've not.

2. If you were in a CC meetup, would you prefer to have an organized schedule, or to just "go with the flow" and have the group kind of just "wing it?"
Bit of both. Maybe loose plans around meals or a thing to do together, but lots of time just to talk and get to know each other IRL, because we're all probably going to be awkward at first... so maybe more stuff to direct activity in the beginning and lots more time to talk in the end. Like maybe a baseball game or concert or something that most of us are into and the other ones can endure/enjoy without wanting to pull out their hair.

3. What activities would you like to do as part of a CC meetup?
Prepare food, eat said food, talk (hopefully not with our mouths full). Bible study/worship... I guess have some church together, ya know? Something involving water... water fight, swimming, inter-tubing down a river... jet boats UP a river. Sleep (because clearly I envision more than one day)... but in safe distances... if you know what I mean... Laughing. Um... depends on where the meet-up is....

4. How far would you be willing to travel to meet one or a group of CC members?
There are no distances that I wouldn't, dependent on time and funds. When you connect with a person or group of persons (wow, I hate that pluralization, but it's funnier than people, I am gonna leave it) ain't no mountain high enough... ain't no valley low enough... ain't no river wide enough to keep me away from you (babe).

5. Which CC member of the opposite sex would you choose to be on your side in a bar fight?
Hmmmm... Perhaps Zero_Turbulence because... dude is a NINJA! Or maybe NukePooch because radioactivity (though that's less effective in the short term, I think it takes awhile for radioactive poisoning to be effective. And while I don't really have any fear of death... because HOME, am I right?... I don't want to get exposed. I haven't seen any of Cathearder's knife skills, but if they rival my own, the two of us with freshly sharpened 14" chefs knives in each hand would be formidable. (SK and Lynx are computer dudes... and though one mysteriously undefined like a poem and the other a wild big cat... maybe.) I know Zero_Cool knows stuff about deadly snakes and arachnids and other buggy things, but I don't know if he charms them into weaponry.
I'm sure I am missing a few good fighters... I'm sure there are a few gun handlers in the group, and I know how to shoot... but... hmm... I think I'm gonna go with Zero_Turbulence because then I can just stand there being cute and he can take out the whole mess. I don't want to break a nail or anything.

I wanted to say this too: I'm really happily jealous that y'all are meeting up. How fun!! You'll come back to the group with more inside jokes and a better understanding of each other. Lots more bonding, perhaps some irritation (because personalities don't always mesh, yo) and that's a beautiful thing. I've not been here at CC long, but I have appreciated so much of my time here. And I'm honored to be a part of this weird and wonderful group of single believers. (Disclaimer: some of the married times are pretty cool too, I guess... )

1) I think I'd be a bit nervous, but that's just because my brain would take a little bit of time to associate the person / people in front of me and there in real life with the people I'd gotten to know online (and I'm sure many of you don't look like your avatars).

2) I like organization, but I hate group activities. So I'd like a general schedule of go to beach one day (and everyone can do their own thing or spontaneous games of frisbee or volleyball or something might happen) then go to a museum or cultural place or something the next. So loosely organized, but something where I have the freedom to be like, nope that's not my thing and opt out and people won't get all offended and annoyed with me.

3) Really depends on who is there, but mainly I'd be looking for points of mutual interest. But general big categories, hiking with people, cooking and eating with people (not eating people, keep those cannibalistic Aussies away), I'd be happy for certain CCers to teach me some more about computers and up my nerd quotient, and I could see having a total nerd fest of movie marathons with others.

4) If I have the time, money, and desire to meet a person, the travel isn't an issue. I'd just like to spend more time hanging out than I do in transit.

5) Doesn't matter. Hanging out in bars and getting into fights is not on my list of activities for a CC meet up. But I hear Roh_Chris has an army of drones and mutant wombats if anyone is ever really in a tight spot.

1) I don't think I'd be nervous if I am meeting people whom I have interacted with, on CC.

2) I would prefer to have a mix of both because I like a few days when things are organized and a few other days when we can make impromptu plans. Maybe a spontaneous worship session? A drive to a nearby town? A movie? But if it's going to be a roadtrip or similar activities, I would prefer it to be well-planned down to the minutest detail.

3) All that I've listed before, plus food. More food. And more food. Even if nobody else is hungry.. I AM ALWAYS HUNGRY! :D

4) It depends on time and finance. But I wouldn't want to travel a long distance just to meet someone for a short while.

5) Let's see. It would be Cinder, because she has an army of well-trained minions. If she is busy being a super-villain, then it'll be PopClick because she has Vivian. And boy, can she shoot! :p
