Ok, this is about how healthy and vibrant your personal ministry and/or walk with Christ is.

Do you feel that you are doing lots of good things right now in your life that would please God (no matter how small they might be, up to and including holding doors open for strangers)

or...

Do you feel that something is holding you back from doing lots of good things for God (lack of opportunity, financial troubles, lack of interaction with others, etc..)? If so, what is it that's holding you back? (if you feel comfortable enough to share)..

By the way, this isn't to judge each other...no no no. :) And I know that all our good deeds are as filthy rags to God, but I think He still appreciated them anyway. :)

This thread is sort of reminder I guess and a call to introspection to see if we've been trying to spread goodness and love to others, or if we need to maybe look at ways that we can do more for others in order to please God and help spread love and faith in humanity through kindness and charity. Yea, that's about it. :)

I think if I was married it would put limits on what I am doing now.

I believe that being a married man expands the opportunities in a unique way of being a humble servant of the Lord. At least I found this is true in regards to my own situation.

I think there are people who simply have a Loving Way. Whether that is direct result of faith or a love of Christ might not be definitive, but the upshot is a loving witness to the charity of God. If someone has a loving nature, there are few things else other than God that it's attributable to. Isn't that weird?

I wonder if that is actually from our consumption of the tree of knowledge? In other words, this "Godly knowledge" that was consumed provided humans with several things - a discernment between what God deemed good and what God deemed evil, a broader sense of the universe and the workings thereof, an understanding of the concept of future events, an awareness of the finality of earthly life and perception of an after life, and most importantly, the awareness of the insight of love. (Imagine we only ate one fruit from an entire tree - God is magnificent!)

So -this indefinable loving nature identifies itself as FROM GOD and I believe it does so even to unbeliever. So to help answer your question Z - I think we few by Grace who comprehend this Godly truth are more likely to exercise this "loving way" than others though all humankind have that capability. This Loving Way is, I believe, a principal tool for good and Godly works.

I'm exceedingly careful not to recognize the deeds I have done for God's Glory. For him, to him, and through him. If I take an ounce of credit for a good deed done for the Lord, I've negated any blessing surrounding it in my opinion.

I try not to let my right hand know what the left is doing. I'd far rather be a vessel for God and have no clue where he is using me to Bless others.

I think withering is a huge sign of backsliding. Pruning is refinement and sanctification, and there are times during the pruning process people are used by the Lord and they are so overwhelmed they do not even recognize their gifts or how they are blessing others.

Fruits of the spirit are often misunderstood as deeds.. working at the soup kitchen... volunteering at church... While the fruits of the spirit can flow abundantly while serving Christ.. I think the branch that bears fruit is certainly rooted in Christ
[h=3]Galatians 5:22-23[/h]New International Version (NIV)

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

[h=3]John 15[/h]English Standard Version (ESV)

[h=3]I Am the True Vine[/h]15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. 9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you.15 No longer do I call you servants,[a] for the servant[b] does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. 17 These things I command you, so that you will love one another.
[h=3]The Hatred of the World[/h]18 “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you:‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.21 But all these things they will do to you on account of my name,because they do not know him who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have been guilty of sin,[c] but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 Whoever hates me hates my Father also.24 If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin, but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father. 25 But the word that is written in their Law must be fulfilled: ‘They hated me without a cause.’
26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. 27 And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning.

I answered I never really thought of it before. I just try to do the best I can, or when someone is need I try to help. I'm pretty simple like that. Thinking gives me a head ache.

I was just about to refer to John 15, but I see you already quoted from it.

The lesson about abiding in the vine in order to be fruitful is an important one.

Blessings.

(if you feel comfortable enough to share)..
overthinking the issue, imo. i do better K.I.S.S.:p

Other.

Good deeds are easy. It's staying on that really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really narrow path and following God's book I find quite difficult to do. Especially with such diverse interpretations and opinions on how to follow God.
