Hello Thula. You just quoted 1 Corinthians 7. Can I ask the reason you posted it? Is it you want us to study it? People normally post more than just a scripture verse.

How much you trust Jesus is the most important thing, With some people its good to be single, with some its good to be married. Its following Gods' will at the end of the day. If its his will for you to marry, then he will bless you and He should be the first, middle and last through it all. If its his will for you to be single. He will still bless you.

You will know by the spirit in you. The spirit in you is a direct path between you and God. If its right for you to do things by his will? then The spirit in you will tell you.

Most people go out looking, mostly are the ones who dont seek God's will first hand. Sadly to say. But thats why most marriages end up broken, or divoresed.

But if people put God first. It will be by his will. and people would be blessed for a long marrage. and a true one and a sincere one too.

Well, to be honest... sometimes marriage fails even when it WAS God's will, because people are fallible. People are capable of screwing up even God's most perfect plan for their lives.

Save yourself a lot of worry. Think of these gifts as changeable attributes. Right now God has given you the gift of being single. If and when he brings along a husband you will have the gift of being married. Even if you have the best marriage ever, there's a good chance one of you will outlive the other and so have the gift of being single again.

No where in that chapter does it say you can't have both gifts within your lifetime.

Why do you need to know up front? Why not just live your life where it is now and if God brings you someone, then marry, and if He doesn't then you've been living your life and have lost nothing. Gods not in the habit of spelling peoples lives out for them so they can plan ahead, but He wants people who are ready to move in the direction He leads.
And if He were to tell you you are to be married, that could still be a distraction. What if you spend all your time looking, when God doesn't have plans for you to marry for another 10 years? Then you spend 10 years of your life looking, rather than living out those 10 years as God intended. Sometimes the best thing for us is to not know what God intends, so we don't screw it up. Sometimes we just have to live life and wait for God to send people to us or guide us to the people. Not plan for it ourselves.

This isn't complicated.

If you think about the opposite sex a lot,
then you probably don't have the "gift" of singleness.

It's not a big mystery.

You keep praying asking God to show you His plans. Consult with your spiritual director and those who are extremely spiritual and also close to you and of course to God and God will show you what He wants for you. IF God showed you that both ways are open for you, then it just means He's saying I agree on both ways. You get to choose either one and I will bless your choice and be with you through out the way.

Bear in mind God's answers are ALWAYS VERY CLEAR!! :)

That's a very misleading thing to say to someone. If God's answers were always very clear, people would screw up a lot less.

God's answers are ALWAYS CLEAR. People do screw up because they DON'T accept God's choice/answer for them.

God would say "Here take this, that's what I want you to have right now" The person is like "Oh, no no, I don't want this thing, I want that thing" OR "Oh no, sorry God, I can't have this right now because I'm not ready" Or whatever the rejection is.

When you choose to go against God's will you will definitely screw up. BUT guess what? with God's love, He'll still get you out of it and protect you.

Perhaps God always answers you clearly; I'm not disputing that. I'm not saying He never answers clearly, only that it's not always true for everyone. Telling people that God's answers to their prayers and questions are always clear is sort of a narrow view of how God works, and it makes it even more confusing for people who are seeking answers and failing to receive them or not understanding where God is leading them.

It's true that what people want often clouds their ability to see what God wants for them, but it's also true that God doesn't always give direct, easy to understand, clear answers. Often times, people don't even realize that a prayer has been answered until long after they've forgotten what they even prayed for.

I just think it's misleading, and offering a bit of false hope, to tell people that God only operates in such-and-such a way, particularly when you're telling them, essentially, that they aren't seeing something that's oh-so-obvious.

I think the point is at least partly that some things God does reveal clearly in His Word and other things He has chosen to real less clearly and in a more general way; here, conscience (Romans 14) and individual responsibility are especially relevant.

Well, I'm sorry that you can't understand what I'm saying. I'll say it again in a clearer way.

Here's a scenario:
A person has a specific prayer or request from God.
God's CLEAR answer will be Yes, No or He will stay silent and being silent is also an answer from God.

When God says Yes, you'll see everything falling into place, going smoothly, even blessed, miracles happens in the middle that clearly shows that God's hands are there working things out. You will feel this peace and joy knowing in your heart that's DEFINITELY God's choice for you.

When God says No, you will see everything not working or improving or progressed or blessed. Things are getting worse, are getting more complicated and hard. God will clearly show you the alternative He wants for you and it's up to you to take it or leave it. And if you choose to go against God's will, you will suffer big time!!

When God is being Silent, you will find yourself still praying for whatever you want. You won't see change. You won't even see any alternatives. Your circumstances are the same simply because according to God's timing, the Yes or No answer to your prayer is not due yet. God is simply telling you to Wait for an answer from Him. And again, if you choose not to wait for an answer from God but rather keep fighting, it'll be YOUR loss!!

When you love God that much and have a very intimate relationship with Him you will CLEARLY hear His voice.

I know you have kids, imagine your kid is playing with a lot of other kids, so everyone is talking and it's so busy, BUT if YOUR kid says something you will hear his voice right away. You will recognize your kid's voice and draw your attention to what he/she says.
