So I just made some roasted garlic in the microwave and promptly ate the whole thing (like just pulled the cloves out of the head and ate them, so yummy). But it got me thinking about eating garlic and how it can make your breath smell, and how dates and presumably spouses don't like smelly breath, and how I don't have to worry about all that because I'm single and I can eat all the garlic I want (at least until my flatmate threatens to move out).

So what are the things you can enjoy doing as a single that would be more difficult or create tension if you were married (things you can legitimately enjoy, not sinful things of course)?

Mine:

Eat all the garlic, onions, and other weird smelling foods I want.

Curl up with a good novel and read it cover to cover in one day.

Go hiking by myself/ alone with God whenever I want to.

Eat a bag of microwave popcorn for dinner if I don't want to cook.

Fasting- so much easier when you don't have to cook for someone else

Very true.

To be honest though, I like to cook when I am fasting. It seems my sense of smell improves a lot, so I just go with what smells good. Normally turns out interesting, but they eat it (my family).

But being single does give you more time with God, if you can keep your focus on Him.

I guess I cannot really say things I like to do being single. As I live with my parents still, so I am not exactly alone!

I can eat chocolate for dinner (after feeding kiddos real food).
I can stay up as late as I want, or go to bed as early as I want.
I can watch Pride & Prejudice (BBC version of course) 500 times in a row.
I can lay on my tummy and kick my feet while I'm falling asleep without annoying anyone.

+ i share my bed with a dog.

+ no knowing looks while i scarf down half a box of SF fudgsicles during a certain time of the month

+ since i don't watch tv, i like to play loud music, a LOT. some of it great, some of it amazing, and some of it just embarrassing

+ no awful television shows (or cartoons) that i feel obligated to pretend to be amused by

+ calligraphy-ing the walls, painting, and other decorating choices that are decided on a whim, and never require 14 hours of discussion and a peace treaty

+ projects or cleaning the house at 2 a.m. (with the accompanying loud music of course)

+ i find lean cuisine to be an acceptable dinner choice when i'm busy, stressed, or feel lazy

+ "secret single behavior" - yeah, that's a topic in and of itself. such as my occasionally really studying my pores for a bit, my silly cartoon voices and accents i practice on my dog. or catching up with my long-winded girlfriend while hanging upside down on my inversion rack.

+ nobody making me feel badly about wearing my "big girl heels" because i'm 6' in heels and thus, make him feel short

+ going for a run in the rain, getting home, and making a giant long trail of drippy water between the front door to the shower and nobody complaining. cleaning it up when i feel like it.

+ nobody complaining about my 235243523 containers of chapstick, lip balm, body butter, and ponytail elastics laying around the house.

+ nobody asking me why there are green leaves floating in the water (it's mint, you dork).

+ spending my money as a i want. and no need to justify my 11lbs of cheese in the fridge (my main reason for having a costco membership)

+ nobody teasing me because i don't want my food touching on my plate (or reminding me that it's all ending up in the same place).

+ no danger of my eyes permanently staying stuck in the rolled up position as i wait for "just 15 minutes more of the video game"

No more long strands of hair in the bathroom. I can enjoy number 2 without counting the hair on the floor.
I can go for a joyride whenever I want.
I can worry less about the other person's "extra" expenses.
I'm not really putting myself out there. So, looking good just comes naturally. xD

Doing what I want the way I want it and when I want it. And the highlight would be travelling. I LOVE going to Europe every year or every other year. I guess that's easier being done as me being single!!

That reminds me...
There's nobody to get upset with me over leaving half the lights in the place on for days at a time.

I LIKE having it bright in here.

I also find that I can use a hammer to destroy bugs without anybody cringing and giving me a lecture on the proper use for tools.

And I can listen to whatever music I feel like without being made fun of or "educated".

And I can sit and paint or write without anyone constantly sighing and saying they're bored.

Having whatever sleep schedule (or lack thereof) you want.

Being able to play whatever you want, whenever you want, at whatever volume you want. (Games, movies, music, etc)

Being able to go wherever you want, whenever you want, for whatever reason you want...with no explanation or worry or care in the world.

Wearing (or not wearing) whatever you want...

Making your own schedule, and always getting to eat or do whatever sounds best to you.

...you know...as I list and think about these...pretty much just selfishness. You can be selfish to an extent, and no one cares or looks down on you for it. It's sort of 'your right' to do what you please with your life and time. ...hmm... *shrugs*

I honestly can't think of anything that I've ever done that would be a "guilty pleasure" that has to be done alone...most of the people (at least one's I've lived with) don't mind what I do,say,eat,drink..etc.

I guess, possibly getting out of the shower nekkid, and not having to get all dressed right away...if I'm alone I can do that. (I could normally, but I don't do it now because I don't want to scar my friend emotionally for the rest of his life by seeing me nude)

Maybe cranking up whatever style of music I want @ whatever time I want,if alone.

Meh..I dunno. I suppose if I lived with kids I might have a bunch more, but I don't at the moment. I'll get back to you on this soon. lol

Making your own plans - what to eat, what to do, where to go, etc. without arguing or convincing anybody about it.
Working out at the gym in peace since you don't have to go buy the last-minute grocery.
Going for a long drive with good music playing in the stereo.
Splurging on anything - shoes, music gadgets, headphones, mobile phones, etc.
Treat yourself to a luxurious lunch or dinner once in a while (a reward to yourself).
Follow the football World Cup until 2:00 am (IN PEACE!).
Singing in the shower like you're being auditioned for American Idol.
Last but not the least, spending an hour on the potty without anybody knocking on the door asking you to come out.

Can watch whatever t.v programme I like whenever I want too.
When I go food shopping I don't have to wait on someone else to decide which bag of frozen peas to buy..ext
If I accidentally burn the toast..nobody else will know about it...

.The list is endless..

Dog in bed and being the master of the remote, listening to strange bassoon recordings and commenting on every phrasing I would have done differently and leaving dishes on the table until Monday.

The most guilty pleasure of them all: thinking it is great to stay single just a little bit longer.
